The Pregnant Treasured Little Wife: Master Lancaster's Nightly Coaxing Chapter 79: Misunderstanding
Nia didn’t say a word and started the car, heading straight for the Lancaster Group.
Both she and Reese Lancaster understood what Young Madam intended to do.
They didn’t report to Elias Lancaster about Young Madam’s visit to the company.
It was a spur-of-the-mont decision.
It should be a surprise.
They were almost at the company.
Serena Yeats’ heart began to race faster and faster.
This was the first ti she’d done sothing like this, and she couldn’t help but feel nervous.
Very soon.
The car pulled into the Lancaster Group’s parking lot.
Nia took her to the top floor, "Young Madam, we’ll be here in the parking lot, call us if you need anything."
Serena shook her head, "You can go ahead and rest, I’ll go ho with Elias later."
Nia thought about it; this was the Lancaster Group, there wouldn’t be any danger, so she nodded and left.
At this mont, everyone was busy wrapping up their work.
Serena looked at the office door in front of her, feeling nervous as if she were doing sothing wrong.
She gently pushed the door open, took a peek inside, and walked in quietly.
She thought she would see a busy Elias, but when she looked around, the office was empty.
She felt a pang of disappointnt.
She walked over to the sofa and sat down, thinking maybe he was at a eting, so she’d wait for a while.
She sat there staring at the doorway, waiting for an entire hour.
But that door never opened.
The person she wanted to see never appeared.
But it was already past quitting ti.
Could he have gone to pick her up?
She quickly took out her phone and glanced at it, noticing a ssage from Elias.
She had been too nervous the whole way and hadn’t checked her phone.
She opened it.
"Baby, I have sothing to do today, I’ll be ho later, Nia will take you ho."
She got up, left Elias’s office, and went to the office next door.
Quentin Shaw was busy, and he was startled to see Serena walk in.
"Ma’am, what brings you here?" Quentin asked.
Serena asked directly, "I ca to pick up Elias after work, do you know where he went?"
"President Lancaster went out with VP Quinn, I’ll call him now." Quentin said imdiately.
Upon hearing VP Quinn’s na, Serena’s first thought was Selene Quincy.
Her heart skipped a beat as she watched Quentin preparing to make the call.
For so reason, she instinctively stopped him, "No need, don’t tell him I ca."
She didn’t know why, but her heart felt uneasy.
She didn’t want Elias to know she had been there.
Quentin noticed her pale face, "Ma’am, you don’t look well, are you feeling unwell?"
Serena forced a smile, "I’m fine, you don’t need to tell him, I’ll just wait for him to co back."
With that, she said thank you and walked back to Elias’s office, feeling lost.
Quentin watched her pale face.
And thought about whether he’d said sothing wrong earlier.
In the end.
He felt that she must have misunderstood sothing.
He quickly sent a ssage to inform Elias about Serena’s visit to the company.
anwhile, in the office, Serena sat on the sofa, her face pale.
Countless possibilities crossed her mind.
She knew she should trust Elias.
But she couldn’t help but imagine.
Perhaps it’s because she’s so afraid of losing him.
Afraid she’s not good enough for him.
Afraid soone outstanding might attract him.
He’s in a high position, surrounded by so many great people, and she...
What if, one day, he doesn’t want her anymore...
Serena dared not to think about it further, burying her face in her knees, engulfed in sorrow.
She had no confidence in herself whatsoever.
She never really knew how important she was in Elias’s heart.
These emotions surfaced when she heard about Elias dining with another woman.
She cried for quite a while and then began to wonder.
If Elias returned and saw her like this, would he want her even less?
Perhaps it would be best for her to leave.
As if she had never been there, never heard anything.
Serena wiped her tears, washed her face, took her bag, and left the office.
She didn’t even know how she walked out of the company.
Wandering aimlessly on the streets alone.
Watching the multitude of people and vehicles passing by.
She felt lost.
As if without Elias, she was nothing, unable to do anything.
She didn’t like this version of herself.
Feeling worn out, she sat in a park, watching couples pass by, talking and laughing.
Images of what Selene Quincy had said that day filled her mind.
Yeah, he never brought her to et friends.
Their marriage registration was rushed.
Her mother ntioned having a wedding once, but he said she was pregnant, fearing she’d tire, so they’d wait until after the baby was born.
Now, the babies are six months old, and no one has ntioned the wedding since.
The more Serena thought, the more chaotic her mind beca.
Suddenly, a baby’s cry reached her ears.
She looked up and saw a baby wailing loudly.
His mother was holding him, soothing him gently.
Yeah.
She still had two babies!
With this thought, she wiped her tears, stood up, and hailed a taxi ho.
And in the president’s office of the Lancaster Group, Elias was dark-faced.
Quentin didn’t dare to make a sound.
He rushed back upon receiving Quentin’s ssage.
But when he returned, she was gone.
After hearing Quentin’s report.
He imdiately checked the surveillance footage, and upon seeing the pale and distressed Serena on the screen, his heart ached.
He knew she must have misunderstood sothing.
He wondered if she had gone ho.
He quickly called ho, but Nanny Livingston said she hadn’t returned.
Theodore Lynch was now pulling up the surveillance from the company entrance.
It showed her leaving the company’s doors alone, heading elsewhere.
Just as he was becoming anxious.
There was a call from ho.
"Did Serena return?"
"Young Master, Young Madam is back, but she seems a bit off." Nanny Livingston said.
"I’m heading back imdiately."
Elias grabbed his car keys and strode out.
Serena locked herself in the nursery as soon as she got ho.
Looking at her two children, so cute, she kept thinking.
If she ever left, what would happen to Yara and Yuri?
Would she ever see them again?
Suddenly, the nursery door opened, and she thought it was the nanny, but it was Elias.
His steps were hurried, his expression grim, advancing towards her step by step.
Serena paused, looked at him, sniffed, wiped her tears, and forced a smile.
The sight of that smile pierced Elias’s heart.
He had rushed back after the call, only to find his beloved secretly shedding tears.
His heart clenched, his expression turned cold.
He knew she must have misunderstood, otherwise, why would she leave the company only to hide here and cry?
He stood in front of her, looking at her, not knowing how to start.
To Serena, his silence and stern face ant sothing else entirely.
She thought his deanor was because she had disrupted his childhood friend dinner with Selene Quincy.
Her mind raced, and the only thing she could think to say was, "I’m sorry..."
