Chapter 389: Chapter 389 – I will never forgive you
Jacob, you are my son. It doesn’t matter that you don’t have my blood," Ethel said sorrowfully. From the look on Jacob’s face, it was obvious to her that he already discovered the truth.
Jacob was heartbroken. He expected to hear sothing different. He expected to be proved wrong but not for his mother to admit that Robin was indeed right. Thus, Jacob felt played and his heart was heavy.
"So, it’s true. How could you do this to ? How could you tear
away from my family?" Rage boiled inside of him as he looked closely at the woman he had known all his life as his mother.
Ethel was pathetic. She knew that what she did was wrong but she didn’t regret it because of the profound love Jacob showed her.
He grew up like his father, though he didn’t have the resemblance Robin had of him. Jacob was never attracted to any woman and Ethel felt it was because he hadn’t t the right person yet.
"I’m sorry but I love you. I always have," a tear rolled down Ethel’s cheek. The only thing she feared was to lose the man who has always been her son, even if they never shared the sa DNA.
Jacob sunk to the floor with a heavy heart. "That is no excuse. So, all that you told
about my father were lies?" He was furious and Ethel was afraid but decided to recount her love story to him.
"I loved him but he never even looked at . I confessed my love to him when I saw him but he took my love for granted." She swallowed bitterly as she spoke, Jacob did not even spare her a glance as he asked,
"Where was my mother by then?" He saw the pain in Ethel’s eyes and rephrased the question. "I an my biological mother."
Though Ethel was wrong, she indeed treated Jacob like a son and was all she had at the mont. The harm had already been done but he still wanted to know the details of the story.
"We were best friends since college and before she t your father, she used to be fun-loving. I t your father first during his birthday party and I fell in love with him instantly. Your mother was in Ibiza by then but your father never gave
attention."
Ethel swallowed a lump in her throat, recalling her bitter one-sided love story. "Your mother went to look for a job after spending her ti vacationing across the world. She wasn’t broke but didn’t want to work for the crazy uncle who raised her when her parents died young."
"She told
that your father called her personally for the job but she didn’t want to do it because of how he seed to have an interest in her."
"I felt jealous and advised her not to take the offer, but your father sent the application to her house and was able to convince her to accept. Exactly one month later, he proposed to her before your mother introduced
to him."
"He pretended as if he never saw
before. I went to visit your mother often so I would see your father, but all my tricks to get his attention did not work. I couldn’t love anyone else and couldn’t move on even after they got married."
Jacob felt strange and afraid. It was exactly how he felt about Sabrina. He knew she was married, divorced, and engaged to the sa man but could not shake off what he felt for her the mont he saw her.
It was the reason why he directly told Robin about it, though his initial plans were just to destroy Robin. Sabrina’s presence in his office that day made the ga interesting.
"When your mother got pregnant after a few years, my envy of her increased because I still couldn’t move on and she had a doting husband whom I was in love with. Then when she told
she was pregnant with twins, I hatched the perfect plan."
Ethel’s expression was sorrowful, as more tears rolled down her cheeks, but Jacob was feeling worse, knowing that his life would have been different if he had grown up with his real parents.
"I never wanted to marry any man except your father and since I couldn’t have him, I wanted his child so I caused him an accident, but not a terrible one to make him lose his life when your mother inford
that she was in labor."
"Your father received the call in his office and was rushing over. I knew that if he had gotten there, he would have been by her bedside throughout and all my plans would not have worked, so I paid soone to knock him over from the passenger side."
"I had already planned with one of the midwives and though I wanted Robin because he looked like your father, I had you instead."
The revelation that even Ethel preferred Robin to him increased the bitterness in Jacob’s heart, but he allowed Ethel to continue her confession.
"You have been a constant reminder of my past sin because of how you look like my best friend, your biological mother, and I’m very sorry."
Jacob did not realize it when a tear rolled down his cheek and his voice beca heavy with it.
"All along, you watched
go against my twin brother and you are telling
that you are sorry?" He asked with a pained expression, Ethel cried so more.
I warned you not to do it. There was no other way for
to say it. Please Jacob, you brought so much joy to my life and I would understand if you want to press charges, but I need you to know that I love you so much," she said honestly, then began to cough.
Jacob panicked, but she reached for her inhaler, which the doctor Robin had sent to her earlier, had given her. After she cald down, Jacob asked,
"So all the billions of cash and assets you put under my na, who do they belong to?"
"They belong to my parents. They were very wealthy, and I inherited everything as an only child. I’m very sorry," Ethel apologized, but without remorse.
Jacob forced a smile and stood up. Pain filled his eyes as he said, "You know what, Mom? I could forgive you for everything, but I can’t forgive you for ruining my chances with Sabrina. If I had grown up with my real parents, I would have been the one to have her."
Ethel let out a sad smile. She must have kept away from her best friend, Robin’s mother, but that didn’t an she wasn’t privy to information in California, where she had relocated. "Sabrina has always loved Robin."
Jacob was pained and retorted, "It wouldn’t have been the sa if I was there. Unless you can help
get her, I will never forgive you," he said coldly, and walked out of the hotel room, leaving Ethel puzzled.
