Chapter 409: 206 Pregnancy (Two updates combined into one)

After Li Wanwan finished playing, she was sowhat concerned for Gu Jiao.

She had indeed heard so noise just now, but the lady on the other side of the wall didn’t ask her to stop, so she had to play on bravely.

When she finished playing, the noise had ceased.

She stood up, looking at the cold wall, worriedly asking, “Miss, are you alright?”

“You played two notes wrong.”

The response she received was a calm and icy voice.

...

Li Wanwan was taken aback.

Despite the commotion just now, you’re sure you weren’t fighting? You could still hear that I played the wrong notes, what kind of genius are you?

“Well, I’ll play it again.” Li Wanwan said softly.

“Uh-huh.” Gu Jiao dusted her wide sleeves and lay back down on the rattan chair, leisurely basking in the sun.

This ti, Li Wanwan concentrated her utmost attention, finally not making any mistakes.

At noon, the patient who had been pasted with a black strip woke up.

He was an unregistered worker, a fact that Gu Changqing had confird yesterday.

This accident mostly injured unregistered workers hired secretly by the Ministry of Works. They were all impoverished, and so didn’t even have family, which is why they had ended up this way.

However, all the other unregistered workers at least had a friend visiting. This man, though, had been there for two days without anything.

He lay alone in the hospital bed, his vitality strong and stubborn.

His burn area was extensive, needing normal saline to clean the wound every day, which was as painful as scraping bones and flesh.

Doctor Song had just changed his dicine and was unsure if his hands were too rough, accidentally waking the patient with pain, causing him deep embarrassnt.

“Leave this to ; you go check on the other patients.” Gu Jiao walked in with a first-aid kit.

“Ah, okay!” Doctor Song, his face pale with cold sweat, exited the room.

Gu Jiao had applied nurous black strips, a choice of helplessness yet a necessary one. Their survival rate was nearly zero; treating them would lead to the deaths of many critical patients who could be saved.

Among all the patients deed worthless for ergency treatnt, only this one survived.

“How are you feeling? Can you hear speak?” Gu Jiao placed the first-aid kit on the bedside table, took out a small flashlight from it, and shone it in his eyes.

His pupillary reaction was normal.

He opened his mouth, apparently wanting to say sothing, but his throat was too hoarse, and he couldn’t make a sound.

Gu Jiao understood, took the depressor to check his throat: “There’s a slight swelling, and it’s a bit inflad. We’ll use so anti-inflammatory drugs, it’s not a big deal. You’ll be able to talk in a few days. Can you hear ? If you can, blink once.”

He blinked once.

His anti-inflammatory drugs were finished; there was only one bag left of the supplent that could replenish electrolytes. Gu Jiao changed the supplent bag, adjusted the drip rate.

“After this bottle, it’s finished. I will co and pull out the needle later.” Gu Jiao spoke, and began tidying up the first aid kit to leave.

The man’s emotions suddenly beca agitated.

Gu Jiao pressed down on his wrist. His injuries were severe, and his rapid pulse could easily cause complications.

Gu Jiao gently comforted him: “Don’t be agitated first, your injuries can be treated, and our dical Hall will do everything we can… You don’t have to worry about the dical expenses, the Yan will pay.”

But he was still very agitated.

Gu Jiao thought for a mont, asked: “Do you want to ask about others? If yes, blink, if no, close your eyes.”

The man blinked once.

Gu Jiao said: “Your companions? The craftsn at Yan?”

The man closed his eyes.

Gu Jiao: “Family?”

The man hesitated for a mont, then blinked once.

Gu Jiao continued: “Are you asking if any family has been to see you?”

The man closed his eyes.

He had family but wasn’t asking about whether they had co to visit him, though he seed worried about them.

“Do you have people at ho?” Gu Jiao asked.

The man blinked heavily.

Since the man could not speak, Gu Jiao had to bring out a map of Capital City, but alas, she was not familiar with the locations in the city and couldn’t figure out where he was referring to.

Gu Changqing ca to the dical Hall to seek out the awakened workers to investigate the accident today. Hearing about Gu Jiao’s situation, he overca to tell her: “I’ll ask him.”

The map of Capital City only detailed the roads and didn’t specify every small alley or mansion. It was only because Gu Changqing had patrolled around Capital City for many years, familiarising himself with every corner of it, that he could find out where the man lived.

“I see, I’ll go and notify your family.” Gu Changqing returned the map to Gu Jiao and left the dical Hall.

Gu Changqing found the man’s residence in the dirtiest, most chaotic, and impoverished outskirts of Capital City. It could hardly be called a residence, it was rely a shanty that barely provided shelter from the wind and rain.
