"We're not a couple." Yu Zhi gently pushed the nu aside, then turned to Lu Li and said, "You order. I don't know what to eat."

The waiter retreated half a step awkwardly, slightly bowing. "Apologies."

"It's fine." Lu Li lowered his eyes slightly, his ears still burning uncomfortably. Feigning composure, he opened the nu and began looking through each item carefully.

Yu Zhi rested her chin on her hand, gazing leisurely at the scenery outside the window, completely unaware of his unease.

"How do you want your steak cooked?" A gentle voice, soft like the breeze, suddenly entered her ears.

Yu Zhi glanced at him. "dium well."

Lu Li asked again, "What about dessert? What flavor do you like?"

As Yu Zhi was about to answer, the phone placed to the side began to ring. She glanced at the na labeled on it and swiped to answer.

"Where are you?" Shi Wei, staring at the increasingly dim sky outside, furrowed his brows tightly.

He knew her school dismissal ti. He had thought she'd return quickly, but waiting and waiting, he still hadn't seen her.

Yu Zhi paused, then asked Lu Li, "Where is this?"

"297 Wutong Road."

Afraid Shi Wei hadn't heard, Yu Zhi repeated over the phone, "I'm at 297 Wutong Road."

There was sudden silence on the other end. Yu Zhi glanced at the phone screen to confirm he hadn't hung up, then repeated herself again.

"Who are you with?" Shi Wei tightened his grip on the phone, his gaze growing darker.

No one knew how jealous he felt upon hearing Yu Zhi talk to another man. Jealousy consud him, driving him to the brink of madness.

"With a classmate."

"Is it that guy nad Lu Li?"

"Yeah." Noticing Shi Wei's unusual tone, Yu Zhi couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"

Shi Wei scoffed quietly to himself, then, biting his teeth, said, "Why are you having dinner with him?"

He grabbed his jacket and strode out of the room. His dark, tunnel-like eyes brimd with icy coldness.

Yu Zhi's heart inexplicably felt unsettled. She pressed her lips together slightly. "It's prearranged."

Shi Wei didn't press further. He took a deep breath and ruthlessly suppressed the turmoil inside him. "I'm coming over now. Hanging up."

Yu Zhi: "..."

She nonchalantly stuffed her phone back into her backpack, but that ominous premonition inside her kept growing stronger.

Lu Li forked a macaron and placed it on her plate. His handso face carried a warm, sunny smile. "What are you thinking about? Eat up."

Yu Zhi's wandering thoughts were pulled back to reality. She gazed at the petite and adorable treat on her plate, her light coffee-colored eyes shimring like glass, bright and sparkling.

She didn't dwell on anything else. Picking up her fork, she took a big bite out of the macaron, leaving a crescent moon-shaped mark.

Seeing this, Lu Li's smile deepened. He quietly watched her, as though unwilling to miss a single expression on her face.

About fifteen minutes passed.

Shi Wei stord into the western restaurant, his gaze sweeping over the couples seated around. By the window, he found the little girl indulging happily in her food.

Shi Wei discreetly assessed the man across from her, Lu Li, and a subtle hint of disdain flickered in his eyes.

Straightening his clothes slightly, he briskly walked up and called out, "Zhizhi."

The affectionate nickna made Lu Li abruptly raise his head. He glanced at Shi Wei, then turned to Yu Zhi and asked, "Who is this?"

"He's—"

Shi Wei interrupted her, fixing his gaze on Lu Li with a slight smirk. "Sorry for the trouble my young lady caused you."

Sitting right beside Yu Zhi, he touched her head softly, his voice impossibly tender. "I never said you couldn't eat western food. But heading out without telling ? Do you know how worried I was at ho?"

Yu Zhi: "..."

She set down the knife and fork in her hands and said apologetically, "I forgot...."

"It's fine." Shi Wei 'magnanimously' smiled. "Just rember next ti."

Lu Li, watching from the side, seed a little dazed. His gaze flitted between the two before reaching a conclusion: the man in front of him must be Yu Zhi's brother.

Once the idea took root in his mind, it seed to grow uncontrollably, making him subconsciously ignore the lingering affection in Shi Wei's eyes.

Lu Li straightened his posture, his tone unusually polite. "No trouble at all. Yu Zhi and I are classmates. It's only right to look after her."

Shi Wei's smile faded significantly. He replied with a curt "Hmm," then glanced at Yu Zhi's plate, which still had half her steak left. "Are you full?"

"Full." She didn't actually enjoy steak much; she'd eaten more macarons that night.

"Then how about we head ho?"

Shi Wei was eager to take her away. He couldn't tolerate her having dinner in what he deed a "couples' restaurant" with another man who wasn't him.

Just thinking about how the two were likely chatting amicably before he arrived made his heart ache unbearably.

Yu Zhi agreed, standing up and saying to Lu Li, "I'm leaving now. I'll treat you to a al soti soon."

Lu Li smiled. "Sure. If you don't understand tonight's howork, ssage on WeChat."

"Okay." Yu Zhi was just about to wave goodbye when Shi Wei grabbed her wrist.

With a faintly intimidating smile, he glanced at Lu Li. "Your na's Lu Li?"

Lu Li felt a little nervous. "Yes, Lu as in 'land,' and Li as in 'dawn.'"

"Got it." Shi Wei pressed his tongue against his molars, swallowing the irritation in his heart. "Then, see you... 'soti.'"

"Take care." Lu Li's mood brightened—if Yu Zhi's brother knew his na, it ant she must've ntioned him in front of her family.

Shi Wei had no knowledge of Lu Li's little internal thoughts. He shot him a cold glance before pulling Yu Zhi's hand and walking straight out of the restaurant.

Once the two were in the car, Shi Wei gripped the steering wheel, emanating a nacingly low pressure. "Haven't I ntioned before not to get too close to male classmates at school?"

His voice was husky, clearly suppressing intense anger, but he kept himself in check to avoid scaring her.

"You did." Yu Zhi lowered her eyes slightly. Her lashes quivered like a small brush trembling softly.

Shi Wei leaned back into the seat, loosening the buttons on his cuffs and collar, trying to relax his rigidity.

He tilted his head and softened his voice. "Do you even realize what kind of place this restaurant is?"

Yu Zhi's almond-shaped eyes lifted slightly, her face carrying a puzzled expression, clearly not understanding what he ant.

"This restaurant is Imperial City's most renowned couples' restaurant." The sarcasm in Shi Wei's gaze deepened. "And the hotel upstairs is theirs as well."

"Hotel?" Yu Zhi was utterly confused now, recalling the waiter's recomnded set nu and starting to piece things together.

Shi Wei gripped her shoulders. "Zhizhi, do you know how scared I was, thinking he might take advantage of you, while I was driving over?"

Yu Zhi t his gaze, guilt growing stronger within her. She pressed her lips gently together, montarily unsure of how to respond.
