Rula gasped as I said. What I said must have co as a true shock to her because the next thing I know, she shook her head aggressively, stepping away from .

"You don’t know what you’re doing!" She hissed at before looking at Dorothy, "tell her!"

Tell what?

Curious and suspicious of what was going on, I turned to look at Dorothy who was equally uncertain as I was.

Her uncertainty made turn back to Rula and narrow my eyes at her. "What are you talking about? Speak clearly."

Rula did not reply to but kept her eyes on Dorothy. "Have you forgotten? What happens when we hide from them? I understand that you have no one after you but you must have heard the rumors."

What rumors?

Dorothy’s eyes widened as she nodded her hurriedly before turning to , "people did try to initially hide away from them but that did not turn out well."

"How?"

Dorothy gulped before giving an awkward shrug of the shoulders. "I do not know if it is true or not, probably is, since we have never seen that maid, but she decided to hide in one of the guestrooms and it only took a few minutes for the Vampire to find her.

When he did, He did not take her back into the palace and we have never seen her again."

Never to be seen again?

I eyed rula. Now it seed obvious why she was so taken aback by my idea. Getting her blood-soaked forcefully was another thing, and safer as compared to being taken away and never be seen by anyone.

But was the rumor.

"I think they did see her.." Rula whispered slowly, slightly afraid. "I’m not sure but.. one of the stable boys told us that they had seen her crossing the border with him."

"Crossing the border?" I repeated after her questioningly. "I understand if she was trying to run away but she was crossing the border with him?"

"Forcefully, I would believe," Rula added, "but then again it was just a stable boy and he could be lying or trying to feed into the fire."

That could be true as well. The boy could be lying.

"But you are scared," I loudly spoke of my observation. "You are scared to stay with ."

Rula nodded. "I am." She confird. " I do not care if it is a rumor or not, but I care for my life. I do not know what you would do if he does not find there."

She looked away for a mont before licking her lips and speaking nervously, "I can tell him that I was sorting out so things for you but I cannot stay here."

Rula could be late but it won’t be stupid to avoid him for the entire night. Even though she had a convincing argunt because that Vampire would never co so far to question about keeping her and demanding her to do the job that she was being paid for, I did not feel entirely comfortable letting her go.

"Are you sure that you would be fine if you go now?" There was no harm in asking her the truth. "If there is a slight chance for you thinking that he might harm you, more than he already is, you should tell the truth."

Rula stared at thinking about what I had said. The way she continued to think about it and looked away eventually finalized my opinion that she was not aware of what was going to happen.

"How do you know that I am going to be the king’s queen?"

Rula snapped her head at so suddenly that I was worried for head neck for a mont.

"Everyone knows it," she shrugged as if it were nothing but common knowledge. "Anna, the head Vampire maid, makes us all aware of the fact that you are the queen. We take more precautions with you than we do with the king."

What?—No, I can’t be thinking about that yet.

I have to decide for myself whether or not I was able to help these won because these opportunities could not strike again.

"What does Anna do when they bite you in the night?" I rembered Anna. She was a strict lady when she was taking care of , but after that night.. sothing changed and she had turned into a motherly figure. She had turned into soone more like Marilyn.

"Nothing."

So, she was a strict one at heart.

I sighed before nodding, "you will stay here for tonight. Tomorrow morning, you can leave because he would not be here."

The expressions on her face turned imdiately. "You don’t know what you’re talking about.." she whimpered. "It’s the fear that stops us from running and I do not want to run.."

Sohow the few that she felt was also sothing that I was feeling now. I was aware of what could happen to her because I could place myself in her shoes.

What I felt from standing in them was not sothing pretty but also made realize that the shoes I was now standing in, allowed to protect her and the likes of her.

The mark on her neck was similar to what I had on mine. She was forced to have that on her neck and so was I.

I could get her out. I could help her with this and I wanted to do that.

I wanted to protect them because for the first ti I had the ans and the authority to do that.

Not only would I escape to my ho and do Estelle, but I would also be helping them in escaping.

Instead of addressing the young maid who was scared out of her mind, I turned to Dorothy,

"She will stay here for tonight and you will not let her leave until the sun rises. If Anna asks her anything, you can tell her that she can talk to about it."

Giving them a firm nod, I turned away and walked out of the room.
