As the class was refilled with students who ca after changing clothes, it didn’t take all that long for the teacher to arrive.

The first thing he did after arriving was shoot a disapproving gaze at everyone present, they did not say anything more and simply picked up a marker and started writing on the whiteboard.

Due to pin drop silence, the sound of marker rubbing against the board was very evident

Screech.

The teacher was a man who appeared to be in his forties, with a magnificent beard and a pompadour to go along with it.

He surprisingly lacked a moustache, and had a body that was bit too slim to be called fat, but couldn’t be called skinny either

Screech.

Screeches continued to resound as he wrote on the whiteboard, his hands sharply moving from one point to another.

After he was done with writing. He turned around, his gaze t the eye of every student present one by one.

"Hello, my na is Marcus and I –"

He used the marker in his hand to point at the word he previously wrote on the board

"– teach history"

He continued

"Whatever you have been taught about history in your school or hos back in your country, kingdom or sect, forget about most of it."

"I can assure you it’s mostly propaganda either ant to glorify your country, kingdom or sect, depending on where you are from. Or degrade your longstanding enemies, because history is written by victors"

"But here in the archives of the academy, our historians and archaeologists have spent their entire lifeti and lifetis of successors uncovering the truth."

"I can see the looks of suspicion I am getting from a few students. It seems many of you don’t believe , but I can prove it to you."

Corners of his mouth slightly curved up, as he towards the leftmost, second last seat

"you, stand up. What’s your na?."

"Quin, Sir."

"yes quin. Would you tell who built the first telegram?"

"Yes sir, the first telegram was made by dr Eric Ross, of Sotenvera Republic, during the 6th intercontinental war, year 653"

Marcus watched the reactions of the students, until he found the right one

"you there, third seat.... Not you. You, yes you. You look like you have sothing on your mind to share."

"Its nothing sir, we were taught that the first telegram was built in year 653, by the Anti-Empire alliance"

Marcus had a full blown smile by now

"And you both are correct, you see. If you were to compare the history books all across the 9 continents, you will find similar situations."

"where two party claims to have built the sa thing with almost negligible ti gap, in most cases it is impossible to determine which party did it first"

"Which leads to "his word versus mine" situations"

"But do you not wonder why that is so?Sure two people can have the sa idea at the sa ti but to develop it almost at the sa ti, multiple tis throughout history is a bit too much of a coincidence, don’t you think?."

"And I am talking about across continents at that, even if spies exist, how do you justify the information crossing through the vast monster infested seas?, given that we have difficulties in cross continent communication to this day."

"answer is very simple – one word even"

"The obelisk, A pitch black orb made of unidentified component that floated in a middle of the sea, equidistant from all 9 continents"

"the obelisk was an object that granted knowledge about almost everything, except magic, it periodically released that knowledge into the dreams of few chosen people equally across the continent, whenever a ’milestone’ was reached"

He said the next line in extrely serious tone.

"However, it was ultimately destroyed by religious extremists who venerated magic, taking advantage of the vulnerability that erged in the aftermath of the first inter-racial conflict."

"In the wake of this devastation, humanity united and collectively imposed a prohibition on all forms of religious worship."
