The next ti Rio opened his eyes, his heart nearly skipped a beat as he found himself lying just by the edge of a cliff but before he could pull back his eyes caught sight of two human figures running down through the valley which was now devoid of the thousands clattering beast he had seen the previous night.

Quickly Rio cleared the wariness out of his eyes and focused on the scene below, confirming that there were indeed two humans down at the valley and that they were chasing after the two-headed direhog.

"How did it get itself in such a situation"

Without wasting a second, Rio pushed himself to his feet, glad to see that his legs were working just fine.

Quickly he went to pick up his axe and run around and go down the valley, but then a scream that ca from one of the n had him freezing in his tracks and without wasting a second, turning and rushing to the cliff.

"Hey don't kill them" Rio shouted down to the two-headed direhog when he saw that the situation down below had changed, rushing and beginning to climb down the cliff.

Rio's shout got the attention of the two n, but they couldn't mind him as they found themselves having to fend off the beast which they had been chasing just so minutes ago.

The two n wore primitive clothes, fur around their waist, beads around their ankles and wrists while their chest and feet were bare.

They had spears as their weapon and with it threw several jabs at direhog trying to keep it at a distance but unfortunately being too slow for its quick sprints and bites.

As he hastily climbed down, Rio could see the frustration on their face and just as they were frustrated so was he because to his shock the two-headed direhog was moving at speeds that even his eyes found troubleso.

With his inexperience in climbing, it took Rio more than three minutes to get down from the valley.

When Rio finally descended to a safe altitude, he jumped down to the ground and jogging up to the two-headed beast could only narrow his eyes at the two bodies which were the ground covered in dark veins and trembling.

"Poison" Rio muttered looking at the direhog.

Grrrr! Grrrrr! Grrrr!

In just the ti it had taken him to climb down, the little creature which had just been born yesterday had been taken care of by two grown n whom Rio was sure hadn't been living soft lives.

"You should have just waited for to co down, I could have killed one and interrogated the other while you ate."

"Grrr, grrr, grrr"

Though Rio didn't speak direhog, for so reason he could understand what it was saying, kind of like a feeling and it sounded like

"I wanted to kill my own food"

Rio raised an eyebrow at the proud standing direhog watching as its heads swerved left and right boisterously and he could only shake his head.

Then why did you bring them here before killing them

"Grrr grrr, grrr"

Rio didn't fully pick up on what it ant this ti, but after the beast consud the two humans in record-breaking ti and quickly fell asleep at his foot, he understood.

"We don't to be alone while we sleep."

"And now I'm a guard, they didn't even bring anything."

Rio's only reply was a yawn from the two heads the beasts making themselves comfortable as they napped.

While the beasts slept, Rio glanced at the remains of two devoured corpses so distance away, glad that he hadn't felt any attraction to them and then he focused on the belongings they had left behind.

The only valuable things that had been on their person, were their spears and two small green stones they each had in a small pocket in the fur clothes but the two-headed beast had eaten the stones, each head taking one.

"They know they have one body right"

With the stones gone, all Rio had was two stone spears and a fur.

"Modern technology beats you guys."

The death of the two n ant Rio had lost his only lead to tracing human life but surprisingly for him, rather than be mad at the creatures, he joined them in taking a morning nap, his body not fully recovered from the events of last night.

While they slept, Rio had no idea that minutes later, a faint green energy escaped out of the body of the two-headed direhog and flowed into him, this process slow and undetectable.

....

"Did you grow by over two inches in just a single morning nap?" Rio asked looking at the beast that had woken him up, groaning as he felt rejuvenated and even stronger.

With a yelp, the Direhog growled and bit his shirt pulling at him and looking at him intently.

This action Rio understood.

"Where do you want us to go"

Letting go of Rio's shirt the two-headed beast growled in the direction of the human corpses before nodding its head in the direction Rio had seen it and the two humans co from and imdiately Rio understood and was on his feet.

"You know where they ca from"

Grrrrr!

Well good, let's get going "Rio said before then pausing.

The air was clean, the wind was chill and the sun was warm.

"Either sleeping for just a few minutes made feel like I have been sleeping for hours or this is the next day"

Grrrrrr!

A quick inspection of the two corpses and how much they had decayed confird to Rio that today was a new day.

For so seconds Rio was in shock trying to understand how he could have slept for a whole day and night, his eyes narrowed at the fact that no creature had co to gobble up him and the direhogs, but then his eyes settled on his surroundings, observing the calm and quiet valley.

"They probably don't co out every night"
