I spent the entire night imrsed in an intense crash course, determined to tap into the dormant Vampire and Witch powers that lay within . Ava, seemingly having a change of heart overnight, had agreed to teach how to defend myself, but made it clear that she wouldn’t be following on my perilous quest.

As the moon cast its silvery glow over the darkened landscape, Ava guided through a series of intricate exercises and ancient incantations. I was resolute in my determination to learn, to harness the hidden forces that coursed through my veins. But as the hours ticked by, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was getting nowhere.

Despite my best efforts, I struggled to conjure even the slightest spark of magic. My Vampire powers, inherited from my mysterious lineage, remained elusive, refusing to be coaxed out of their hiding place. Frustration mounted within as the night wore on, and I began to wonder if I was truly cut out for this world of magic and monsters.

Just as Celine was about to offer another spell to attempt, she paused, her eyes gazing wistfully into the distance. "You know, when your mother taught these spells when I was a beginner, I didn’t have any magic within to tap into. But sohow, she was able to weave through the incantations with ease."

A hint of longing crept into Celine’s voice. "It pains that I never asked her how she managed that. I took it for granted, assuming it was just a natural part of her incredible power." Celine’s gaze refocused on , a mix of sadness and determination etched on her face.

"If I did, I would have been able to help you now that you need help in that area."

I managed a small, tentative smile, and Ava’s eyes sparkled with intrigue. "What if," she began, her voice trailing off as she fell deep into thought. Her gaze was distant, and I found myself drawn in, eager to hear her theory.

"What if what?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

Ava’s focus snapped back to . "What if it’s because you haven’t fed? I an, I know your mother is incredibly powerful, and no one can break the bonds she’s created. But I’m certain that having given birth, so of those bonds have loosened because they took a part of you."

She paused, her eyes locked on mine. "What if all you need is sothing to trigger your powers?"

I turned to Celine, hoping she might offer so insight, but she wore an equally perplexed expression.

Ava’s hands moved swiftly, grabbing her phone from her pocket. "I know soone who can help with that. He does all kinds of... jobs, and he can bring us blood."

I raised an eyebrow, my tone laced with skepticism. "But you’re vampires, aren’t you supposed to have blood bags or sothing?"

Ava chuckled, a hint of amusent dancing in her eyes. "Do you carry blood bags around or sothing?" Unless she ant guns... I added ntally, my mind wandering to the absurdity of it all.

I shook my head, clarifying. "No. But you’re different."

Ava’s expression turned wry. "You really have to stop reading whatever fucked-up lore you’ve been consuming about us or any other supernaturals. It’s all just breeds of misinformation. Think of it like when you have a high fever and experience so sort of reaction, making you act a bit abnormal. It’s the sa thing. Vampires need blood just like humans do when they’re sick," Ava explained, her tone matter-of-fact.

"The only difference is that we need it more frequently due to our vulnerability to the sun, and to enhance our strength and stamina – just like humans do when they’re recovering from an illness."

I opened my mouth to respond, but words failed . Ava’s straightforward explanation had left speechless.

Seemingly satisfied that I had no further questions, Ava asked, "Is it okay if he cos here? I think he could really be of help to you, and maybe even assist you in strategizing for tomorrow."

Her eyes locked onto mine, awaiting my response.

There was no ti to deliberate; every mont counted. While I was hesitant to let more people into my ho and involve them in my affairs, I desperately needed guidance and assistance with my plans. The thought sent a shiver down my spine – what would have beco of if Ava and Celine hadn’t intervened? If they hadn’t revealed the truth about my father’s killer being an Underworlder, would I have blindly walked into a trap, dood to suffer a futile demise?

As these thoughts swirled in my mind, another disturbing realization dawned on . My father’s loyal subordinates might not have betrayed him of their own free will. It was possible that his killer had manipulated them, using the vampiric mind control on them.

"Call him," I finally responded, my voice firm and resolute.

Ava’s gaze locked onto mine, her eyes searching for any sign of hesitation or weakness. I t her stare, my expression unwavering. "But let make one thing clear: if he jeopardizes my plans or reveals my location to anyone... I will kill him." The words hung in the air, a stark warning that left no room for misinterpretation.

Ava’s eyes seed to bore into my soul, as if she were trying to gauge the depth of my conviction. I could almost see the wheels turning in her mind, wondering what would have happened if she and Celine had betrayed my trust, revealing my location to the enemy. I hoped that she now understood the gravity of such a mistake, and the consequences that would follow.

The silence between us stretched out for what felt like an eternity, until Ava finally broke the spell. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number, speaking to the person on the other end in hushed tones. After a few minutes, she ended the call and turned to .

"He’ll be here in five minutes," she announced, her voice neutral. "He’s not far from this location."

My instincts imdiately went on high alert, my senses heightened as I processed this new information. I felt a surge of tension course through my veins, but I forced myself to relax, reminding myself that I was prepared for any eventuality. I had a arsenal of weapons at my disposal, both indoors and outdoors, and I was more than willing to use them toblow up a mother fucker.
