Chapter 1066: 516 Awakening (two updates)_2 Chapter 1066: 516 Awakening (two updates)_2 This was a fortress large enough to accommodate an army of ten thousand, and though Princess Ning An was allowed the freedom to go anywhere, she never ventured out.
The Silver Fox man nodded thoughtfully as he said, “Understood. Guard the courtyard vigilantly and report to imdiately at the slightest disturbance.”
“Yes!”
The crowd responded in unison.
The Silver Fox man entered the courtyard.
Elsewhere, Fei Shi settled Gu Jiao in a small wooden cottage.
Gu Jiao’s little basket was also brought over by a soldier.
“Vice Commander Fei, how should we deal with this basket?” the soldier asked.
This basket had been personally dug out of the snowfield by Fei Shi and, along with the Red-Tasseled Spear, delivered into the hands of their superior. The superior took only the spear, clearly uninterested in the contents of the basket.
Fei Shi glanced at it and saw nothing but so hard, dry rations and a tattered little box.
The box exuded a faint dicinal sll—it was surely a first aid kit.
“Take it all down,” Fei Shi said, pausing before adding, “Actually, give that box.”
After all, there might be valuable dicinal materials inside.
“Yes.” The soldier handed the little dicine box to Fei Shi and then went down with the basket.
Fei Shi sent soone to fetch the dical officer accompanying them.
While waiting for the dical officer to arrive, Fei Shi tried to open the little dicine box but, despite his efforts, couldn’t pry it open.
Touching the lid, he remarked curiously, “It’s not even locked.”
He then drew out a dagger, inserted it into the gap beneath the box lid, attempting to pry it open.
With a sharp clang, his dagger broke but the lid remained intact.
“What kind of damned box is this!” Fei Shi stood up impatiently, kicked the small dicine box, and looked at the broken part of the dagger in his hand, lanting, “That was the dagger the lord gave … hardly used…”
While grumbling, the dical officer was brought over by a soldier.
Fei Shi pulled out the broken blade stuck in the box and walked out, cursing, intending to see if the dagger could still be repaired.
After taking a few steps, he turned back and threw the little box that had broken his dagger into the fire basin!
As for Gu Jiao on the bedchamber, Fei Shi had never seen anyone frozen to such a state and revived; yet, as he had orders from his lord, he found a rope and bound Gu Jiao’s hands and feet.
The dical officer entered the room and bowed to Fei Shi.
Fei Shi said coldly, “The lord’s orders are to keep him alive at all costs. Use whatever good dicines you have on him.”
“Understood,” the dical officer replied.
Fei Shi left to repair his dagger while the dical officer approached the bedside and set his own dicine box on the small table by the head of the bed.
Considering the fact that it was a soldier, there was no need to be concerned about propriety between n and won; the dical officer sat down by the bedside.
Gu Jiao’s hands were tied together, resting on her stomach.
The dical officer didn’t dare untie Gu Jiao’s ropes, and just like that, took her pulse.
Without feeling her pulse, he wouldn’t have known; but once he did, he had quite the shock.
“It’s… it’s…”
It was a girl!
The dical officer’s body jolted, and he instinctively stood up, but his hand was suddenly seized by a pair of ice-cold, unfeeling hands.
The dical officer’s mouth dropped open: “He—”
Before he could finish speaking, a blade, seemingly out of nowhere, rested against his wrist.
The dical officer was completely baffled by this series of events!
What was happening?
Wasn’t she nearly frozen to death?
How did she suddenly wake up?
Waking up was one thing, but where on earth did she get a knife to cut at his wrist?
Gu Jiao had awoken while Fei Shi was tying her up with rope. She didn’t know who Fei Shi was, but since he had bound her with rope, he obviously didn’t intend to treat her well.
After Fei Shi left, she quietly took out the blade hidden inside the armor on her arm.
Speaking of which, this armor was excellently crafted, capable of hiding hidden weapons everywhere, almost as if it had been custom-made for her.
Gu Jiao’s eyes were as cold and unfeeling as her hands, causing the dical officer to tremble.
Gu Jiao signaled to the soldier outside the door with her eyes.
Realizing what she ant, the dical officer, sweaty and swallowing hard, spoke in a regular tone, “Young man over there, could you fetch a bucket of hot water?”
The soldier wanted to ask why don’t you get it yourself?
But as it was the dical officer, the soldier didn’t dare to offend and held back his impatience to go fetch the water.
As soon as the soldier left, Gu Jiao cut through the ropes: “Don’t make a sound! Or I’ll slit your throat!”
The dical officer was successfully intimidated.
Gu Jiao then tied him up with the rope and stuffed a wad of cotton from the pillow into his mouth.
Afterward, Gu Jiao quickly noticed the small dicine box burning in the fire basin, her gaze turning icy as she pulled the box out.
