Chapter 323: Chapter 323 – I would never allow any harm to co to you again, I promise.
Robin forced a smile to calm his nerves, not wanting Sabrina to worry about anything in her condition.
He quickly picked up his phone and said,
"I don’t understand what you’re saying, uncle. The network seems to be terrible here. Let
step out of the room and see if it improves."
The general understood that Robin was with Sabrina and was trying to find a way to excuse himself. He replied,
"Okay."
Lowering the phone from his ear, Robin realized he was still in his boxer shorts and the maids were asleep. He decided not to bother putting on any clothes before turning to Sabrina and saying,
"My queen, please give
a few minutes. I apologize."
Sabrina sighed, disappointnt flashing in her eyes. However, knowing that both their phones had been silent throughout their entire trip in Paris, she reluctantly agreed.
It was the weekend, and they didn’t want any disturbances. This call could have ruined everything for them and cut their trip short.
"Uncle, I’m sorry, but I didn’t quite catch what you just said. Could you please repeat it?" Robin asked, seeking the safety of his study and ensuring the door was securely locked.
"Robin, I deeply apologize. I have no one to bla but myself. I placed so much trust in them, never suspecting they would be swayed," the general expressed remorse, though his voice still carried a sense of authority.
This situation not only involved Sabrina, but also Matilda.
"No, uncle, please tell
that Martin and Mara are no longer alive," Robin pleaded, unable to bear the weight of this news and unwilling to accept it.
There was a brief pause on the line before the general responded,
"That’s what I initially believed, but when I reviewed the secret cara footage after returning last night, I sensed sothing suspicious. I’ve been trying to reach you ever since."
"I even feared they might have hard you," he admitted, feeling a surge of tension.
The general’s reply confird the inevitable, dashing any hopes of obtaining the ashes Robin desired.
"No, I took my wife to Paris," Robin clarified, his voice heavy with emotions.
"That is good to know. I believe it would be best for her safety if you kept her close to you until I locate them. My n were bribed, so everything you witnessed was rely a performance," the general disclosed, causing Robin’s heart to sink.
Although he desired to take action, Robin had never personally taken a life. He trusted those who were accustod to eliminating the villains and safeguarding innocent lives to handle it.
Therefore, how could he have known that even individuals like them could be corrupted?
"But they appeared lifeless... Mara, in particular, seed dead," Robin recollected the state in which he had left Martin. The general confird that Zayla was already deceased.
"Yes, but that was a result of my own torture. They were administered a chemical that induces the appearance of death, and once in a secure location, they can be revived through a shock," the general revealed on the other end of the line. Robin shook his head in disagreent.
He couldn’t bear the thought of Sabrina living in a world where she constantly had to be on guard, especially given her condition.
"No, they will co after Sabrina," Robin stated firmly.
"And Matilda, because of what I did to them. I don’t have any leads on finding them, but considering the extent of the torture I inflicted, they will require nurous surgeries to recover," the general confessed once again, causing Robin to relax slightly.
Realizing that his n had failed him and would face consequences, the general understood the importance of ensuring the safety of the victims. This was the reason why he had reached out to Robin.
"In that case, it will take so ti before they strike or even make an appearance," Robin responded, contemplating the opportunity to locate them before they could cause any harm upon their return.
"I share the sa belief, but please exercise caution and maintain security around them. I will send you the video footage of everything that transpired. My n were unaware of the specific cara I had installed, so they erased all other evidence," the general explained.
"Please inform Devin to keep a close watch on Matilda for . I have an urgent assignnt to attend to, so I will be leaving in a few hours. Even upon my return, my focus will be on finding them," the general instructed, determined to locate the perpetrators, before any further harm anyone.
"As for my n, I know how to handle them, but I need to obtain their confession, which I will also forward to you," the general concluded, emphasizing his commitnt to bringing justice to those responsible.
Since he was going to provide Robin with evidence, the latter was pleased. It would greatly assist in his search as well.
"Alright. Do what you need to do and please inform
when you find them."
"I will, and if anything cos up, you know where to reach . But when is Zayla’s final hearing?" the general inquired, redirecting Robin’s attention to the demon in question.
"Tomorrow. The trial took place last week, and she pleaded guilty."
"Smart move," the general replied. Zayla’s admission of guilt made the process easier and faster, eliminating the need for Sabrina or Robin to testify against her.
The sa applied to her father, as they had lost all hope. With the overwhelming evidence against them, they were certain that even with a good lawyer, they would never have been able to win the case.
"All the evidence pointed against them, and they couldn’t even afford a lawyer, except for the one appointed by the state. They knew not to waste anyone’s ti."
"Alright. I will be in touch," the general forced a smile and said from the other end of the line, still seething with anger over his n’s betrayal.
After Robin hung up, he decided to reach out to Pete, but knowing that Pete had no intention of returning to the states, Robin left him a ssage instead.
’Please call
as soon as you receive this ssage. It’s extrely urgent.’
He then sent another ssage to Daniel and Devin. "We need to talk urgently. Let’s et in my office at 9." As Robin returned to the bedroom, he found Sabrina fast asleep.
He lay beside her, facing her, and made a solemn vow.
"I will never allow any harm to co near you again. I promise." He gently kissed her forehead before cradling her safely in his arms.
