Even though she was already in the room, the smile on her face still refused to disappear from her lips. Her mood always got better every ti she talked to Lory, filled with joy Lilly jumped into bed while hugging a Lucas-shaped bolster. However, suddenly her happy mont was interrupted by her phone ringing. Lilly checked who the caller was, but the number was unknown. She hesitated for a mont, but then answered the call, "Hello?"
Suddenly a soft voice was heard "Miss Hamilton, this is Sean Lockwood"
Lilly jumped out of bed and imdiately beca alert "How did you get my number?"
Sean ignored Lilly’s wary tone, "I hope you’ll forgive , I asked one of your friends to give your number"
Lilly’s eyebrows furrowed, instead of appreciating it she beca apprehensive, "Can I help you, Mr. Lockwood?"
"Please call Sean," he said softly.
"I don’t think I can do that with a stranger Mr. Lockwood" Lilly quickly rejected him.
"That’s why we can et first so we can get to know each other, hm?" he gently persuaded her.
Unfortunately Lily was in a hypervigilant state so Sean’s seduction was futile. "I’m sorry, sir. But I’ve got a tight schedule lately so I don’t think I have ti to—"
"Co on..." Sean whined coquettishly, "Can you spare so ti? It won’t take long. You can bring your friends if that makes you feel more comfortable."
Sean’s attitude made it hard for Lilly to reject him, she didn’t want to be too obvious in rejecting him because she was afraid Sean would get suspicious plus Lory had warned her to stay away from Sean Lockwood.
"Umm, I don’t know... maybe I..."
Suddenly her room was slamd open and Hugo’s loud voice reverberated throughout the whole room "Lily, who are you talking to? I told you to stop contacting your stupid friends, don’t you ever learn from your mistakes?!"
"Grand...grandpa!" Lilly was petrified this was the first ti Hugo yelled at her. However, before she could cry, she saw Hugo wiggle his eyebrows playfully, indicating that he was just pretending.
Lilly understood that her grandfather just wanted to help her. She imdiately complied, pretending to be sad. Lill’s voice quivered, "Sorry...can...can we talk later!"
without waiting for Sean’s answer she hung up the phone.
’Piip - piip - piip’ the annoying disconnected ringtone was heard and Sean’s face darkened.
On the other side, Lilly patted her chest "Grandpa you scared "
"Sorry, I panicked..." Hugo said regretfully, even though he was only pretending, he still felt guilty for shouting at Lilly, "Is that, Sean Lockwood?"
Lilly pouted her lips as she nodded "Yes, I don’t know who gives my phone number?"
"Who knows, he might have hacked your phone." Hugo entered the room and then sat on the sofa after a while, the tension slowly lifted, it took a mont before he finally cald down.
Lilly saw a thin layer of sweat on her grandfather’s wrinkled forehead, he probably ran to his room. She poured him a glass of water and then sat down next to him, "Drink up, Grandpa."
Hugo took the glass then sighed, "Luckily the Noxcra agent who was monitoring your communication told that Sean Lockwood contacted you and they overheard your conversation and predicted you are not Sean Lockwood matched, they got worried you were unable to reject him so they imdiately contacted to tell what happened."
Ever since the Hamilton family accepted the protection of Noxcra agents, they had allowed every second of their lives to be monitored by Noxcra until the dangerous situation was resolved. Normally anyone would find this situation unbearable, but considering who the enemies were, the Hamilton family felt more assured with Noxcra agents watching over them and today proved their decision was not wrong.
"What does he want?" Hugo’s face hardened.
"He wanted to et , and he was quite pushy... I almost couldn’t have refused if you hadn’t co to help." Lilly was sure that Sean had an ulterior motive for approaching her.
While Hugo was thinking about what preventive asures he could take to ensure Lilly’s safety, Lilly said in a hesitant voice.
"Grandpa, judging by his Sean Lockwood character I don’t think he would give up easily, even if I lock myself in the house he will find a way to et ... so instead of hiding how about I just et him and find out what he wants?" she looks at Hugo under her brows.
As expected Hugo’s expression didn’t look good, "This isn’t a ga, you heard what Her Highness said, Sean Lockwood is a dangerous man, even I have a hard ti reading his true intentions, let alone you, even with your Gift you are no match for him."
Lily lowered her eyes dejectedly."I know, but that’s why this might work. Listen, Sean Lockwood won’t suspect that I’m planning to trick him. He probably thinks I’m just another stupid young heiress so he would let his guard down around . Who knows he might let out one or two important information, you know this isn’t just Lucient’s fight but it also involves Ethan because of the stupid thing he made beside after everything Princess Lorient had done for our family, we are obligated to help her, don’t you think?" Lilly tried to convince her grandfather.
What Lilly said made sense, no one would think a gullible heiress like Lilly could deceive soone like Sean Lockwood, but the risk was too grave. If it’s other people he might support Lily’s wish but Sean Lockwood is different, there’s sothing about that makes him feel uneasy.
"I understand Lilly but your Father and Mother do not agree with this..." Hugo tries to coax her.
When Lilly returned ho after eting Lory and the others, she expressed her desire to help the family regarding the problems with the S.A.I.N.T. organization and also Luxemborough of course Edmund and Marsha disagreed with Lilly endangering herself.
Hugo could already guess his Son and Daughter in-law reaction, he understood that Lilly didn’t want to be treated like a flower in a greenhouse and that desire grew even more after eting Princess Lorient, but as the youngest and only daughter in the family, it was only natural that Marsha and Edmund were more protective of her.
"I understand Grandpa but the enemy has targeted not only because I’m young but also because Ethan disappeared. I’m sure they will use any ans to find out where Ethan is" Lilly said.
Hugo rubbed his beard as he spoke in an anxious tone, "Not just Ethan, but they must want to know how much involvent we have with Garrof and Lloyd, not to ntion the matter of Miss Boyd who escaped from the S.A.I.N.T. organization with Owen and Daniel. They must be looking for them and the only lead they have is our family..."
"Then what should we do, Grandpa? Should we all move to Harland, seek refuge with the Lucient family, make them fight for us again...how many sacrifices must the Lucient family make for us?" Lilly said in a sarcastic tone.
Hugo fell silent, his mory brought him back to when Lory had unknowingly saved him during the Dark Age of War, the black wings that blended with the midnight sky and the dim eyes that stared at him as if she had been abandoned by the entire world but here she was saving strangers as if she couldn’t help it.
He never asked what the black wings ant because Ethan told him that the wings that saved him that day at the Aeon were white so why were they black back then...what happened to Princess Lorient? Was that the reason she suddenly disappeared for so many years?
"Grandfather, as a Hamilton, I want to protect my family in any way I can, just like Princess Lorient protected her family. Although unlike her, there are only a few things I can do. Even so... I want to do everything I can. I want to prove to myself that I’m not just the pretty flower that people think I am and what better opportunity than now?" Lilly holds Hugo’s hands tightly, her eyes full with determination.
Hugo took a deep breath and patted Lily’s head gently. "I’ll talk to your parents, given the circumstances, we probably can’t avoid it anyway, but you have to promise to put your own safety first and not do anything stupid like your idiot brother."At Harland Ethan suddenly sneeze.
A bright smile blood on Lilly’s beautiful face, then she jumped and hugged Hugo happily "I promised - I promised!"
