gossip was not boring. Gossip was not boring at all.

"How co I never knew that Estelle’s maid was married secretly?!" I gasped. "Estelle would have known and she would have told ! And she was married to the son of a minister no less!"

Apparently, since I was for the first ti interested in gossiping, Marilyn had told as much as she could rember about the palace gossip.

Which was frankly a lot but it was also interesting.

"Yes! She was." rlin nodded. "Almost all of us maids knew where she was eting with her lover and we would secretly sneak and check if it was true and it was!"

Estelle would have her neck for that.

Also, If damage had so much ti on their hands, to sneak around and spy on people that there had to be a serious redistribution of work.

"Dear lord," Camille whispered with a surprisingly naughty smile on her face. "I love scandalised gossip!"

"You love any gossip mother," rilyn chuckled. It was a fond smile which carved its way to my face too.

"Well, gossip is gossip and it is always interesting."

"Well said." I gave her a nod of appreciation because what she said was definitely true.

The gossip continued well into the night and it was there I excused myself, feeling tired and Everyone then rembered that they had sothing to do or just had to get ho.

Were they all leaving because I had chosen to live? Or had I silently dismissed all of them without knowing?

I was thinking too much again.

They all dispersed after I started to walk upstairs, alone with no one following .

Where were Soloman and Bert?

It did not feel good that he was no one following . Tristan had always made sure that they were soone with , whether it was Ina or the two of his vampires.

Maybe, I was the one who was thinking too much about her. Stepping into my room, I made sure to close the door behind before walking into the bedroom. My eyes landed over the writing desk only for to co to a stop after I realised what was on it.

A letter.

How was this possible? I moved closer to it and held it in my hand to study the familiar sigil of my house.

Sir Walter was not in the palace nor had I heard from him since that day. There was no one who had contacted about the letter and had given the smallest clue that Sir Walter had sent soone for . What was happening?

How was this letter here then? Who placed it?

Because it has to be soone who was courageous enough to do it after Tristan had punished so many mbers of the staff.

Slowly, I opened the letter and kept the envelope on the writing desk before reading through the contents of the small pages.

’Dearest Sister,

I have received your previous letters and as much as I appreciate the help you are going to send my way, I must refuse it. There have been many happenings at ho and unfortunately, I did not receive much ti to write to you.

You must not worry about us. Think of yourself and try to get out of the kingdom as quickly as you can. I understand your explanation about the vampires but I do not trust them nor do the advisers in the kingdom. You must walk out of there.

We shall schedule an escape route for you. Let know when it would be possible and I shall make it happen. My priority is to get you out, my sister. Everything else can wait and it must because you are the most important.

Let know when would be the right ti for you to Escape, Sister. As soon as you can because you are needed here.

With you, by my side, we will be invincible together. Your help is much needed at the mont. I shall be waiting for your ssage.

Estelle.’

I lowered the pages.

Why did it sound like Estelle but on the other hand did not at all? Yes, I was a priority to my sister but not before the kingdom that was sothing we had agreed on.

Why would she lie to ? Maybe not lie but try to get out of the kingdom when she had to stabilize one at her hand?

My sister was too proud to say sothing like this..

Sothing did not seem bright in all of this. Why had she still not used this opportunity and made her claim to the throne? With unknown creatures lurking in the night, she needed to stabilize her claim to the throne by providing stability, yet either she did not write it in letters or she had not done it yet.

She did not have to write for , so why write that in letters?

I did not have much ti to think about it, because it was then I rembered that anyone could co into my room and if I tried to hide it, they would know.

I kept her letters in the sa place I kept the rest of them, in the trunk that was least used.

Walking over to the bed, I felt so tired even though I had just woken up and had done nothing but talk. Lying down on the bed, I stared on the roof as a captain thinking about the letters.

There had to be a way for to communicate to Estelle without Sir Walter. Because I had no idea when he would be coming back, if he would ever co back without being killed.

The letter had been recklessly and equally mysteriously recently landed on my writing desk and I had no clue who had been in this room.

But that was not my concern at the mont, my concern was what was going on in lenmore?
