Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

———————————————————————————

This place looks like a savanna...seems to be a nature reserve with a trail for tourists. We’d been following the black haired woman for nearly half an hour so far, and I could tell that she was getting frustrated, her body language was very obvious.

Using my portals to jump across the sky like this is pretty tiring though, so I’m starting to get kinda frustrated myself. Is the Outlier really out here sowhere? Well, at least I get to feel so boobs on my back, so there’s a silver lining...

Suddenly, she abruptly halted, I quickly reacted by using a portal to teleport to the ground, behind a couple of trees and bushes. Why did she-...I then froze in shock as Liling grabbed my arm and used a Light Skill technique called Synchronicity, which lets you share your senses with soone by touching them.

Oh, and that includes Aura sensing too...and the mont she activated the technique, a chill ran down my spine as I felt it...

"Wh-what th-the...?" Stuttered Liling in disbelief, her body starting to tremble as her grip on my arm tightened slightly.

This Aura...it’s simply unreal, unbelievably massive and powerful. It’s way more imnse than any of the three Outliers at Harmony. I may be unable to sense Auras from a distance, but even I can tell that this Aura is on a whole other level. And without a doubt, it’s fully under control...how is that possible?

No, that doesn’t matter right now...we need to figure out how to capture this Outlier. I’d rather not have to use force, because if this Outlier has the skills to match this imnse Aura, I doubt I can defeat them.

"Okay, no ti to stand around, let’s head to the source of this Aura. We’ll let the Eden woman reach them first, and we’ll watch from a distance. That might be a bit risky, but I’d rather not rush into this blindly," I frowned, as the young woman flew off and zipped through the sky towards the Aura.

"That’s fine by . I doubt that the Eden girl can defeat whoever this Aura belongs to, though that applies to us too," Liling responded with a rueful smile.

Damn it, what the hell is this...I didn’t sign up for this, an Outlier’s Aura isn’t supposed to be this massive, let alone fully under control...just what exactly is going on here? I’m starting to get a bad feeling about this...

...

"Shouldn’t we get a bit closer? It feels like we’re approximately over half a kiloter away from where the Aura is coming from," Remarked Liling, as we stayed hidden behind a large tree.

"No, we’ll wait till we hear sothing, and then we’ll use a portal to peek in...once we know what this Outlier is capable of, I probably stand the best chance of capturing them. After all, as a Space Skill user, Aura pressure doesn’t affect nearly as much as it does to others," I pointed out.

Yeah, I’ve ntioned before that Space Skill users can’t sense Auras across long distances, but there’s a small silver lining in that disadvantage...Aura pressure has a substantially weaker effect on us than on ta-Humans that don’t have a Space Skill.

"Oh, then should I deactivate my Synchronicity?" She asked .

"Yeah, do it...honestly, this pressure is way too intense, especially since I’m not used to feeling Aura pressure," I responded wryly.

"I don’t think that has anything to do with it, this Aura is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before...I’d say it’s easily more than three tis greater than a Category 0s Aura capacity," Ca the reply.

"If you’re right about that, then there’s no doubt that this Aura is far more imnse than any of the previous Outliers. On another note, we’re several kiloters off the tourist trail, just what kind of a person is this Outlier?" I frowned, right as the area up ahead got lit up by intense flas.

"Looks like it’s starting...," Mumbled Liling with bated breath, before adding, "The Eden woman has fully unleashed her Aura too, probably to keep the Outlier’s Aura from crushing her..."

"Yeah? Let’s take a look," I suggested, as I opened a portal in the sky, high above where the Outlier and Eden ta-Human were clashing, "Make sure not to put your head through the portal, just look through it, like a window."

"Okay, got it...," She replied, trailing off as we got a look at the fight that was taking place just a few hundred ters ahead, from a top-down view.

Woah...

"What is that...? A Dark Skill technique? I’ve never seen anything like it...," I muttered in surprise.

The Eden woman is quick on her feet and seems to know what she’s doing, but...this Outlier is no pushover. She appears to be a young woman in her early to mid twenties. Her hair looks kinda wild and frizzy, and it looks like she’s wrapped dried zebra skin around herself for clothing...wait, does that an...

"Has that woman been living out here alone?" Mused Liling, voicing my thoughts.

"Yeah, that seems to be the-...hold on, is she trying to kill the Outlier!?" I whispered loudly in alarm, as the Eden woman charged up a large Negative Blast.

"She must have given up on trying to capture her alive, and instead decided to kill her to prevent her from falling into our hands," Realized Liling, her eyes widening.

Damn it, should I portal the blast away? No, I’m not gonna make it in ti-...huh? N-no way...

"Did she just...block and nullify a Negative Blast?" I remarked in shock.

"But it’s supposed to arguably be one of the most destructive attacks that a ta-Human can conjure, and given how it works, it shouldn’t be possible to just-...h-hey, look...," Liling suddenly trailed off and stuttered as she tugged on my sleeve.

"No way, that shouldn’t be possible...did she just copy that after only seeing it once? And what’s more, uh...holy shit, that’s the biggest Negative Blast I’ve ever seen," I replied in disbelief, before adding grimly, "The Eden woman is as good as dead."

"Wait, her hands...that technique is...," Remarked Liling, as the black haired woman pressed her hands together with her arms extended out straight, purplish black energy forming between her palms as the massive Negative Blast barreled towards her rapidly, too fast and too wide for her to fully evade.

Right before it could hit her, she fired out the charged up energy in the form of a rapid, powerful vertical slash, striking the middle of the huge blast.

The large projectile slowed down at the slash struck it, before it began to split in half...but the slash dissipated before it could fully cut through the massive sphere of energy, most of it narrowly missing the Eden woman as it went past her on either side, but a significant portion of it continued on towards her, as she discharged more dark energy in alarm, in order to try and blunt the remainder of the attack as much as possible.

A large amount of the montum of the blast had been nullified by the slash, so while she didn’t sustain all that much physical damage, she still took on damage from the other effect of the Negative Blast.

It’s a highly destructive and extrely unpleasant technique, not only can it inflict imnse physical damage with sheer montum, but its most dangerous aspect is the other effect that it inflicts on those struck by it...called Blight.

The Dark Skill: Blight, is a technique that can be either inflicted using direct contact or using a mid-range blast, and when it strikes soone, it inflicts a poison-like effect on the area of contact, and degrades the cells and organs underneath. The skin around the inflicted area turns purple, before slowly spreading.

If the victim’s entire body turns purple, they’ll die, suffering slowly and painfully as the effect spreads. But on its own, a Blight blast is kinda slow and doesn’t cause any physical damage, it’s pretty easy to dodge.

The Negative Blast is like a suprely more advanced form of Blight, it can cause both imnse physical damage and the degrading effect of Blight. It can generate more than thrice the speed and montum of a simple Blight blast, and is much more difficult to evade.

The Negative Slash, which was what the black haired woman used to split that massive Negative Blast, is just a small Negative Blast that’s highly compressed to maximize its montum and physically penetrative power.

Anyway, the Eden woman had managed to negate sustaining any real physical damage, which was quite comndable and impressive, but she’d taken on a significant amount of Blight damage, several purple patches visible on her arms.

The only way to nullify the effects of Blight and heal the internal damage it causes is by having a Light Skill user cast the techniques Negate and either Healing or Regeneration on the victim, otherwise they’ll inevitably die.

And looking at the amount she’s sustained, it’ll fully spread within six or seven hours...since she’s a Dark Skill user too, she’ll have a degree of resistance that’ll slow down the spread of the Blight. But she’s probably in a lot of pain, which is only going to get more and more intense the longer it’s left untreated.

Suddenly, she sprang back and blasted out a fireball at the ground to give herself so smoke cover, before imdiately flying away as fast as she could. Huh, looks like she gave up. Not that I bla her...she doesn’t stand a chance against this Outlier.

"Okay, new plan...let’s get closer and wait till the Outlier calms down a bit, and then try to approach her with the intention of peaceful negotiation. If it looks like that’s not going to be possible, then we retreat imdiately. Stay close so that we can portal away if it cos to that," I instructed Liling quietly, before opening a portal to a spot about thirty ters away from the Outlier, behind a row of tall, thick bushes.

"Understood, and I agree, I’d definitely prefer not to have to fight this girl, she’s way too powerful," She responded with a wry smile, as we walked through the portal and crouched behind the bushes.

We peered through the leaves to get a look at the Outlier, who was facing the direction in which the Eden woman had flew off in, her back to us. Suddenly, she stiffened, before forming another large Negative Blast...

Huh? Oh, shit, don’t tell -...she then spun around and fired the blast...right towards us. Crap, this is bad!

I quickly ford a portal in front of us, before opening a connected portal pointing upwards in the sky, redirecting the blast up into the clouds. I then froze as a chill ran down my spine...as I realized that she was right behind ...
