It was simple to verify Su Li’s speculation.

All they needed to do was interrogate the soldiers who previously had a low presence and were even directly knocked out by Egbert’s attack.

Regardless of whether Su Li was hypocritical or not, he did not choose to participate in this interrogation. He only needed the final result to confirm his speculation.

And that was exactly what happened.

Egbert brought a more detailed plan that originally should not have been discovered by them, belonging to the royal family of Amikbi.

However, it would be more accurate to say that those soldiers did not even know the aning behind their own actions.

Egbert’s upbringing did not equip him with any interrogation skills, but Euphia and Lan Zhe were different. The forr had been locking horns with the Lion’s Club leader for who knows how long, already having experience. As for the latter, he was simply gifted at tornting people.

The two of them working together extracted from the soldiers the detailed instructions they had been given – the specific locations of the nobles’ residences within the city, the daily movent routes of the powerful figures in the city, and even the areas where ordinary people who had gradually replaced the nobles as employers resided.

The fact that these things, which were not even instructed by Willard, still needed the soldiers to investigate, already made it clear to everyone that this so-called heir was essentially nothing more than a cannon fodder pushed out.

Perhaps the royal family of Amikbi had this idea all along. After all, Su Li, who was the sa age as the 12-year-old Willard, was the offspring of the Holy Maiden. The king of Amikbi did not have the courage to let his child, who was clearly much older than Willard, be born from his union with others.

This in turn ant that the current age of the king of Amikbi was certainly not old.

While it was true that unlike beasts, most races in this world had long lifespans, the average lifespan of humans here was still very close to that of modern society.

A father in his early teens, in a society where early marriage and early childbearing were common, combined with the king’s age not being too advanced, made it unlikely that the king would still have the virility to give Willard a younger sibling.

From multiple perspectives, it was clear that Willard was being pushed out as a precious, single-use, and long-prepared cannon fodder. This was sufficient to see that what the royal family and the Church were plotting must be no small matter.

The question was, what position was Willard placed in this sche? And what exactly did his banishnt represent?

Su Li rarely thought about these complex matters on his own. He was afraid of the impending war.

Fear of death occupied only a small part of his fear; more of it was actually the things that war represented.

The conflict between divine rights and human rights would likely engulf the entire world, with Sadina City perhaps being an early casualty.

Just the thought of it made him realize that this was bound to be a large-scale war that would shock the world. And once it started, the destructive power would be no different from the use of nuclear/conventional weapons in modern society, with powerful elentalists capable of single-handedly defending a city.

“This is definitely not the kind of daily life I want,” Su Li said, covering his forehead and slumping on the small building.

After the previous day’s events, many follow-up actions had been carried out throughout the night. When Euphia, with the dawn’s colors on her face, brought the interrogation results, Egbert had just gone to the Asa Academy to request leave for Su Li and Cyril.

At this mont, the report that had been reviewed was casually placed on the table, and the young man who had been constantly turning its corners just a mont ago was now slumped on the sofa, with a look of utter despair.

“Plots, crises, disasters, changes – there’s just too much of these things in this world, isn’t there?” Su Li comnted flatly.

After all, it had not even been a year since he had crossed over to this world!

Sitting across from him, Euphia had her arms crossed, her two elbows resting on the tea table in a posture that would allow her, if displeased, to avoid her fiery nature from making her too agitated and directly overturning the table.

In response to Su Li’s sarcasm, the woman who was destined to be the next ruler of this city coolly evaluated, “Perhaps this is just life.”

Su Li twitched his mouth, “Wasn’t it who used to say those kinds of philosophical lines?”

For a philosophical oddball like him, the unfriendliness of this world had simply skyrocketed to a level he couldn’t even begin to fathom.

Who knew how much of a living hell it was for a philosophical oddball who could no longer even spout philosophical lines.

Euphia said, “But rcenary City is just like this, and the life of a rcenary is also like this, so I can’t imagine what a world completely devoid of plots, crises, disasters, and changes would be like.”

Euphia was quite accepting of plots.

But she was only referring to the concept of plots.

Because Euphia herself would also use plots, so she was not particularly annoyed when others used plots against her.

What bothered her now was that the plot targeted the entire Sadina City.

It was no different from soone overturning another’s dining table while they were quietly eating.

As for Su Li, the core figure being plotted against – who was probably just a shallow label to the enemies, and whose actual existence they couldn’t even confirm – how much did he occupy in Euphia’s anger to destroy sothing…

Only she knew.

Su Li said, “We’ve been living without those things for the past while.”

Euphia replied, “But I, as well as the others in Jisuo Town, have suffered attacks from a Level 9 monster beast.”

The raven perched on the painting, seemingly always having a penchant for awkwardness, opened its beak to caw, but quickly swallowed the sound back, feigning deafness to prevent revealing its true identity in front of the new arrivals.

The conversation continued, but Su Li changed his approach.

“Changes in the na of protection are not necessarily bad things.”

“You’re right, but let’s not talk about that anymore,” Euphia knew what Su Li ant.

Because he had never hidden his lifestyle.

That kind of ordinary life, slightly happy yet occasionally disgruntled due to the influence of those around him, without causing any significant deviations in his life path – just seeing it was enough to make most of the people living in the midst of strife feel the sa happiness by projecting themselves into it.

Su Li had given everyone who saw him the concept that “you can choose how to live.”

Euphia continued, “But now that the situation has been discovered in advance, the handling of this heir Willard cannot be simply left to that little friend of yours.”

When Su Li had speculated earlier, he had not gone into much detail, unlike when he later returned to the small building and reiterated all his speculations. Back then, he had still considered Willard’s feelings.

To be used as a tool by one’s own mother…

For those who are extrely concerned about their familial ties, they might simply say in a very simplistic way: it’s because I have value that she wants to use .

On the other hand, for a person who cares about their family ties but also has self-esteem and self, this kind of utilization becos too complex.

Children should not have to think about so much.

At the ti, when Su Li, who always rembered that he was a great wizard, had not yet co up with the “children should not have to think about so much” kind of arrogant idea, he had already acted in a way that was not hidden, but also not intentionally explained.

Now, looking back, he felt that his actions had progressed much faster than his mind.

But of course, one should think things through before acting.

Su Li sighed. “You’re right, but before that, we need to tell Willard and Qi about the current situation together.”

Euphia didn’t understand. “I can understand telling Qi, since he’s the one being utilized. But that heir, I don’t get it.”

For this query, Su Li said seriously, “I can only be considered a morally ordinary person, which ans that when I have high standards for myself, I occasionally do so unscrupulous things to others.”

“What do you an?”

“Willard had a group of soldiers surround and put a sword to my neck.”

Su Li made a throat-cutting gesture.

Su Li was completely unashad to label himself as one for ‘an eye for an eye’.

“To quote a famous line – at that ti, I was only 0.01 centiters away from death.”

“In this situation, letting Willard know how pitiful his own existence is can’t possibly be worse than him despising and envying Qi and trying to harm him.”

Euphia directly laughed out loud at this.

She was a very magnanimous woman, and her laughter was no exception. As her laughter echoed through the interior space of the small building, her voice sounded again, “Just now, I really thought you had developed a sense of pity for that great heir of the kingdom.”

Euphia’s tone did not hide her sarcasm.

When she was twelve or thirteen, she was already able to fight face-to-face with high-level monsters, and had also taken over part of her father’s work.

Willard?

Both his ignorant arrogance and his pea-sized brain were simply laughable.

“Don’t,” Su Li frantically waved his hands, “Wanting to be a good person is not the sa as wanting to be a saint.”

The forr was an ordinary person with the adjective ‘good’ added, while the latter was soone aiming to beco a god.

Su Li would have to be crazy to put himself through that kind of suffering.

The topic paused.

Euphia ordered the subordinates standing outside the small building to bring Willard over.

By the ti the person was brought out of the prison, Egbert had just finished the leave request, but Qi’s figure was also following him.

The latter took the initiative to explain the reason for his coming, “I ca with Sir Egbert of my own accord. Since Willard is here because of , I also need to understand the various plots behind .”

“In your capacity as the forr heir of Amikbi and the current king’s son?” Su Li grasped the aning behind Qi’s words, his rhetorical question more of a statent than a question.

This opening statent confird that Qi would be present in the subsequent scenario not only as Su Li’s friend, but also in his identity as the forr heir of Amikbi.

Sure enough, Su Li saw Qi nod.

Then, the ruthless plots and the impending disasters they would bring were gradually unfolded by the young man’s voice.

The first to be unable to hold back was Willard.

He lay on the ground, still arrogantly shouting, “Groundlessly suspecting the royal family (王族), do you know what you’re doing? If I can make it back alive, I’ll have you all sent to the Church’s Divine Judgnt Hall!”

Just a mont ago, Su Li was still thinking, “I’ve always been calling them the royal family(皇帝), is the term ‘king’ used more in this other world?” when his thoughts imdiately jumped to, “What is the Divine Judgnt Hall?”

(TL: 王族 (wáng zú):

Literal aning: “Royal family.”

Scope: Refers to the family of a king (王, wáng) or other monarchs who do not bear the title of “emperor.”

皇族 (huáng zú):

Literal aning: “Imperial family.”

Scope: Refers to the family of an emperor (皇帝, huáng dì).

In short, 皇族 refers to the ruling family of an empire, while 王族 refers to the royal family of a kingdom or lesser monarch.)

Egbert quietly explained, “It is the largest judgnt venue established under the guidance of the Ten Patriarchs and the Pope. The accused will be enurated with countless cris, with detailed descriptions of the punishnts they must endure, and ultimately, after the death sentence is confird, the accused is usually executed by the Pope himself under the statue of the God of Light, to prove that the God accepts the souls of both the wicked and the righteous.”

Su Li: “At a ti like this, I’ll say this on behalf of the God of Light: That’s fucking insane…”

“I don’t know if that’s appropriate or not.”

Everyone: …

Their thoughts had instantly turned to:

“Lord Su Li must really find the existence of the Church troubleso.”

As well as, “The child is cursing for the first ti, he seems to be quite upset.”

And even Cyril’s thought: “Su Li really doesn’t have a heart of faith in the gods.”

Oblivious to the fact that his single sentence had triggered so many internal reactions, Su Li stared at the still confined Willard. Three seconds later, as he witnessed the other’s forehead begin to bead with cold sweat, a smile that was almost dazzling spread across Su Li’s otherwise expressionless face.

“Don’t you believe that you’re just a tool?” Su Li spoke these words with a voice as gentle as a lover’s whisper.

But the next mont, it was like a thunderclap in a clear sky, cruelly declaring, “Those who don’t recognize themselves will perish the fastest in a world filled with death and crisis.”

At that mont, the beads of cold sweat on Willard’s forehead dripped to the ground.
