Chapter 59: 059 Don’t make worry Chapter 59: 059 Don’t make worry On the ruins, a lifeguard hurried over, stepping briskly across the rubble.
He stood at a distance and took a look, then imdiately bent his head, pressing the call button on his shoulder,
“Gong Yi, Gong Yi, I’ve spotted Sister Hua, she seems very uncomfortable, coordinates are XXX, XXX.”
It was quite a coincidence, the only smooth way out of the city was this one, and it happened that Gong Yi was on it searching for survivors.
Quickly, a tall and stalwart figure ran out from the rubble, sprinted through the persistent rain, and arrived swiftly and agilely behind Hua Mi.
Hua Mi was still vomiting, wearing a raincoat made of Waterproof Oilcloth, her back appearing delicate as if she were a water hyacinth in the violent wind.
Gong Yi frowned, his brows knotted, and reached out, pressing his hand on Hua Mi’s shoulder, about to speak.
Hua Mi, who was stooped forward, turned back, her pale face devoid of any color and her usually lively fox-like eyes now dull.
She was vomiting severely, involuntary tears forced out.
A glimr of water shone in the corners of her slightly upturned eyes, so fragile it seed a gust of wind might knock her down.
The problem was, she had nothing left to vomit, it was all dry heaving.
“What’s happened to you?”
Gong Yi’s brows were deeply furrowed, his bloodstained fingers about to touch Hua Mi’s face but hesitating, afraid to dirty her.
In that mont of hesitation, the not-so-understanding Ah Fu said:
“Miss Hua must have eaten sothing bad, with the damp weather food is more likely to mold and breed bacteria.”
It sounded sowhat plausible.
Gong Yi’s brow still didn’t relax as he looked at Hua Mi amidst the rain, saying with concern:
“Let’s find a doctor to check on you, your body is too weak. At a ti like this, what are you doing running around outside?”
Food poisoning could be minor or serious; if it had been in the past, she might have just suffered from vomiting and diarrhea for a few days, but now, in such conditions and in this world, there could be serious complications.
After large-scale natural disasters, cholera outbreaks are common, and it has been so throughout history.
Hua Mi waved her hand,
“I still have things to do; I just made a deal with Old Man Ke, I have to pick up the goods.”
With that, she tried to get into the car, not wanting to waste a mont.
Seeing this, Ah Fu looked helplessly towards Gong Yi.
At tis like these, making money was the lesser concern; one’s health was paramount.
But Hua Mi’s personality seed agreeable on the surface; however, deep down, she held an attitude of ‘if you are with , you will prosper; if you are against , you will perish.’
Once she had decided to do sothing, no one could stop her, including herself.
That’s why Ah Fu dared not block her.
As she moved forward, her hand just reached for the car door handle when Gong Yi swooped her up from behind, carrying her sideways, and rushed towards the temporary shelter tent.
“Gong Yi, put down!”
Hua Mi was furious, this was the first ti in her life to be carried by a man in such a princess hold, and it was excruciatingly embarrassing.
The rapidly moving Gong Yi ignored her, went straight into the shelter tent, and placed her onto a small stool inside.
Seeing her trying to stand up, Gong Yi pressed his hands on her slender shoulders, not letting her up.
He was very strong, and when Hua Mi tried to move, she couldn’t budge an inch, she looked up in astonishnt at Gong Yi’s dirt-covered handso face,
“You!”
His strength was enormous, definitely surpassing that of an average man.
Gong Yi’s resolute face showed nothing but persistence in his eyes,
“No matter what, find soone to take a look at you first. I’ve still got a lot of stones to turn over, don’t make worry.”
“Is that okay?”
The question was asked, but the tone was incredibly assertive.
Assertive enough to make Hua Mi feel a strong wave of concern hit her.
He cared deeply about her.
Hua Mi slightly raised her eyebrows, looking closely into Gong Yi’s eyes. The call button on his shoulder sounded off, indicating the life detector had found soone alive in the vicinity.
Gong Yi turned and walked away, his entire figure disappearing into the fine rain, then paused, turned back, and as the rain beat upon his steadfast face, he looked at Hua Mi, instructing her,
“A lifeguard will be here soon. Whatever he says, send a ssage to let know.”
Saying so, he clenched his hand into a fist and thumped it against his chest.
It looked as though he wanted to hamr out his heart to show it to Hua Mi.
Sitting on a small stool, Hua Mi couldn’t help but nod, watching Gong Yi disappear into the fine rain and join the scattered nearby lifeguards, heading towards a certain spot.
“Miss Hua.”
Ah Fu hurriedly jogged into the tent, glancing around at the environnt within. It was clear this was a temporary shelter that couldn’t get more temporary, containing so mineral water, ethanol, breathing machines, and various clothing belonging to the lifeguards, amongst other things.
Due to the rain, the ground was muddy, and the crates of mineral water were simply placed on the wet earth, which seed much less adequate compared to the aid centers in the city.
Ah Fu sighed and suggested,
“How about we go back instead, and ask Mr. Ke to get a proper doctor to have a look?”
Hua Mi’s gaze returned from the direction where Gong Yi had vanished. She shook her head,
“There’s no ti for going back and forth. Just having a lifeguard take a quick look will be fine. Don’t I know my own body? I’m okay. You go up front and check out the situation, then send a ssage.”
She had seen the environnt all the way here; this place was now very far from Xiang City, practically at the edge of the dical supply stockpile area. Further ahead lay only ruins, impassable even by off-road vehicles; the only option was to go on foot.
Ah Fu agreed, and although he was uneasy about leaving Hua Mi, manpower was already stretched thin, and there would be no one else to go if he didn’t.
No sooner had Ah Fu left than a lifeguard rushed into the tent. Fastened to the crook of his arm was a white armband with a red cross, and he carried a simple dicine kit, asking,
“Sister Hua, what’s making you feel unwell?”
“It’s not that I feel unwell, it’s just that I’ve been vomiting a lot lately.”
Hua Mi was honest as she watched the young lifeguard open his kit and withdraw a bottle of scopolamine, handing her a tablet.
“This dication is for stopping stomach cramps. It will temporarily suppress the vomiting, but when possible, you should still seek a professional doctor.”
The young man spoke earnestly; he was just filling in temporarily, having read so dical books and been hastily recruited by Gong Yi to join the rescue team as a dic.
Hua Mi looked down at the small pill in her delicate palm, then took out another pill of scopolamine from the young man’s kit, noticing the label that read, “Not for pregnant won or children.”
“Suddenly, I don’t feel nauseous anymore. You see, you don’t have much dicine to begin with; it should be saved for those who need it more.”
Saying this, Hua Mi placed the pill back in the bottle of scopolamine and stood up, then ran out of the shelter.
She hadn’t wandered the ruins for long when she received a photo from Ah Fu,
[Ah Fu: Image.jpg]
[Ah Fu: Miss Hua, take a look. No wonder these dical supplies are stuck in transit one after the other; the vehicles can’t get through at all in this terrain.]
[Ah Fu: Even if they did co through, there’s no road to travel on.]
