"Oh...that? I haven’t t her particularly since she was born. I can’t bother myself with sothing of no value. That family grates on my nerves for so reason. I would go as far as saying that I hate them. I share my parents’ feelings about them."

I balked, stepping away from the door. Partly because of the hate I heard in Chyra’s voice, and partly because my mind had told to. But I didn’t consider my mind’s individuality at the mont, rather on Chyra’s hate. Diana is six years old, or perhaps seven. And she didn’t know the girl that was my closest ally?

At least you should know the nas of your enemies. I thought, sinking my fingers into my hair, ruffling them out of anger and mild frustration.

"You know, Nina. I don’t know which family we should be afraid of the most. Chyra’s or Rachel’s?"

Nina. The na of the third person. I listened keenly to get her own voice.

"I think we should fear Rachel’s the more. At least Chyra’s parents don’t have blood on their hands yet."

Gena scoffed. "And how would you know that?"

Chyra laughed. "Careful girls, you are heading into unauthorized territory. So, my cousin had caught the queen’s attention? and why is that?"

"My mom thinks she might be the next queen. Her magic is off the charts." Nina enthused.

I heard then, a blow to the wall, or was it to the table? Table definitely. I was sure that it was Chyra. My thought was confird the next second.

"Careful Chyra. If I didn’t know of the ruling conditions, I would think that you are interested in the throne. I would think that you want to be noticed by the Queen." Gena pointed out.

"And what if I was? What if I want to be noticed by the Queen? Is it bad to crave fa and power? Is that wrong?"

The other two girls chuckled. "Well, kill that thought. Your powers, no matter how good they are, are not even on par with your cousin’s. Even Rachel is afraid. She might not say it, but I know she worries about her position. It is now made worse with the arrival of that girl, Dora. Rachel is afraid she might not be respected when the next queen is called in, unless she herself becos the queen."

Chyra snorted at Nina’s words. "Good for Rachel then. She has always looked down upon us. If I am a tad bit honest, I had been pleased that Dora had poured her that juice. It would get her down the high horse for once. But of course, that doesn’t an we wouldn’t deal with the girl. She might start acting high and mighty, like Zande had. Difference was that Zande had magic. This one doesn’t seem to have it. Yet, we should be careful. We shouldn’t take any chances. I would have loved to play spy on my uncle, but I haven’t been at his place for over six years. So, I doubt he will buy the innocent girl act."

"So, what do we do?" Nina asked.

"Nothing. We just tell Rachel about it. If the madam gives the order, we run it, anything to remain in her graces until she steps down. I don’t think she will be on the high horse for long though. She is approaching eighteen and she is yet to have the white hair." Chyra said.

"You are right. My mother had said the sa. It would explain the Queen trying to colonize your cousin. Do you think your aunt knows about this?"

"No, I don’t think so. If she did, she would have done all she could to bring back her daughter. Zande’s death sure had taught her a lesson, not to trust the Queen. I’m just thinking the little girl must have suspected, and so hadn’t told her mother. A stupid decision if I must say. Well, ti will tell if she will be alive to see the Queen’s decision about her powers."

I inhaled deeply to quell the beating of my heart which was roaring in my ears now. No way was I letting Diana’s training go on. I would tell Laura and Peter once I got back ho. I couldn’t bear to see Diana getting hurt, just because I want my mories to be kept hidden. I would tell Laura and Peter my mories if that was the case. I would tell them tonight. My resolve this ti around was steel.

"So, you won’t be doing anything to your cousin?"

"No, not at all. I am sure that the Queen has better plans for her." Chyra cackled as a hyena as she said this.

"Well then, if you say so. We should be going then. Ti is already ahead of us, and I am very hungry." Nina muttered.

" too. Thinking about it now, it is crazy that no one has co here to collect their bags. Dora especially. Are you sure that Raul had told her the closing ti?" Gena asked.

I could hear the shuffling of clothes. They must be putting off their jackets.

"None of my business. I had put a guard on the door. If anyone had co close enough to knock or close enough to the guard, an alarm would have blared in my head. And well, thank the gods that our kind don’t have crazy hearing abilities like the wolves, and Lycans."

I smirked then, hearing Chyra’s words. That must have been the reason why my mind had pushed to take a step back. It must have sensed the guard. But how? Was it part of the stuff I had taken from Adam? Well, it didn’t matter now. What mattered was that it had helped to garner enough information to hold the Queen captive.

I smiled evilly as I pressed the pause button, and saved the recording.

This is gold. I mused, before returning the phone to my pocket. Then I covered the distance between and the blue painted wooden door and knocked. Silence greeted , but I turned the knob and walked inside.

I t three girls, or rather four, with their backpacks on their shoulders.

My nose twitched. There had been only three voices.
