Alex was not aiming to be a knight or a swordsman; in his opinion, if one had to resort to physical violence to settle conflicts, then that ant they had already failed in terms of strategies and tactics.
If you plan things ahead of ti and make good enough strategies, you can make others fight for your sake without you needing to put your own life at risk for even a single second.
’Hmm... well, when I beco a strong enough Pathwalker, I might try to fight by myself, but it would be better to not fight while I am still weak...’
Alex patted the dust off his clothes as he completed his morning routine of running five laps and went to take a shower, and as he was already late for breakfast, he asked them to bring it to his room and ate it inside.
After getting ready, Alex made his way to the Grand Hall and noticed that the number of people in the church had increased compared to the first ti Alex arrived.
’I guess my increasing reputation brought quite a few devout believers to the church...’
The mont Alex entered the Grand Hall, he was greeted with Jake kneeling on one leg with his sword in its sheath lying on the ground beside him.
The sisters and the mbers of the church were either standing or sitting in the grand hall while Jake was kneeling right in front of the door that led to the grand hall from the inner corridor with a solemn look on his face, and everyone was looking at him with concern on their faces.
They all knew that Jake was going to be punished today, and he might even be humiliated for his defeat, but no one had the courage to take his side, as most of them were now afraid of Alex’s wrath.
Even Ethan and Freya were standing a bit further, as they knew that Jake was a stubborn person and he had already made up his mind to accept the outco of this duel.
All of that happening in the dining hall seed very weird, but Alex wasn’t surprised.
He walked over and stopped only a few ters in front of Jake.
"So, you finally woke up... that’s good; I would have felt sorry for Ethan if you hadn’t woken up soon..."
"You saved from the trouble of consoling a sad little Ethan... So, what have you decided?"
"Will you accept as the Saint of the God of Wisdom, or hehe~"
Alex’s tone seed quite easy-going, but if soone who had spent a lot of ti with him had heard those words, they would have known that he was giving a threat.
If Jake still denied and refused to accept the outco of the duel and refused to accept Alex as the Chosen Saint of the God of Wisdom, Alex would eliminate him for good this ti.
The only reason Jake was still alive was because he was a strong and talented pawn that Alex could put to use in the future.
If a pawn becos faulty and unusable, there’s no need for it anymore, and it’s more efficient to get rid of it so that it doesn’t beco an obstacle in your ’Path.’
"Your Holiness, I accept my defeat."
"I was naïve and immature; only after you enlightened did, I understand how wise you were... I would like to ask for forgiveness and I am ready for whatever punishnt you may have for ..."
"I will accept being your personal knight without any hesitation as per the agreent made before the duel..."
Jake sounded extrely calm and solemn while saying those words, and he took his sword and raised it towards Alex as if he was offering his sword and his skills to Alex.
A wide smile appeared on Alex’s face as he took the sword with one hand and unsheathed it.
"You have made the right choice, little Jake... it’s good that you have attained such good enlightennt..."
"People can always re-correct and wash their past sins as long as they try hard enough..."
Alex placed the sword on Jake’s shoulder before declaring loudly,
"I, Alexander, the chosen saint of the god of wisdom, declare that Jake Schild is hereby forgiven for all the sins he has committed!"
"I, as the saint, bless you with the grace of our benevolent god and command you to devote yourself to him and his service!"
"Your place is not below anyone, Jake Schild. Being my personal knight will only dull your talent and future. I command you to beco a firm believer of the god of wisdom from this day on!"
Alex already knew that ’loyalty’ was not sothing that could be bought or snatched.
’Loyalty,’ ’Love,’ ’Wisdom,’ etc., are so things that you can never buy or snatch from others; you have to earn them, and you have to work hard to achieve them.
Alex was not foolish enough to force Jake to be his loyal knight, as there was no guarantee that Jake would truly be a loyal pawn.
It usually takes a long ti to make soone loyal to you, and Alex was going to do just that.
Instead of forcing Jake to be his knight, he made Jake beco a devout believer of the god of wisdom and commanded him to further improve his faith in the god of wisdom.
Alex himself is a ’saint,’ and a ’saint’ basically represents the will of a god on earth; whatever Alex says will be the sa as what the god of wisdom wants.
Alex’s status and order are unquestionable inside the God of Wisdom Church, and as a firm believer of the God of Wisdom, Jake would have to listen to his commands no matter what.
Over ti, Jake would also beco loyal to Alex, and this way, Alex would hit two birds with the sa stone!
"Everyone, We all are equal in the eyes of our benevolent god; to him, no prince, no knight, and no peasant exist!"
"To him, we are all humans! Follow him faithfully, and you may earn the right to one day be granted the sa wisdom that he has granted !"
With those words said, Alex returned the sword to Jake as he gave him a hand to stand up.
Jake was surprised by Alex’s actions but reluctantly took his hand and stood up before doing a slight bow.
"Thank you, Lord Saint. Father was right; you are truly a great person. I will not fail to follow your command..."
"I will not make the sa mistake I did before again..."
