The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress Chapter 266 - 245: Ah-Shi, is someone following you?
"Little Zhi, your boyfriend didn’t co to pick you up?" Kevin stood beside the young girl, lightly twirling his car keys between his fingers.
It was already close to ten o’clock.
The company employees had been busy all day due to the product launch event, and only now were they trickling out, dragging their exhausted bodies as they clocked off.
The girl had originally left ahead of him, so seeing her still lingering downstairs took him by surprise.
Yu Zhi shook her head. "He had sothing to do."
She glanced at the ride-hailing app on her phone. Ten minutes had passed since she requested a car, but not a single driver had accepted her order.
The winter wind, sharp as icy knives, sliced rcilessly at her body. After standing in the cold for a while, her legs had started to grow numb.
"Let take you ho," Kevin smiled at her.
The keychain in his hand still had a white fuzzy pom-pom hanging from it—an incongruous addition—which jingled faintly as he swung the keys.
Yu Zhi rembered this pom-pom had been a gift from his girlfriend.
Just a few hours earlier, he had been talking about her, saying he planned to celebrate with her properly after work.
"No need." Yu Zhi pressed her lips together, unwilling to waste his ti. Without much thought, she lied, "I already got a car."
"Alright. I’ll wait until you’re in the car before I leave."
After all, she was a young girl, and Kevin couldn’t bring himself to walk away, leaving her alone here late at night.
Yu Zhi: "..."
She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated, unsure how to cover up her lie. In the end, she could only let out a silent sigh.
A few minutes passed.
The so-called car she had "successfully hailed" still hadn’t appeared on the roadside.
Without a word, Yu Zhi glanced at her phone screen. Just as she was ntally calculating how to confess the truth, her palm buzzed from a vibration.
She quickly swiped to answer, waited about five seconds, and then spoke slowly, "Are you across the street? Alright, I’ll co over now."
On the other end of the call, Wen Renche: "??"
He frowned slightly, a sense of unease creeping into his chest. His tone beca anxious: "Ah-Shi, is soone following you?"
Yu Zhi didn’t respond. She turned her head and pointed toward the opposite side of the street as if signaling Kevin. While hurrying across, she pretended to talk to the "driver."
"Is it that white car?"
"Mm, I see it. Hold on a second."
Her bizarre statents left Wen Renche utterly baffled.
Fearing that the girl might have gotten herself into trouble, his face grew cold as he swiftly grabbed his coat from the couch. "Ah-Shi, where are you right now?"
Yu Zhi crossed to the other side of the road, keeping an eye on Kevin’s car until it drove off. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
After giving a brief, simple explanation, she finally answered his question, "I’m downstairs at the company. Heading ho soon."
Wen Renche paused for a mont. "Shi Wei didn’t co to pick you up?"
He had hesitated for a long ti before making this call.
Ever since Shi Wei left the Wen Family earlier that day, he didn’t know how he had managed to pass the ti.
He also couldn’t imagine the girl’s reaction as Shi Wei recounted the events between them.
To his surprise, the girl hadn’t even seen Shi Wei, and Shi Wei had actually left her standing here alone in the cold night air, completely ignored.
"He’s a bit busy." Yu Zhi lowered her gaze slightly.
Underneath the veil of her long lashes, an almost imperceptible flicker of sadness crossed her eyes.
Hearing this, Wen Renche felt a surge of anger rise within him.
He rummaged in the car for his headphones and slipped them on, his soft voice brimming with tenderness and just a hint of regret. "Stay there. I’ll be there soon."
"Forget it. I’ve already called a car." Yu Zhi rejected him in the sa manner she had refused Kevin.
