Gloomy, eerie, somber.
In this pitch-dark small room, there was an atmosphere that suffocated the heart.
And in the pitch-dark small room sat a pitch-dark figure.
Pitch dark was not a taphor, but reality. This person was draped in a black cloak, wearing a hood, and even the exposed skin was wrapped in black cloth; only a pair of black eyes were visible.
"You currently don’t look like a constable," Lu Qifeng said with a deep sigh as he entered the small, dark room, "more like a roach or rat hiding in a sewer."
His white Confucian robe contrasted starkly with the dark environnt, making the pitch-dark person feel extrely uncomfortable.
"Right now, I’m even less than a sewer roach or rat. At least they have the bare minimum of freedom."
In his flat tone was hidden imnse resentful energy. The black-clothed man did not disguise it, and Lu Qifeng could also hear it.
"I know you still resent . However, the news I bring today might lessen your resentful energy sowhat."
Lu Qifeng walked up to the black-clothed man and said, "Did you know? One of the imperial princes of Northern Zhou—Eldest Prince Feng Guanyu was assassinated last night, and the murderer remains at large, unknown."
"Humph, do I even need to think about it? With Feng Guanyu assassinated, Sixth Prince Feng Chaonan benefits the most. Even within Tianjing City, I can hear of this Sixth Prince’s ambitions; he is clearing obstacles to ascend as the Imperial Prince."
Although unsure of what Lu Qifeng was implying, the black-clothed man still coldly responded.
Among the Four Great Divine Capturers, aside from Divine Captor Wu Que, who always stationed at Tianjing Six Gates Headquarters, Blood Hand Divine Capture resembled more an executioner, and Chasing Wind Divine Constable specialized in stealing information. In terms of investigative skills, it was he, ng Wuchang, who excelled.
’Though, these investigative abilities are the most useless anyway.’ ng Wuchang thought bitterly.
"The Northern Zhou Imperial Family thinks the sa, just without evidence. Thus, at today’s Northern Zhou court eting, the matter of Feng Chaonan moving up as Imperial Prince was vetoed by elder Princess Feng Mingxiao. However, even with one missing, Feng Chaonan won’t give up and will have others continue to stir waves," Lu Qifeng said.
His words revealed a firm grasp of the dynamics within the Northern Zhou court. Despite being miles away, Lu Qifeng knew the details of the Divine Capital’s court eting by noon, a testant to the vast reach of the Six Gates’ intelligence network.
"If you have co to discuss the grudges between Northern Zhou princes with , then save it," ng Wuchang bluntly interrupted.
Hearing this, Lu Qifeng was not annoyed; he simply sighed, "After your injury, your temperant has beco less stable than before."
"I didn’t co here to talk about that," Lu Qifeng shook his head, "Although news of Feng Guanyu’s assassination has not yet spread throughout the world, it won’t be long. But the world will never know, before his death, Feng Guanyu secretly left clues about the assassin."
"You an..." ng Wuchang suddenly looked up, staring intently into Lu Qifeng’s eyes.
His instincts told him that this assassin must be the one he hated to the bone.
"Yes, it is exactly who you are thinking of," Lu Qifeng t those eyes filled with vengeful fire, deliberately stating, "Feng Guanyu left behind three characters, ’Gong, Zi, Yu.’"
Lu Qifeng sighed as if relieved, "I witnessed that person growing up. To say I know him very well would be an understatent, yet I know he is a person of great ambition."
"Feng Chaonan must think he is using that person, but I know that it will be Feng Chaonan who ends up being used. With that person’s bold and audacious nature, it is very likely that Feng Chaonan could beco his puppet. After all, he is skilled in brainwashing and changing identities with secret techniques; even if Feng Chaonan were switched with another person, I wouldn’t be surprised."
"If Feng Chaonan gains power and controls the politics of Northern Zhou, you know what the consequences would be, ng Wuchang."
The consequences were crystal clear to ng Wuchang.
Hope for revenge was almost certainly dashed. The opponent was still a person of the Shadow King; if Northern Zhou was controlled and coordinated with the Shadow King, who held great sway in Daqian, it would spell major trouble for the current emperor.
"So," Lu Qifeng continued, "ng Wuchang, I hope you can go to Northern Zhou and kill him."
This statent, though spoken flatly by Lu Qifeng, struck ng Wuchang like a thunderclap: "Kill him?"
The heavy air in ng Wuchang cleared instantly, and unmasked murderous intent wreaked havoc in the small room.
"Indeed, go kill him. Even if you don’t kill him, you must kill Feng Chaonan to cut off his path to controlling Northern Zhou," Lu Qifeng affird.
"However, I must make it clear," Lu Qifeng added, "this mission can only succeed, not fail. If it fails, the one who dies will not be the Impermanence Divine Captor of Six Gates."
These words were quite clear: if ng Wuchang died in failure, the Six Gates would not acknowledge his identity.
Objectively, the statent sounded rather humorous. Although ng Wuchang didn’t take the conventional path when advancing to the True Pill Realm, hence his strength was much lower than a typical True Core Realm Martial Artist, he was still not soone a Divine Origin Realm could compare with.
Moreover, bearing the title Impermanence Divine Captor, known for his unpredictable thods against adversaries, he was also skilled in assassination. To consider failure when a True Pill Realm warrior was to assassinate a Divine Origin Realm was indeed absurd.
But to ng Wuchang, this was no laughing matter, as in his last encounter, he hadn’t even seen the face of his adversary before losing his left hand. If such a painful experience couldn’t make ng Wuchang extrely cautious, he might as well have died in the last explosion at Cloud Peak.
"Even if I die, I’ll drag him down with ."
ng Wuchang clenched his fists suddenly, emitting a sound like tal clashing, "Lian Jin’s vengeance, along with my lost hand, require his atonent."
ng Wuchang stood up, displaying a determination and upright posture he hadn’t shown since Lu Qifeng brought him back severely injured from Northern Zhou.
With his head held high, he strode forward.
ng Wuchang walked briskly out of the room that had been locked for a long ti, not looking back.
Behind him, Lu Qifeng took out a small bottle and said, "This is the Ten Thousand Year Stalactite Condensation that I gave you last ti. You refused it then. This ti, wait until you return triumphant, then use it to restore your appearance."
Previously, ng Wuchang had been badly burned by a massive explosion, which is why he had been wrapped in cloths. Without this Stalactite Condensation to heal, he would need to break through to the Divinity Realm to restore his original appearance.
Hearing this, ng Wuchang paused montarily, then said, "Alright."
