Chapter 1041: Another Round of Questioning
Three hours later, two police cars drove toward the residential area located along the Namu River of Ye City.
Seven or eight police officers jumped out of the car and walked up to a mansion.
The person who t them at the door was a pregnant lady who was about to give birth anyti. She was 38 weeks pregnant and her na was Dai Manni. She was Ye Yi’s wife and they had been married for around seven or eight years. She had always been trying but failing to get pregnant. This was her third attempt at making a child through in-vitro fertilization.
Her belly was very swollen but her figure was still very slender, so she didn’t seem chubby at all.
She placed both arms at her hips and seed very surprised to see the police officers at her doorstep. She frowned as she asked, “May I know what’s the purpose of your visit?” A flash of confusion and surprise crossed her eyes.
“Hello, could you please let us know if Ye Yi lives here?” a police officer said.
Dai Manni seed even more surprised when she heard that the police officer was looking for her husband. A feeling of dread crept up on her because she vaguely knew that her husband had been involved in so shady and illegal business.
“He isn’t here and it has been a while since he last returned ho,” she answered. She looked very tense as she answered the police officer’s questions.
She was telling the truth and it had indeed been a while since Ye Yi last returned ho. He hadn’t been back in the past two weeks even though he had promised her that he would be back by her side when she gave birth. He suddenly reneged on his promise and claid that he had matters to attend to so it would be a while before he could co back. His actions were as erratic as a lunatic.
“Madam Ye, could we have a look inside the house?” the police officer did not find her words convincing.
Dai Manni invited them in graciously because she knew that Ye Yi was not at ho.
The police officers searched the entire house, including every single room, but they did not see any sign of Ye Yi anywhere.
Hence, they could only leave angrily after failing to find any further clues.
However, the team leader soon received a call from his colleague after they left Ye Yi’s residence.
“There’s no need for you to continue searching for Ye Yi. We’ve looked through the Civil Aviation Administration’s records and noticed that he has boarded a plane bound for airplane for Arica two days ago. He is no longer in the country.”
The police officers had no choice but to return to the police station after receiving this piece of news.

At the sa ti, Han Xue was ushered into the interrogation room one again.
This ti, she seed very exhausted because she had been interrogated by different groups of police officers for five hours. She hadn’t eaten or had anything to drink during this ti.
She was so thirsty that her lips cracked.
She didn’t look like the beautiful woman she once had been.

This police officer’s face was cold and his face seed completely devoid of any expression.
“Han Xue, the interrogation process has not ended. Please try to keep your spirits up,” he said.
Han Xue replied, “I want so water.” Han Xue’s throat was very dry and her voice was hoarse. She felt as though she would die if she continued not to eat.
The police officer said, “You’ll be able to eat after you’ve answered my questions.”
“Tell us, what is your relationship with Ye Yi?” he asked.
Han Xue was extrely annoyed since it was the umpteenth ti she had been asked this question.
She truly felt like banging her head against the wall so that the police officers would stop bullying her.
“As I’ve said before, he is my brother-in-law, and I am his sister-in-law,” she repeated the sa answer.
“Is that all?” the police officer asked. “Han Xue, have you thought this through? Is Ye Yi truly worth sacrificing your life for him?”
Han Xue looked very dejected earlier but she imdiately sat upright as though she had been electrocuted the mont she heard the police officer’s words. She couldn’t stop shaking.
