Chapter 1377: The couple sees each other Chapter 1377: The couple sees each other On the Martial Arts Arena of the Back Mountain belonging to the Han Family, the heir with his Red-Tasseled Spear cleaved through the air and struck down, making his opponent retreat several steps.

After stabilizing himself, the opponent saluted the heir with a clasped hand and said, “Heir, I have lost!”

Drenched in heavy sweat and breathing slightly heavy, the heir threw his Red-Tasseled Spear to a guard by his side and said, “Stand down, and don’t forget to tend to your injuries.”

“Yes!”

The defeated Han Family warrior left the Martial Arts Arena aided by two guards.

A Changsui approached, carrying a clean towel.

The heir took the towel to wipe the sweat off his face and turned to the middle-aged man who had been watching the fight and said, “Uncle, what do you think?”

The man referred to as the uncle by the heir was none other than the Han Family’s second master, Han Yong.

Han Yong, with his hands clasped behind his back, walked over and said, “You’ve improved since last month.”

The heir quickly regained his steady breathing. Clearly not fully satisfied with the outco, he continued to ask, “How does it compare to Xuanyuan Sheng back in his day?”

Xuanyuan Sheng, the legitimate eldest son of the Xuanyuan Family, was a martial arts prodigy renowned in the six nations, having mastered the true teachings of Xuanyuan Li and acclaid as the only person who might catch up to the War God of Xuanyuan.

Han Yong had once served under Xuanyuan Sheng.

Han Yong pondered for a mont, then said, “You are still young. With diligent practice, you might reach the heights of Xuanyuan Sheng.”

“So I still haven’t surpassed him,” the heir stated as he extended his hand to the guard holding the Red-Tasseled Spear.

Understanding the gesture, the guard handed over the Red-Tasseled Spear with both hands.

The heir practiced another round of Spear Technique, each move brimming with lethal intent.

After the practice, he himself appeared sowhat unsatisfied, furrowed his brows, and said, “It’s still no match for Xuanyuan Li’s divine weapon.”

Han Yong chuckled and said, “You need not rush. Xuanyuan Sheng, at your age, might not have had your skill. He made his na early on the Battlefield, fighting his way out through a pile of corpses. What you lack is rely so opportunities for true experience.”

Once again, the heir tossed the Red-Tasseled Spear to his guard.

The Red-Tasseled Spear was too heavy; the guard stumbled several steps, nearly dropping it.

The heir asked, “Have there been any new masters in Shengdu recently?”

Han Yong replied, “Are you referring to the underground martial arts circles? None for the ti being. When there are, I’ll inform you so you can go and compete. In fact, the warriors of the Han Family are not bad either; it’s a pity that their style differs from yours, making them not the most suitable opponents.”

The warriors’ skills were varied, but none was the perfect sparring partner for the heir. Fighting them only stimulated the instinct to kill, not progress in martial arts.

Han Yong continued, “In Shengdu, you are already without equal, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Ah, right, I nearly forgot to tell you sothing.”

The heir said, “Please speak, Uncle.”

Han Yong said, “The sovereign’s birthday is approaching, and the noble consort sent a ssage from the palace, inviting you and your brother to attend the banquet as well.”

The heir paused, then said, “Cheche is too injured, I’m afraid he can’t make it.”

Han Yong smiled and replied, “It’s fine if you go.”

The heir didn’t say whether he would go but instead asked, “Hasn’t the sovereign stopped celebrating his birthdays long ago? Why is there suddenly a birthday banquet now?”

The sovereign and the Princess shared the sa birthday. Ever since the Princess conspired with the Xuanyuan Family in a rebellion, the sovereign stopped observing his birthday in grand fashion.

Han Yong laughed and shook his head, “Who knows? Our sovereign is capricious and inscrutable, and no one can guess what he’s truly thinking.”

“Heir!”

While they were speaking, two experts who had been sent to shadow soone had returned; both were close guards of the heir, one nad Sun Feng and the other Zheng Hai.

Sun Feng was the one whose purse had been stolen.

Both n simultaneously saluted the heir.

Seeing their disheveled appearance, the heir asked coolly, “Why are you back so soon? Where is the person you were following?”

Looking at each other, Sun Feng braced himself, clasped his hand, and reported, “We, we lost track of him.”

“Lost track?” The heir was mildly astonished. “How could the two of you have lost soone?”

The two guards were embarrassed.

They were the entrusted guards of the heir, skilled in their own right, and it was rare for them to slip up in their duties up until today.

“Sun Feng’s purse was stolen as well,” said Zheng Hai.

Sun Feng glared at Zheng Hai, “Didn’t I tell you not to ntion that?”

Would it not be humiliating if word got out that a thief had pilfered from a guard of the Han Family?

Sun Feng had realized that it was the young girl who had skillfully taken his purse.

Still, even so, he and Zheng Hai did not connect her with the young man they were supposed to be tracking; after all, one was a woman, and the other was a man.
