We continued to walk but my mind felt blank of any questions and I wanted to ask. There was a chance that the soldiers were not willing when it ca to the turning. That simply broke my heart but the more I thought about it the more I knew that there was a chance that Tristan had given them the option.

I hoped so.

"So the royal family was never seen again?" I asked sir Walton, finally getting a grip of my head. "which ans there is a chance that they might be alive?"

He seed torn to answer that. " I do not know. I have worked very closely with the royalty and I know that if they let them live then it is a mistake and it would not be good for any of them."

It won’t. "Have you seen the king interact with soone?"

"Ah, yes, many." At this reply I noticed that his facial expression has changed. "I have seen the king and interacted with many on many occasions. Do you know he has started to hold court?"

"Court?" I was astonished at that! "Are the people aware of who he is?"

Sir Walter nodded slowly. "At the night of the attack it was not as silent as a stealth attack would be. I think everyone in the kingdom is aware of that. Other than that the rumours do not stop."

Oh. ."So are the civilians coming to court?"

He nodded. "They are scared but whenever they co the king is fair in dealings which I am quite surprised by. He does not let anyone take the na of the minister or the landlord to get any influence over the matter."

Of course he didn’t. "He is quite new sir Walter. I don’t think you would be unfair this soon."

On the contrary sir Walter shook his head, "if he wants the right connections and the support of everyone that holds power and money in the kingdom then unfair is exactly what he is supposed to do." He looked at the aning look in his eyes. "He is not going for power and money rather justice and that speaks sothing for itself."

Huh. That did say sothing for him. That ant Tristan did not care about who was in his side. What he cared about were the people.

It brought back mories of when we were traveling to the capital together. He would make sure that each and everyone was cared for and he did not even differentiate between his people and and my company.

He could have chosen to overlook us and not pay for expenses but he had done so repeatedly.

Sotis those monts were overshadowed. They were overshadowed by the bloody reality. But I could find similarities and that only made believe that Tristan was the sa at the very core. And that mattered.

I moved back to the topic at hand. Tristian was holding court. "How does he hold court if not many can move in the sunlight?"

Even sir Walter raised his eyebrows at my question. "I have not thought about that." He nodded to himself. "But I have seen people from his side in the court. The Grand courtroom does not have direct sunlight so maybe that affects them?"

That sounded more like a question than an examination so I would not take that as an answer.

"Forgive for interrupting you," I glanced at him, giving him the permission to go ahead, "How did you enjoy yourself?" His eyes went to my neck.

"Ah," my free hand moved to my neck as I lightly ran my fingers over the cloth. "This was. . "

"An attack?" He completed and turned my face to him.

"There has been more?" If there had been more attacks on then, why was Tristan focusing on punishing Marilyn more?

"So it was an attack then," he found his answer in my question, "and yes, they have been attacked. But mostly for the first ti. The second and for more people were willing."

That was bizarre. "Why were they allowing after the first ti being attacked?"

He shrugged slightly. "I have heard that it feels. . .quite different. ." He hesitated, "Good, as they out it."

I felt bile rise up in my throat. The familiar feeling of being attacked by soone I knew that looked so demonic crept up my spine again as I thought about the attack. "How in the world could soone sucking the blood out of you feel good?"

"I do not know." He sighed. "I really do not know that princes and no matter how many tis I ask different people their answer is the sa. They say it brings them pleasure."

That brought heat and colour to my cheeks as I looked away. Pleasure?

That was too much. "Just for pleasure they are willing to die?" That ca out as a an taunt rather than a question but sir Walter did not understand that.

"No, they do not drain the body. They only drink so amount. Apparently they can go for long periods of ti after just a small feeding."

Interesting. "People are willing?" He nodded.

That was good. That ant that Marilyn was going to be punished to make a statent in front of everyone.

"What do you think of all of this?" I asked him and he sucked his lip in, appearing to be thinking about it.

He shool his head. "I am still learning a lot about them everyday. So I would not ascertain them to be sothing which they might not be. For now I do not think that they are . . . bad."

I humd. He was right there. He said that he was learning sothing new everyday about them sorry certainly knew much more than I did. "What do you know about their beloveds?"

" Beloved," he repeated, "but from what I can tell, they are very important. The vampires cherish them very much."

"How much?" I repeated not really paying attention to it. I was not expecting an answer.

"Enough to never let them go it seems." He muttered under his breath.
