Everyone listened to Sylas' explanation and felt that his plan was quite good. Although there were risks in it, no plan could be without risk. In case sothing goes wrong and Sylas falls into the water, his chance of survival will be slim. The river was not as peaceful as it seed on the surface. There were many mutated aquatic creatures inside it, and who knew how strong they were.
Major Kyle nodded and said to Sylas, "You can rest assured, but you should be careful."
A wave of fire, spatial blades, condensed water attacks, earth attacks, and icy blades fought against the vines that were surrounding them.
With the joint efforts of the group, the vines attacking them decreased, but new vines continued to surge out from beneath the bridge.
Catching a mont to breathe, Sylas shouted, "Now!"
Hearing Sylas' signal, everyone imdiately got into action.
A green-colored vine shot out from Serena's hand. It was as thick as an adult man's arm. It wrapped around Sylas' waist. Another vine shot out, wrapping around Sylas' shoulders.
Seeing two strong vines wrapped around him, Sylas imdiately jumped up and landed on the railing. Then he briefly looked back and said, "I am going down."
Then, without waiting for others to reply, he jumped down from the railing.
Dylan imdiately arrived next to Serena and helped her hold on to the vine that was connected to Sylas.
Evin and two water ability users imdiately arrived at the railing and looked down at Sylas. They were ready to cover for Sylas.
A vine shot out toward Sylas as soon as he jumped down.
Evin imdiately sent out ice blades and severed it.
The others were busy dealing with vines on the bridge. Major Kyle stood next to Serena and Dylan and protected them from the vine attacks.
One of Sylas' hands gripped Serena's vine as he ca to a halt beneath the bridge. Several vines imdiately attacked him, but he waved his other hand, and spatial blades rushed out, cutting down the vines. Evin also helped deal with the vines from the bridge.
Sylas then carefully looked beneath the bridge. Beneath the bridge, there was a crack stretching about five to six ters. From that crack, a green plant had sprouted. That plant had mutated and beco a mutated plant. The stem of the mutated plant writhed and shook as it sensed the danger.
Spotting the main body of the mutated plant, Sylas imdiately sent out a compressed spatial blade aid at the mutated plant.
The mutated plant sensed danger and imdiately retracted itself inside the cracks of the concrete.
Sylas imdiately narrowed his eyes.
'What the hell!' The mutated plant was smart like a little animal. It even knew how to hide.
The compressed spatial blade hit the surface of the concrete exactly where the mutated plant was. The blade grazed past that place and disappeared into the air.
Sylas frowned. Good thing he didn't aim directly at the bridge pointing upward, or else the compressed spatial blade attack would have damaged the bridge.
As soon as the compressed spatial blade grazed past the crack, nurous vines ca out from the cracks and shot straight at Sylas.
At the sa ti, a thick vine accompanied the smaller vines attacking Sylas.
Since he was hanging from Serena's vine, his movents were restrained and he couldn't move freely. So he imdiately waved his hand, sending out spatial blades, and at the sa ti, he raised a space barrier.
Several vines t their end at Sylas's spatial blades, and so slamd into Sylas' space barrier. The thick vine also slamd into Sylas, sending him backward. He swung violently in the air. Sylas gripped the vine tightly in his hand and tried to stabilize.
At the sa ti, ice blades and condensed water blades rained down from the bridge and helped Sylas deal with the vines. It was Evin and the two water ability users.
The thick vine, however, slamd into Sylas again. Sylas' space barrier trembled as he was sent back yet again. He swung violently midair.
Above him on the bridge, Dylan tightly gripped the two vines attached to Sylas. His muscles bulged as he held onto the vines with Serena. Every ti the thick vine slamd into Sylas' barrier, sending him flying backward, Dylan and Serena also bore the impact through the vines attached to Sylas. If they let go of the vine, Sylas would fall into the river.
If they didn't have Dylan, who had a strength-type ability, Sylas would have already fallen into the water due to the strength of the vine.
'Sending out a thick and stronger vine to attack and hiding its main body... ha... quite smart,' Sylas chuckled as he swung midair. Space energy gathered as he condensed another compressed spatial blade and sent it out, aid at the thick vine.
The thick vine twisted its body and recoiled back, avoiding the compressed spatial blade.
The compressed spatial blade sliced through the air where the thick vine had been a mont ago and disappeared into the distance.
"Tsk." Sylas clicked his tongue as he steadied himself midair. The mutated plant beneath the bridge was far more cunning than the previous two. It did not recklessly expose its main body. Instead, it used the cracks in the concrete as shelter, sending out waves of vines to wear him down.
Above, the bridge trembled slightly as more vines erupted from the crack. So went above the bridge and so attacked Sylas.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Three vines shot toward Sylas at once. Two thin ones aid at his neck and legs, while another thick vine lashed toward his waist, trying to snap the vine Serena had wrapped around him.
Sylas' eyes flashed coldly and he sneered, "Quite smart."
Sylas waved his hand, and spatial blades burst outward from his side like a spinning halo.
Slash! Slash!
The two thin vines were shredded instantly by the spatial blades, and the fragnts fell into the river below. But the thicker vine twisted abruptly midair and narrowly avoided being severed. It slamd heavily into Sylas' space barrier instead.
Bang!
The force pushed him backward violently.
"Hold tight!" Dylan roared from above. The veins on his forehead bulged as he tightened his grip on the vine.
Serena gritted her teeth, and a faint green glow ca from both hands as she reinforced the two vines wrapped around Sylas. The vines thickened slightly, strengthening under her control.
Below the bridge, Sylas swung in a wide arc. Wind howled past his ears.
The thick vine retreated slightly and then struck again, this ti aiming directly at the vines that were holding him.
Too fast!
Sylas narrowed his eyes and released his hand that was gripping the vine.
He thrust his freed hand forward.
A compressed spatial blade condensed instantly, smaller than before but sharper.
Shua!
The blade flashed and sliced through the thick vine's midsection.
Crack!
This ti, it didn't rely graze it.
The thick vine was severed cleanly.
The upper half recoiled wildly, thrashing against the underside of the bridge before falling downward toward the river.
But before Sylas could relax...
Boom!
From the crack in the concrete, two even thicker vines burst out simultaneously.
They were darker green, with bark-like ridges spiraling around them. One aid straight at Sylas' chest, the other at the vines binding him.
"Damn!" Dylan cursed above.
Sylas inhaled sharply.
He couldn't dodge freely. If he allowed the attack to land, Serena's vine might snap.
Space energy surged violently around him.
A spherical space barrier expanded outward, thicker than before.
Slam! Slam!
Both thick vines collided against the barrier.
The impact reverberated up through Serena's vines into Dylan and Serena's arms.
Serena gasped, her knees bending slightly from the force.
The barrier trembled violently. Fine ripples spread across its surface.
Sylas' face paled.
Maintaining a stable space barrier while suspended midair consud far more energy than usual. He had no foothold to anchor his power.
Above, Evin shouted, "Left side!"
Ice blades streaked downward.
Shua! Shua! Shua!
Because Evin's ice ability was still at a lower level, his ice blades could not cut through the thick vines. They could only cut through the smaller vines.
Although the ice blades could not cut through the thick vines, they could freeze them to so extent. So when the ice blades touched one of the thick vines, it was partially frozen. Its movent slowed for half a second.
That half-second was enough.
Sylas retracted the barrier slightly on one side and unleashed a cluster of spatial blades.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The spatial blades attacked the vine, and the partially frozen vine shattered into chunks.
The remaining thick vine recoiled again, retreating into the crack.
When Sylas saw the vine retreating back into the crack, he narrowed his eyes, breathing heavily.
Crack! Crack!
Then Sylas heard a cracking sound and saw the crack expand. Pieces of cent fell into the river below.
'The bridge! Not good...' Sylas imdiately thought, his heart pounding.
