??Chapter 6: Chapter 5 Bliss

Chapter 6: Chapter 5 Bliss

Zhou Yuan opened his eyes once more and found himself standing on a deserted street.

Bathed in the ghastly light of the streetlamps, he made out the surrounding environnt.

The night was tranquil, and the entire street was empty, with a few cars parked on either side. The license plates were in the style of the Arica Continent, and all the text on the storefronts and billboards was in English.

“Is this a small town in Arica…?”

Zhou Yuan marveled at the wonder of it all. Just a second ago, he was in the East Continent, and the next, he had teleported to Arica. Incredible.

“The next step is to find the targets and then take them out.”

The new player mission was really simple, with no brain-burning puzzles—just kill the targets. This matched the impatient mindset of most players perfectly—I don’t know who I am, I don’t know where I am, but I do know I want to go on a killing spree!

“But the problem is, in such a big place, where am I supposed to find them?”

Zhou Yuan walked out of the alley and looked around. When he glanced west, the Eyes of Identification gave him a mission hint.

[Walk this way.]

“Talk about a straightforward prompt.”

Zhou Yuan muttered to himself as he headed west along the street.

With the illusion effect in place, he wasn’t afraid of being captured by surveillance caras. After all, he would be teleported away once the mission ended—who could imagine he ca from a place across the vast ocean?

Thirty-odd minutes later.

Zhou Yuan arrived at a farm on the outskirts of the small town.

In the farm, a villa lit up with lights stood alone, surrounded by endless darkness, like an island floating in a deep sea, ready to be devoured at any mont.

Zhou Yuan felt a chill in his heart. Though he had a gun in hand, the atmosphere was a bit too eerie for his taste, and he was naturally timid, so he was a bit scared.

He looked around carefully, and a bunch of prompts from the Eyes of Identification popped up.

[There’s a bear trap here], [There’s a spike trap here], [There’s a poison snake trap here]…

Goodness, setting up so many traps… Zhou Yuan’s eyelid twitched. He followed the hints from the Eyes of Identification, twisting and turning, and it took him more than ten minutes to finally arrive at the entrance of the farmhouse villa.

The villa’s windows were tightly closed, the curtains drawn shut, and the sound of a piano floated from the second floor, its lody gentle and warm, as if painting the world with color, instantly dispelling the oppressiveness brought by the surrounding darkness.

However, amidst it all, Zhou Yuan faintly heard so discordant sounds that made him change his expression slightly.

After a brief mont of thought, he activated Ghost Walker and charged straight into the villa.

As soon as he entered, the noise beca clearer—it was a woman’s voice screaming, “oh! yes! yes!!”

His expression turned odd, and he couldn’t help but look up.

[Above you, Jim and Helena are composing a great symphony of life, while at the sa ti, Helena’s husband—the pianist Bob, is playing the piano to cheer them on.

This isn’t a solo performance, nor is it a duet revelry, but a trio’s paradise!

As a being with a Charm value of 8, you can go knock on the door and ask them to include you.]

“Alright, alright, this is how you play, huh?”

I need to find a way to kill them, all this noise is polluting my soul.

Zhou Yuan tiptoed around in the house, searching. As his gaze focused on a certain spot, a prompt popped up.

[The floor here can be lifted; you might find sothing unexpected beneath it.]

Sothing unexpected?

“Just hope it’s not chunks of a corpse in formalin…”

Zhou Yuan muttered as he felt around and successfully moved the wooden floorboards aside to reveal an iron box with a combination lock underneath.

“The password is 6324, it contains your favorite thing.”

Click!

Zhou Yuan entered the password to unlock it, and inside the tal box were several stacks of cash and three bright gold bars.

Just as suspected, my favorite things!

He was delighted and quickly stored the box in the player’s backpack.

The grid of the player’s backpack had no limit, allowing Zhou Yuan to put an unlimited amount of items inside, but the size of the objects was restricted; they couldn’t be too large.

After returning the floorboard to its original position, Zhou Yuan continued to wander around the first floor. The noise above hadn’t ceased and had even grown more intense with the rhythm of the fierce piano music.

He took out the Bow Tie Voice Changer and began recording the voices of Jim and Helena. Even if he didn’t need it for this mission, he could use their voices for disguise in the future.

Soon, the first floor was thoroughly searched; not a single valuable item was left, which was a disappointnt.

“No way, even the gas is out?”

In the kitchen, Zhou Yuan was speechless as his plan for a gas explosion fell through.

He had no choice but to activate Ghost Walker again, passing through the house and entering the adjacent warehouse.

“Not even any gasoline?”

His plan for arson fell through as well.

“Hmm… the hint earlier said I could just go up and knock on the door. That mustn’t be a joke, but a genuinely useful mission tip.”

Zhou Yuan pondered for a mont, waited for the cooldown of Ghost Walker to end, then stepped out from the warehouse, entered the villa, and headed straight to the second floor to knock on the door.

Thump, thump, thump.

The symphony inside paused montarily but then Jim and Helena resud their performance.

“No way, they’re continuing?” Zhou Yuan was taken aback. Should he say they’re brave or just indifferent?

“Who is it?” The person speaking must be the musician Bob.

Zhou Yuan only had a junior high school education and didn’t speak English, but he knew the Federal language— a hundred years ago, after the end of the Third World War, the world federation governnt was established and to promote communication across regions, the Federal language was invented and beca a compulsory second language for people of all continents besides their mother tongue.

“I’m here to join you,” Zhou Yuan replied in Federal language.

Creak.

The door opened, revealing a man dressed in a tailcoat with a gaunt face, eyes bloodshot with a dense network of lines, and an expression tinged with a hint of madness.

At the sa ti, a prompt from the Eyes of Identification popped up.

[Musician Bob, having been made a cuckold by his wife due to impotence, would encounter seven n who’d slept with his wife just by going out to buy cigarettes. Because of this, he awakened a certain special fetish.

A few days ago, he acquired a mysterious piece of sheet music at a gathering of musicians, and from that night on, he went mad.]

Bob looked Zhou Yuan up and down with those crazed eyes for a mont, then suddenly revealed a delighted smile:

“Co in quickly!”

“Huh? Just like that, you’re letting

in?” Zhou Yuan was montarily stunned, but he heightened his alert and walked into the room.

Then, he stiffened like a statue, confronted by a scene he would never forget.

On the bed.

A blob of pale, bloated flesh was writhing incessantly, with four arms and four legs protruding, as well as a male and a female head, both showing expressions of bliss as if they were in the pure land of ultimate paradise.

It seed to be the grotesque result of two bodies fused together, but it also resembled a nest of flesh built by countless maggots, nearly every inch of the body constantly twisting and wriggling, causing a tingling at the scalp.

Bob was unfazed by such a scene, quickly returning to his seat at the piano with a look of joy brimming on his face, unable to refrain from exclaiming:

“It’s a beautiful thing to see such a handso man like you join us, ah… bliss!!!”
