"Sorry about that, I was just on a roll. Let tell you the full story." Adam whispered, turning to , and I cringed.

His whisper wasn’t good for , and there wasn’t much space on the hay to make enough distance between us. Price to pay for a confession. Should be worth it please.

"As I ntioned before. I bullied Maya. and my brothers. And as I ntioned before, she didn’t have the wolf gene, so she was the butt of jokes to a lot of the people in the pack. It had continued for more than a year without my father knowing, or rather without any report being made boldly to him, until a particular day. She had been bullied in the school’s cafeteria, and her friend, Naomi-you know the only one that you had deed worthy to speak with in our pack-had made the report to the principal and an elder’s daughter who oversaw the running of the school’s activities. They had been tasked to report to my father, knowing that if they didn’t, Naomi would take it to her parents.."

Adam chuckled drily. Most likely rembering the episode that wasn’t at all funny to .

"Naomi was adamant for justice to be gotten for Maya, probably why she feels Maya’s absence the most out of all of us."

I blinked back tears, noting the tis I had been rude to my friend recently. But was there a choice? It was either that, or let them know about my existence.

"Well, when my father heard the news, he had no choice but to take action. So, he had called and my brothers to order first, before stating the declaration that the girl would be transported to the human realm where she would be taken care of, since she didn’t have a wolf gene. She was allowed so visiting days per month."

"Do you think that your father was actually sending her to the human realm? From what I heard of your father, he is quite a vindictive being? How are you sure that he wasn’t sending the girl to her death, or to so slave industry or sothing?" I inquired, rembering the look on Mr. Brekan’s face at that party months ago, even before the stolen necklace incident, and the look on his wife’s face.

It was like the woman had known that sothing had been about to happen to , sothing that was awful.

Adam furrowed his eyebrows. I saw because I turned to look at him.

He shook his head.

"That’s not possible. Maya was the one wronged. He wouldn’t do that. My father is quite an, I admit, but he isn’t evil. And if that had been the plan all along, I would have still found out. I had planned to follow Maya to the city of humans, to help her settle in, with or without my father’s consent. I had also planned to set the days of eting between the both of us. As I ntioned earlier, she was the ray of sunshine to my darkness. I hadn’t shifted then, but my wolf always did jump whenever I saw her. One of the reasons why I had bullied her, was to subdue the feelings that she provoked in ."

My mouth dropped open in shock, but then I chuckled thereafter, however angrily. The dude had bullied because he didn’t understand his feelings, because I made his wolf jump?

But what was that about following to the human community? Adam was really keen in creating a well of confusion in .

"So, what happened then? How did your feelings for her change? How did she get into a cell?"

"At the swimming pool. She had been sent ho after the incident in school, but she had joined Naomi at the latter’s house. They had been swimming, when I and the others had co in, having been sent out of school. Suspended actually..."

Wow. I hadn’t known of that.

"When Maya had stepped out of the pool, donning a skimpy bikini, after been knocked by my brother, and insulted by Timothy, I had lost my train of thoughts. Regular habits wanted to bully her, but I couldn’t do that. I had watched her like a fool till she had gotten inside the house. After so minutes of goofing around, I had followed her inside. She had been eating cookies when I t her in the kitchen. Her mouth’s movents entranced such that I didn’t know when I walked up to her, and started teasing her. Yet I couldn’t bully her."

Adam paused, then bit his lips. His voice low like a whisper the next second, like he was talking to himself.

"No. I ended up kissing her. And when I found out that she was innocent..I don’t know how I felt..happy, proud, or sothing. But even with the kiss being the best I had, I had still thought of sleeping with her, and doing away with her, because I had known my father wouldn’t approve of her. I had been battling with two choices. But at the end of the day, I fell in love with her, after our first sex. That sex was the final straw. I had known that she was my mate, either fated, or to be chosen. I hadn’t cared for Claire. I even marked her, to show her that I wasn’t dishonest about my feelings."

I gulped down saliva, then turned the other side as a tear trickled down my eyes, as my vengeful emotions abated a bit.

Adam had loved .

What happened then? Or was all this a lie? But why lie to a stranger?

"We attended the send off party together. She was so beautiful, so beautiful like an angel.."

Adam’s hoarse voice let know that he was about to cry, or was holding back tears. He had really been in love. My god, what happened then?

"Then what happened? How was the connection broken?" I asked, scratching a sore spot on my hand whilst willing my eyes to stop leaking.

"At the party, she was set up, accused of stealing my mother’s necklace. But I knew that wasn’t possible. Yet, my father had kept her in the holding cell, while we and the elders congregated at the hall. The others were sent ho."

"Who had set her up?" I pushed, wanting to know his answers so badly. I don’t think I have thirsted for anything than I am for this conversation.

"We never found out, but I think it was Claire. She was so adamant that Maya had stolen the necklace."

"You an the Claire that you are still frolicking with? How can you do that?"

I made sure that my voice was bland, devoid of any emotion, although it was draining, maintaining an aloof countenance in the midst of the conversation.

"It’s a long story." Adam said, after sighing tiredly.

"Well, we have ti Adam. Or are you now in a hurry to leave?"
