Feeling overwheld because they are outnumbered, the monsters here stopped talking. Even the ones fighting Crabbe underwater have stopped fighting and resurfaced. It’s obvious they lost though.
And in this mont, soone who seems to be the leader of the monsters here stepped forward. He looks just like an ordinary man if not for the gills on his neck.
"I’m sorry if we offend you soway. Please accept our apology," he said.
"As long as you understand," I said.
"...So, no fighting? I’m going back then," Shelia said as she entered the portal again.
Seeing that, the monsters are curious. Because everyone inside the portal is monster.
"Are they all monsters?" he asked.
"They are," I replied.
"Are you the King of Monsters?" he asked again.
"I’d like to think I am. Though I’m not the King of all monsters. Just the King of those monsters inside. What about it?" I asked.
"...Would you mind talking with sowhere private?" he asked.
He seems to be the leader. And I just nodded. I don’t think anyone here is threatening to .
Except a certain organs inside their body that fill their blood with sothing. Seems like they’re poison.
It seems like they are poisonous. Or maybe venomous. But I doubt they bite. Maybe it’s just their blood. So they are poisonous.
I can’t say for sure. What if it’s not poison? Maybe rather than poison, it’s sothing to heal people.
I don’t know much about rmaids. But I heard in my past life that eating them might actually turn you into an immortal. But that’s just a myth. The truth is still not known.
How do I rember all that when I have brain damage that made easily forgetful? I said that I’m only good in dicine, right? That’s what happened.
Anyway, it seems like because of that rumor, humans started hunting rmaids or any monster that could probably be rmaids. I guess that’s why that these monsters hate humans.
Still, if they were hunted so much until they hate humans, I guess humans did eat them. And I have never heard of anyone got poisoned by rmaids. Maybe they are not poisonous. But I’ll be careful just in case.
Anyway, I followed the leader of these monsters together with Crabbe. I made him my bodyguard. If we sohow ended up underwater, he can be the one talking then.
"...Can we just talk alone?" the leader asked. I guess Crabbe’s presence scares him.
"Crabbe, go back with Ray," I said.
I still have Victoria with . She’s hiding under my clothes.
Anyway, even if we end up being underwater, I will still be fine. There’s no need to worry about them harming . Unless they use their blood.
Just in case, I need Victoria to protect by covering my body with her. I doubt poison works on Victoria anyway.
’So they’re poisonous. What about your head?’ Victoria asked via telepathy after she covered almost my entire body except for the parts that are visible.
’Cover the rest later when I tell you to,’ I said.
I still don’t know their intention. They were scared seeing the forces of my kingdom. But that doesn’t an they won’t do anything. Maybe they can even manipulate their target’s mind using mind control or sothing. Just in case, I’ll also cover my entire body with Aura.
There’s a passage leading underground. It’s the lowest part of the island where we could see the ocean from there through a clear window.
’It’s like an aquarium,’ Victoria said.
Maybe. I don’t know.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" I asked.
"Before that, please drink this," he said as he offered with a glass of red wine. At least the scent is like one. But I know that it’s actually blood diluted in water. Their blood.
The island is small. I can see everything with my Divine Vision. So I know that there’s no source of fresh water here unless it’s from the rain. And I don’t think they are creatures that need to drink freshwater. They can still drink from the sea water.
"That’s not water. And that’s not wine either. That’s blood. An island this small without anything to catch the rain, there’s no fresh water. I won’t drink it," I said.
"Are you sure? Humans always hunted us for our blood thinking that it makes them immortal. Will you not drink this?" he asked.
"I don’t care about being immortal or not. Those are for weaklings. As long as you can increase your magic level, your lifespan will be longer. Those people who spread the rumor are just lazy to cultivate," I said.
And being an Aura Master, my lifespan is even longer. Though the brain damage might actually make into a sick person with dentia in the future. A long life where I couldn’t even rember myself. That would be suck I believe.
"Hoh, it’s rare for a human to not want to drink our blood. But that’s good. After all, our blood has poison instead of fountain of youth," he said.
So it’s poison indeed. Then what’s the effect?
"What’s the effect of your poison?" I asked.
"Death. Those who got poisoned will not die right away. They will see hallucination. And after a while, they will got weaker until they died," he said.
I guess the rumor was spread because soone who drunk it in the past was hallucinating. Then it makes sense.
"Anyway, I don’t want to be immortal. So you’re a rmaid. What do you want?" I asked.
"We are indeed rmaids. Humans think that rmaids have fish tail and the upper body of a human. But that’s not true. We are just like human except for the gills and our poison. Well, maybe our strength is different as well. We’re stronger than humans. At least ordinary humans. I doubt we’re stronger than you," he said.
"Do you know about Aura?" I asked just in case.
"I think I have heard of it. But I don’t know much," he said.
I thought he would know. Well, it doesn’t matter.
"So, why are we talking privately?" I asked once again.
He didn’t answer right away. He just looked outside the window and see fish swimming in the ocean being eaten by bigger fish.
"See that? That’s nature. We’re afraid of sothing bigger and stronger devour us. So we need protection. Since you are the King of monsters, I want you to protect us," he said.
"You do know that a King is not just so random title, right? If you all beco residents of my kingdom, then you have to obey . There’s no way I can accept you without receiving anything," I replied.
"I understand. So, what do you want?" he asked.
"We are at war against an organization that wants to destroy the world. So obviously we want manpower. How good are you at fighting and tell about your skills and magic including your poison," I said.
"...Before that, who is it the one we’re fighting?" he asked.
"Mostly humans. But they have tars who forced monsters to work for them. Don’t compare them with . Because everyone in my kingdom stays there by their own will and not because I forced them," I said.
"But other than our poison, we’re not that good at fighting. Just one of you and several of us were defeated," he said.
"We’ll decide whether we can use you or not. Also, don’t worry about my monster. The one who defeated your guys before, he was half his current size when I first t him. Everyone in my kingdom grows stronger by competing with each other. It has the best environnt for monsters who want to be stronger. Now, tell about you and the rmaids. Then later, pick the strongest fighter to fight . I want to see for myself what you are capable of. By the way, about your poison. Do you have antidote for it?" I asked.
"We use magic to cure poison. Poison is in our blood but our magic is to cure ailnt such as poison and the likes," he said.
Oh, that’s nice. Healing magic can’t do that. Well, maybe if you’re a master level healer like Kayla, you can cure poison. But their magic is focused more on ailnt instead of healing injuries.
Wait, ailnt?
"What about brainwashing!? Can you cure brainwashed people?!" I asked.
"Huh? If the brainwashing is by magic, then it’s possible. If not, I don’t know," he said.
Whoa. Just that alone and my impression about him already improved by a lot. I like that already. I believe we have a lot to ask from the rmaids.
And then there’s this island as well. An island with a room underneath where we can watch the ocean directly. This will be good for those who can’t fight underwater but has great leadership so they can lead those who fight underwater from here. I want this island. Or maybe this thing alone that allow us to see outside. It seems to be thicker than ordinary window. Maybe the Blacksmith can make it if I show this to him.
