While the Vampire King quickly returned back to the castle, I opened a portal back to near the prison and easily sneak past all the other vampires and reach the place before the Vampire King did.
Though the Vampire King was quite fast. He’s not as fast as Arin though. And he also stopped by the prison to check the prisoners.
Obviously, it’s empty. So there’s nothing for them to drink.
Rather, it seems like the fact that soone among them betrayed them hit them really hard that they haven’t even noticed that all the prisoners went missing. Only now did they realize.
"It doesn’t matter. If tonight we decided to join with the Vampire Queen and the others, then there’s no need for us to look for humans anymore. Only if we decide to join them," the Vampire King said. Though he didn’t say that to the other vampires. Because he’s looking straight at the ceiling of the prison. Straight to my location.
I know that he hasn’t decided to join us yet. Maybe he said that so the other vampires can make their own decision. And whether they will join us or not, it’s up to the individual. Not the King. Though it’s still the King’s decision if he will let other vampires join us or not.
What I sense from him is hatred. Not toward humans. But to the cult. Maybe they’re one step closer to join us now.
He didn’t co to this room right away. He t soone who is mourning for his son’s death. Is that the son’s mother? Maybe that’s the case.
They are quite far from here. That’s why I can’t tell what they’re saying to each other. They’re having an argunt right now.
The Vampire King seems to be telling her to calm down. Since their son is a Vampire Duke, maybe she’s also a Vampire Duke.
After calming down, they decided to co here together. So he’s bringing soone he can trust the most with him.
He enters the room with the other vampire. The other vampire looked at with the intent to kill. But she’s too weak so I didn’t bother to do anything.
Also, the Vampire King has just lost his son. If he lost his wife as well, then cooperation is impossible.
"See? I said that I’ll be waiting for you here, didn’t I?" I said.
This is so kind of audience room. There’s a throne. But I didn’t sit there. Because that would be disrespectful to a potential ally.
...Though I have already trespassed this castle before. So I was already disrespectful.
"I’m bringing my wife here because she’s soone I can trust. She’s soone I can rely on whenever I’m facing difficult situations," the Vampire King said.
"Nice to et you, Milady. I’m sorry, but I won’t tell you my na. There are already few of the vampires left this castle that I think must be related to the cult. So I won’t reveal my identity yet. But I have shown my face to you two. If you don’t mind, I will wear a mask to cover my face from now on," I said.
"Do you really think that there are other traitors?" The Vampire King’s wife asked after letting cover my appearance.
"Most likely. Three were killed last night. And from the look of it, a few of them escaped this morning. The first thing you need to know is if there’s any relation between them all. If so, it’s likely that everyone related to them in a way is related to the cult. That’s just a possibility though. I don’t want to cause distrust among you guys," I said.
"...Yes. I received so reports from the other that there are so vampires who left the castle for so unknown reason. And they’re all related to those three. They all are subordinate to a certain Vampire Duke," the Vampire King’s wife said.
I see. Then it’s possible that the Vampire Duke she ntioned is the one in charge of infiltrating this castle.
"Wait, you didn’t ntion that at all!" the Vampire King said.
"You’re always the one to feel guilty when sothing bad happened among us. I’m sure you blad yourself not only for the death of our son. But also how the three of them betrayed us. If I tell you about it earlier, there will be more pressure put on you as our king. So I refrained to tell you about it. But now, it seems like a good ti to say it. Though I still don’t trust that guy completely," the Vampire King’s wife said as she pointed a finger at .
"That’s fine. Also, whether you want to join the Vampire Queen or not, it will be up to her to convince you later tonight. She told that I should try to persuade you. But because the cause of your subordinates’ betrayal is human, I don’t think I will be able to do it. So right now, I’m here to answer your questions. If you have anything you want to ask, I will answer them. If you can’t trust my answer, I can bring a centaur here and make it see if I tell the truth or not," I said.
"...No need. If the centaur if with you, then it can lie. I’ll ask you so questions then. Answer them truthfully," the Vampire King said.
I nodded in agreent.
There’s no need for to try so hard to convince them to join us. They’re vampires. I’ll let Arin decide later tonight.
The two asked about everything related to the cult first. And I answered them truthfully. I didn’t tell them that I know so things because I ca from the future though.
Then they asked how I t another Vampire King and killed him. They also asked how I t Arin.
I answered them as much as I could. Before they started asked who I am.
"I am currently the most wanted man by the cult. Whether they are humans or monsters, just to kill , they will let many people die. That’s why I’m hiding my appearance right now," I said.
"So you won’t even tell us your na?" the Vampire King asked.
"Not now. With how many more of vampires here who might be related to the cult, I can’t tell you at all. If any of the vampires here actually contracted to a summoner, then their summoner can be contacted via telepathy and learn everything that happened here. So until later tonight when we got centaurs to see you guys telling the truth, I won’t reveal too much," I said.
They are asking to get more information that will make their decision later tonight. Though there’s one important thing they need to worry about.
"The most worrying thing is that the Vampire Duke who is the leader of the faction that the three traitors and those who left this morning. If there’s a familiar here, it’s most likely him. And now that I think about it, his faction is big enough to face those who are loyal to us. I shouldn’t have trusted him that much," the Vampire King said.
"We don’t know yet if he’s involved or not. He might also be a victim. Let’s wait later tonight. If he’s with the cult, the centaurs will surely notice if he lied about it. And the Vampire Queen was much stronger than you. Not just her, but when the three of their Vampire Dukes moved, none of us could react. They are much stronger than we are. And we will be safer if we do sothing tonight," his wife said.
Seems like his wife is his voice of reason. Though she seed angry when they t before coming here. She can truly control her emotion.
"Oh, tonight, I will also take a peek. So I want to make a hiding spot here first if you don’t mind. No, wait. I’ll have a better idea. You guys just have to hide the fact that there’s a human in the room later tonight," I said.
I don’t want to peek here again while being surrounded by corpses. That’s why I told them to make sure that they don’t leak the fact that I will be there tonight.
"And there’s sothing else that you need to know. The Vampire Queen is also a descendant of a succubus. She can use charm magic on male. Whether they are humans or vampires, they can fall under her charm. I told her that she can use it last night, but she didn’t use it at all. This ans that she really wanted you guys to make a decision yourself instead of forcing you to do it. I believe she won’t use it later tonight. But it might be a good idea to get that Vampire Duke to be chard by her if you found out that he’s with the cult. Well, I’ll leave everything to you and her. I will just watch you from where I hide," I said.
The fact that Arin didn’t charm anyone even though that’s the easiest thod ans that she cares about the vampires here even if it’s just a little bit.
I don’t feel sorry at all that I told them about her secret. I’m sure she doesn’t mind.
After all, she’s the strongest one here. There is no vampire who can stop her even if she’s being surrounded.
