A few minutes after Marilyn had left, I fell back on the bed and continued to stare at the ceiling above .
Anna was moving around the room but I paid her no mind. She was a distant thought in my mind who I was aware of yet paid no attention to.
I had considered everything. Everything. From the point to how Was I going to mix the concoction with the wine to how we were going to Escape and how I was going to get the prince out of the palace. Everything was planned well.
Even though I panicked each and every day and my nervousness grew, I made sure that everything was planned in case we were successful.
My heart was very much aware of the guilt that it was going to carry after deceiving Tristan but I had forgotten one of the most important people to .
rilyn.
My dearest and longest friends of all. The one who had stayed by my side through almost everything. Who knew like the back of her hand. The one person who I could trust with everything.
I had forgotten that it was her wedding that I was running with the little coup that I had planned.
She was also one of the people who had drunk the wine and ended up being unconscious. Imagine her surprise when she would wake up to see that everyone had fallen asleep after drinking divine and I was the reason behind it.
I had ruined her celebrations.
I had ruined the wedding of my best friend.
*****
It was almost Sunset by the ti the door opened again. The twinkle of that electric feeling returned and I knew it was him who had entered my apartnts now.
Anna moved or maybe he did. I was no longer looking at any of them. My focus remained on the ceiling.
"You look pale," he comnted and I heard him move closer.
"I feel pale too."
"Huh," he huffed out a laugh, "would you like to do sothing about that?"
"So Sun might help." I replied. "Care to help?"
He chuckled and the sound ward my heart very slightly before the fear took over again.
"I want to go back, Tristan." I said after soti, hoping that he would listen even though I knew that the hopes were going to be vain.
He sighed and appeared in my line of vision, making turn to look at him. He looked just like I rembered seeing him. None of this had really made any kind of impact on him.
Unlike it had on .
"Get up, Genevive."
I closed my eyes.
The feeling of the heavy chain cuff was lost around my wrist was lifted off and so was from every other limb before he repeated himself again, "get up, Genevive."
"No."
He chuckled. "It’s only you could realise how astounding it is for you to think that you have a choice."
Choice? Yes, when did I ever have a choice to do anything?
"Bring her, Anna."
Hand clamped around my wrist before I was pulled into a sitting position and was dragged out of the bed.
Anna pulled and the mont my feet touched the floor, she jolted to stand straight without giving ti to process anything.
Tristan ca to stand behind her and his eyes remained on . His face supported a serious expression and at my plight, he did not even show the slightest bit of pity.
"I ant it when I said things were going to change here." His grave voice settled in. "Next ti when I ask you to do sothing, you must do it Genevive."
"Follow now," he stepped back, "let’s not make Anna drag you around the palace in front of everyone."
He turned around and started to walk out of the room and probably out of the apartnts. When I did not move, Anna stepped towards making a snap into action and follow Tristan.
Lifting up my skirts, I heard it after him. I could still feel Anna trailing behind slowly just to make sure that I did not wander round or cold... dare I say, Escape.
Tristan did not wait for like he did earlier. Nor did he turn around to give his hand. He continued looking forward with his head held high like a king who did not need anyone by his side, not even his queen, who was caught, had betrayed him.
Since the rooms occupied by the family mbers were on the highest floor, I assud that Tristan must be going down to the courtroom because he did not stop at any levels in between. He continued his journey down the stairs and so did I, following him as everyone who ca across us stared at .
Never had I felt so ashad of what I had done. As a princess, no matter what Happened, I always Kept my head held high as I walked but this ti, my eyes were downcasted. I could not bear to look at anyone.
My assumption was right. Tristan was leading to The grand courtroom.
It did not get past that there were certain changes done since the last ti I had been here. More security was introduced and the guards looked like they were vampire more than human.
Tristan stopped in front of the closed doors of the grand courtroom and I stopped five steps behind him.
He turned around slightly, just looked at and once he did he turned back around and opened the doors together letting them bang against the wall.
"Co," he glanced at again, "I have sothing to show you."
He walked into the courtroom and one step from Anna had running after him.
I hurried my footsteps just so I would be away from Anna only to co to a stop the mont I entered the courtroom.
This was not possible... I took a step back. How?
