Chapter 825: Chapter 836 In the Tavern

“So, Peyton Derrick has regained his power, and the undead army besieging the Witches’ Forest is commanded by him?” Soveris said with a serious expression, “And that terrifying heavenly teorite was summoned by him using magic?”

“That’s right.” Lancelot nodded, “The lich has likely acquired the power left by Milko, the forr Lord of the Dead, in that ancient temple. We speculate that its strength might have reached the level of a demigod.”

The tavern burst into noisy discussion, and everyone’s expressions were grim. When the undead army attacked the Witches’ Forest, many raven-n turned into birds to watch the battle from a distance. Even those who were not present had already heard about it from their companions. Aside from the teorite it summoned against Lancelot’s group, the lich also demonstrated many other terrifying thods, such as a poisonous mist that instantly withered large areas of trees and a green ray that turned a witch to dust. Furthermore, it commanded an absolutely loyal, unconditionally obedient, and infinitely replenishable undead army. Now, hearing that the lich’s strength had reached the level of a demigod made it difficult for these rebels not to feel despair.

“This is indeed… not a pleasant change.” The brown-haired elf covered his face with both hands and rubbed hard, “From a positive perspective, our enemy has gone from being both the lich and the witch to only the lich, which at least makes the situation a bit simpler…”

“I agree.” Lancelot shrugged, “And it’s not as if we don’t have other good news. I can’t reveal too much right now, but the lich is definitely not invincible, as long as we use the correct thod…”

“Correct thod?” Soveris’s face suddenly changed upon hearing this, “Does it have sothing to do with Princess Fran?”

“If you an using her as so sort of sacrificial offering, you don’t need to worry about that. I can assure you, there’s no such arrangent in the plan.” Lancelot smiled, although his True Yuan was almost depleted, his hearing was unaffected, “However, as you already know, our enemy is extrely powerful, and unexpected situations can occur during combat…”

“…” Soveris was silent for a mont, glanced secretly at a familiar yet strange figure in the corner, and sighed softly, “Of course, we are all prepared to give our lives for this. So, regarding the ‘correct thod,’ is there anything we can do?”

“Of course.” Lancelot nodded, “First, I need to confirm one thing with you. All the ravens in this fortress are actually your people in disguise, correct?”

“Not all of them. Most of the ravens in the fortress are real birds, only those within a thirty feet radius of this room are.” Soveris glanced at the open ceiling, “This is the greatest secret of Raven Castle, making it impossible for enemies to determine the real number of our people… However, all the ravens in this kingdom are our friends. They are very intelligent birds. Of course, so of them were once human but have forgotten their true identity and how to change back. I don’t know the exact number.”

“That’s enough. The most important thing right now is to track the Lich King’s movents. Where is it? What does it plan to do next? What are the deploynts of its undead army? Based on this intelligence, we will formulate the next step…”

Lancelot’s calm tone carried a special kind of influence, gradually dissipating the air of panic, fear, and confusion in the tavern. Everyone listened attentively, unconsciously believing that this muscular yet articulate human knight could indeed lead them to final victory.

“No problem, I will arrange it imdiately.” Soveris nodded, “The mont there is any new information, I will let you know right away… Will you stay here?”

“Yes, Kalalin and Barrend are severely injured, and although the priest’s divine arts are helping, they still need so ti to fully recover.” Lancelot nodded, “We’ll be troubling you for a while.”

“No need to be so polite, just treat Raven Castle as your ho.”

“Thank you very much.” Lancelot nodded in acknowledgnt, “One more thing… The Wolf King’s Den inn in Chadegory Town, you know of it, right?”

“Of course. As I recall, it was the Baroness who incited you to go to the lost temple of the Lord of the Dead. Do you suspect sothing…”

“She is a possible breakthrough point.” Lancelot didn’t directly ntion the bones, “Please keep an eye on that place and inform of any unusual happenings imdiately. But be careful. The Baroness is quite powerful herself, so do not approach recklessly, just monitor from a distance.”

————————————

Following Soveris, Lancelot, little Isha, and Fran descended into the tavern’s cellar, passing through stacked barrels to enter again the small room with the Raven statue. Their fellow companion, the cursed swordmaster Tanya, knelt before the statue symbolizing her ntor, the Raven Queen, or Sect Master, lost in ditation. Hearing the approaching footsteps, she slowly opened her eyes and erged from her ditative state.

“Have you received any ons?” Lancelot asked the half-elf softly.

“Yes.” Tanya nodded affirmatively, “Just broken images. I need more ti to interpret their anings, but I saw a woman’s figure several tis. I think it’s a sign from my ntor that she’s the key to solving our current predicant…”

“A woman?” Lancelot frowned, “Is it the Madam of the Wolf King’s Den?”

“Absolutely not.” The half-elf denied decisively, “My instincts tell it’s related to the clue ntioned during the divination of the Demon’s Domain – a potential powerful ally, a legendary woman whose mind has already gone mad… Do you know anyone like that in this kingdom, Mr. Soveris?”

“Both conditions together? I’m afraid there’s none.” The brown-haired elf shook his head, “If there’s nothing else, I will take my leave. You all can continue talking…”

“Wait.” Lancelot called out to him, “Sorry, there were too many people earlier, and so things were inconvenient to discuss… about the ‘correct thod’ I ntioned.”

“Oh?” The elf’s interest was piqued, “May I ask how you obtained this information?”

“In the temple of the Lord of the Dead, there’s more than just Milko’s residual power.” Lancelot said seriously, “We acquired powerful assistance – Cranvo, the current Lord of the Dead. A projection of him, whom I trust as a friend… has already descended upon that ancient temple. He has the power to utterly defeat Peyton Derrick the lich, but it must be in the vicinity of that ancient temple.
