Point-of-View: Neo Cronje
———————————————————————————
"Well, uh, let’s look on the bright side...at least all the remaining people finally ran away," I remarked wryly, as I took in our surroundings, several Monsters all around us.
This is bad, a lot of them are Common Tier Monsters, but there are a fair number of Interdiary Tier ones too...thankfully, I don’t see any more Pri Tier Monsters, but this is still going to be really rough.
There’s gotta be a few hundred of them at the very least...there’s never been such an imnse outbreak of Monsters in decades, I’ve certainly never seen anything like this in person before...
"Hey, can’t you go get more reinforcents? Taking on this many is kinda...," Frowned Aurora, as the Monsters began to close in on us.
"The reinforcents I called will be here any minute now, but there are only four of them, that will probably not be enough," Added Elise in agreent, before surrounding us with a tall wall of ice.
"Who would I bring, though? All the other Category 0s and many of the best Category 1s are busy with handling the Monster outbreaks elsewhere," I pointed out with a grimace, as I opened several portals and dropped so of the Monsters through to volcanoes.
It hardly even feels like I’m putting a dent in their numbers though, more keep coming through the rifts, what do we do?
"Uh, hey, do you feel that?" Suddenly remarked Aurora, stiffening up.
Hm?
"Yes, I do...there are six-...no, seven...-Auras coming from different directions. And they all feel like they are coming from several kiloters away," Frowned Elise grimly.
Just great, this is the last thing we need right now...
"This is really bad, the Monsters are all running towards the Auras...so many people are gonna die!" Exclaid Aurora in alarm, as all the Monsters around us sped off in various directions.
Oh, no...
"Wait, what happened to the person who was unleashing their Aura from the top of the Eiffel tower, Aurora?" I inquired, getting a bad feeling.
"Right, about that...there were two of them, the one whose Aura was unleashed had a mask on. And the other one, a guy with spiky blonde hair, one blue eye and one green eye, and freckles...he had a portal open," She inford with a grimace.
...huh?
"I’m sorry, what!?" I blurted out in disbelief.
There’s another portal user besides ? Since when?
"That’s not all...I tried to grab them with my Shadow Cat arm, but the masked person unleashed a bright light that dissipated my arm. It might be that Dispel technique you ntioned," She added with a frown.
No way...this is so much worse that I thought. Chaos has soone who can use the Portal technique, and another who can use Dispel? Just who the hell are we dealing with here?
"This is all very concerning and all, but...for now, should we not go after the Monsters?" Inquired Elise with a raised eyebrow.
"Crap, you’re right...sorry, all these unforseen circumstances have got a bit overwheld, and distracted from the more imdiate concern. We don’t have a choice, split up and take down as many of the Monsters as you can! I do want to investigate the Auras you two ntioned, but we simply don’t have the luxury of doing so. Elise, contact your reinforcents and tell them to split up as well. Limit collateral damage as much as possible, but not if that ans that you’ll have to hold back too much...unleash your own Auras to draw the Monsters towards you if you have to, do whatever it takes!" I instructed them, before they nodded in response and we swiftly split up and raced away in different directions.
I began charging up a massive, intense fireball in my left hand as I shot forward at top speed, chasing after a huge chunk of the Monsters...in their frenzy, they’re too fast for to catch up with on foot, but that works out in my favor.
I winced as my right forearm throbbed with pain...there was a hole through it from when the Viciousaur used my portals against , I could barely move the fingers on my right hand, and I’d stopped the bleeding by burning the hole, which was extrely, excruciatingly painful in its own right. I’ll just have to power through the pain, I suppose.
As I chased after the Monsters while compressing and charging my fireball, I could hear powerful blasts echoing out in the distance...Aurora must be firing off Negative Blasts. It beca clear to while we fought the Viciousaur, that she was holding back imnsely without even realizing it.
I’ve seen her fight seriously, and it was obvious that she was restraining herself, not only because of the civilians that were around, but also because of and Elise.
There were monts where she’d had openings to attack it, but we were in the way...the Negative Blast she used was a fair bit smaller than her maximum size too. She didn’t extend her Shadow Cat ability as much as she can either, because we were in the way.
That girl is incredibly strong, but even after everything she’s been through, she’s still far too kind for her own good. We’ve never fought or even trained alongside each other, so of course she’d have little idea as to how I fight.
The main reason why I split us up...was to stop holding her back, her incredible senses and instincts combined with her kind nature resulted in her subconsciously pulling her punches to keep us from getting caught in the crossfire.
Yeah, well, I refuse to be a burden on anyone, and besides...having people around forces to hold back on going all out with my portals too, to avoid accidentally dropping an ally into one or sothing.
Alright, I’ve charged up this fireball enough, it’s compressed at my maximum output of 96 Aura, which was also a little under a quarter of the total Aura I had remaining right now.
I dropped into a portal and re-erged right above the horde of Monsters, before blasting my fireball straight down at them. As it rapidly roared and blazed down towards them, it then massively expanded as I stopped compressing it, bursting out into a massive, swirling sphere of flas.
And then, it exploded outwards in a fiery blaze, before I opened several portals to extend the range and spread the blaze even further out, scorching dozens of the Monsters to ash, as I portaled myself out of the reach of the inferno.
How many did I take out with that? Probably no more than sixty or seventy, at most...that’s my most widely destructive attack, and it barely put a dent in their overall numbers. And they’re still ignoring , even after that...so Mirror Dinsion Monsters do display certain degrees of intelligence, but all of them, without exception, enter absolute frenzies when they sense Aura.
Even the Viciousaur, which seed especially intelligent and had us on the ropes thanks to our not-so-efficient teamwork, let us off the hook when it sensed the Aura coming from the Eiffel tower.
I wonder if the Auras that Aurora and Elise ntioned are still unleashed or-...never mind, the fact that they’re still ignoring and continuing on in the sa direction ans that it probably is the case.
Should I go after whoever’s unleashing their Auras after all? No, as tempting as it is, eliminating these Monsters takes priority...screams were starting to ring out as the Monsters reached spots where people were standing around, stomping past them and crushing them underfoot. This is way beyond the worst case scenario, things couldn’t have turned out any worse...

"Isn’t it beautiful? We’re witnessing the first step to our goal, a world where ta-Humans live freely...and I have you to thank, Neo. Had they decided to stay hidden, ignore the Monsters and go after the unleashed Auras instead, then they wouldn’t have been recorded by so many people," I remarked with a smirk, as I scrolled through social dia, "As it stands now, the world will no longer be able to logically deny the existence of ta-Humans. Not with so much footage uploaded from all over the world at the sa ti."
"Then, this was all according to plan?" Asked Glenn, as we peered down from above the clouds using his portals, watching as Neo scorched several dozen Monsters to ash.
"Huh? No, of course not! There’s no way I could have predicted exactly how things would play out, I only set things up in a way that’d trigger absolute mayhem. And now, I sit back and enjoy the show," I responded with a grin...well, not that he can see it, thanks to my mask.
Hm? He seems distracted, staring off in a different direction...
"W-woah...that’s insane...," He muttered, his eyes wide.
Huh, I wonder what he’s looking at-...ah, it’s Aurora. Yeah, I did think she wasn’t fighting as intensely as she could earlier, but like he said, woah...she was little more than a speck from out vantage point, but even from this distance, it was clear to see that she was absolutely mowing down the Monsters she’d gone after at an alarming rate...
"Seriously, her level of power is just unfair. Further down the line, she’s probably going to be one of our biggest obstacles. I’m fairly confident that I can take any of the Category 0s and other Outliers down by myself, but...," I remarked with a wry smile, as I added, "...I sure as hell don’t want to take her on in a direct fight. She’s way too scary..."
