Chapter 142: Chapter 142 - It seems you are beginning to use your power

Mara began to sweat. This could not be happening to her. Not after all the efforts she put in to put Sabrina in her grave. That waitress must indeed have so answers and Mara was more determined to get it from her.

"Get

any of her family mbers," she requested as a matter of ergency. The response was another disappointing one after being on the line for another three minutes.

"They all left."

Mara could feel her blood pressure rising. Since she was a child, she kept losing to Sabrina, just like she had an accident right after setting that fire and was paralyzed. It took years of secret physiotherapy for her to regain strength in her legs again.

When Sabrina married Robin, Mara thought everything was finally over and Martin would forget her but no. He kept loving and obsessing over her. All other attempts Mara made on Sabrina’s life equally failed.

When she finally got the chance to eliminate Sabrina for good, she seed to have failed again. This ti, she was also sure to have been duped so she called Zayla on the phone since Zayla had inford her that everything worked as planned. When the phone rang, Zayla was in her room alone so she answered it.

"Hello."

Mara never called anyone with her personal number since that was registered in her brother’s na. For that reason, Zayla had no idea she was the one calling until she answered the phone.

"Zayla, did everything work out as you said?"

Mara’s tone was so cold, the chills cleared the sleep from Zayla’s eyes when she heard Mara’s voice. She responded in a serious tone,

"Yes, everything worked out and Robin said that Sabrina ate the food so I wonder why she’s still alive. Maybe the poison was fake. Did you test it?" Zayla asked seriously, not wanting Mara to feel that she failed her part.

Mara was silent for a while before she responded, "I didn’t test it but it was from a reliable source." She did not want to tell Zayla that it was her father who directed her to where to get it.

"Hmmm Mara, you might have used too little or a wrong one," Zayla knowingly said. Since Sabrina was not dead yet, it would be easy for her baby to be Zayla’s so she wanted to protect it.

Mara would have believed it if she had been able to reach the waitress but since she could not do so, she was still persistent that the waitress did not do her part well.

"I will talk to you later, Zayla."

After Mara hung up, Zayla was about to sleep when her phone rang again. Thinking it was Mara forgetting sothing, she was shocked to hear a deep voice.

"Ma’am, you have not paid my money so don’t be surprised when you hear the news in the papers tomorrow morning."

Zayla was so upset. If she had not contracted this fool, he would not have had the guts to speak to her that way. Her anger rose and she yelled, "Hey, hold on, I will pay you right now but it has to be into an untraceable account."

Zayla had no choice but to fall on Robin’s money. She hardly used it without informing him but she did not have a choice even though he might see her for the gold digger she was.

Weighing her options, she was sure that should the thief spread the news, she would lose everything and Robin would begin to doubt her.

"Just pay

cash," the thief responded and Zayla thought it was a laudable idea since it would not be traced as to whom she gave the money to.

Robin would only know that she withdrew money from the account he gave her and she could just find so explanation to give him.

"Then et

at the original place, at the sa ti," Zayla responded before hanging up the phone.

The next morning, she waited until she heard the sound of Robin’s car before coming out of her room.

She was already dressed, went to the bank, and withdrew a lot of money. Lucky for her, Robin was in an important eting and the bankers could not reach him.

Also, he had pre-inford them due to Zayla’s condition to honor her request at all tis if he could not be reached.

Robin was doing it for the sake of his unborn child, in case there was an ergency and Zayla needed cash when he was not around.

Zayla was smart enough to take advantage of it. Since it was a large sum of money, she allowed her father to co with her and they paid off the thief.

The mont the thief collected the money and left, Zayla vowed to never use the likes of him again.

She did not even leave their eting place when her phone began to ring. When she saw the caller, she was nervous.

"What is the problem?" Her father asked, seeing how she paled all at once.

"It’s Robin," Zayla shivered and spoke, not expecting Robin to find out so soon. She had even withdrawn extra for her father due to the money she stole to pay the thief his deposit.

"Let

guess, he isn’t aware of the money," Ken discerned and Zayla nodded her head.

"What would I have told him?" She asked helplessly when Ken smiled sinisterly.

"So, what would you tell him now?" He was happy that Zayla was taking the bull by the horn. What was the essence of dating a rich man and not making his money yours?

"I don’t know. I should be able to think up sothing before reaching the penthouse or go to bed early to avoid his questions. That money is nothing to Robin and he would get over it," Zayla said, trying to convince herself that she did nothing wrong.

Her father seed happy with her decision.

"Good. It seems you are beginning to use your power. Thanks for sorting

out too," He said and began to look for a cab.

"You are welco," Zayla said and sat in her car after bidding her father goodbye. As the driver was driving her to the penthouse, he made a turn which got Zayla confused.

"Where are you going? I said to the penthouse," Zayla said in annoyance. She was not in a good mood. The driver hesitated and little before he revealed,

"Mr. Jewel told

to bring you to his office." Zayla went into hyperventilation.
