Gui Quan knelt on the ground, nearly scared to tears.

Madam Shen got away with poisoning the Crown Princess Consort, which clearly shows her importance in the Crown Prince’s eyes. As a re servant, what could he possibly do? Could he really dare to command soone to tie up Madam Shen?!

The Crown Prince and Madam Shen quarrel, but it’s the servants who suffer. Though the Eastern Palace pays well, not a single coin cos easily!

Gui Quan could only force a flattering smile: "Madam Shen only poisoned the Crown Princess Consort out of deep affection for His Highness. After all, she’s just an eighteen-year-old girl, inexperienced with the ways of the world, innocent and naive. How could she fully understand right from wrong? It might be better for Your Highness not to be angry."

Lu Ying responded coldly: "Inexperienced with the ways of the world, innocent and naive? She orchestrated Xue Ling’s false allegations and sabotage, deliberately feigned weakness to gain entry into the Eastern Palace, poisoned people and caused trouble, provoked the Crown Princess Consort, attempted to harm my direct heir... Every single offense shows calculated scheming, extraordinary boldness—what wouldn’t Shen Yinning dare to do?! She commits cris and dares to act arrogant—what, does she expect to send a grand ceremonial sedan to bring her out? This woman is obstinate and incorrigible. Since she likes the dungeon so much, let her stay there for as long as she wishes!"

Gui Quan eagerly chid in: "Your Highness is absolutely right. Madam Shen is rebellious and defiant. Perhaps it would be wise to keep her locked up a few more days, to teach her a proper lesson. The dungeon is dark and damp, the food is spoiled and rotten, and there are likely rats and cockroaches—it couldn’t be more suited for Madam Shen to do so serious reflecting!"

Lu Ying’s brows furrowed darkly.

He intended for Shen Yinning to reflect deeply, not to suffer cruelly.

That young girl fears rats and cockroaches most of all. She must have already agonized for a night in the cell. How could she endure more?

He cast a piercing glance at Gui Quan: "Is that sothing you should say? Should I lock you up for a few days to teach *you* a lesson?"

Gui Quan felt like crying but had no tears.

Whether he called Madam Shen naive or defiant, it seed there was no right answer. What else could he say?!

After a short while, inspiration struck Gui Quan, and he grinned: "Your Highness, the dungeon has been in disrepair for years. If it isn’t renovated by craftsn in the next few days, it could easily collapse. Might I suggest having Madam Shen temporarily move to the Mountain Moon Residence? Not to release her, of course, but to facilitate refurbishing the dungeon."

The Mountain Moon Residence was steeped in silence, broken only by the rustling sound of wind brushing through treetops outside the window.

Lu Ying placed a chess piece down: "Fine."

Shen Yinning was soon brought out of the dungeon, being attended by several young palace maids who bathed her, dressed her in fresh garnts and shoes, and then escorted her to the Mountain Moon Residence.

She gracefully offered a curtsy: "Your servant greets His Highness and wishes Your Highness everlasting well-being."

Lu Ying fiddled with his white jade chess piece, raising his eyelids to cast her a glance: "After two days of reflection in the dungeon, have you acknowledged your faults?"

"Your servant admits fault. Your servant should not have rashly used that powder on my younger sister without clarity of its effects. Now my sister can no longer bear children—what should be done?! If my aunt learns of this, she’ll undoubtedly be heartbroken for my sister! Your Highness, can it truly be that the Imperial Physician cannot heal her?!"

On her small, delicate face were expressions of sorrow and concern, paired with a few crocodile tears filled with affectation.

Anyone who saw her would no doubt remark on her exceptional acting skills.

Lu Ying could hardly bear to watch.

He took a sip of tea: "Co over here."

"Your Highness..."

Shen Yinning coquettishly leaned toward him.

Lu Ying wrapped an arm around her waist: "You’ve grown thinner."

"Lu Ying-gege, you’re so cruel, leaving in the dungeon to be bullied without a care. Could I not grow thinner from such treatnt?!"

Shen Yinning dabbed at her eyes with a dainty handkerchief, her voice choked with sobs, crying pitifully, presenting an air of forlorn fragility.

"Let check your injuries."

Lu Ying pulled aside Shen Yinning’s green upper garnt.

Shen Yinning obediently turned her back to him, allowing him to untie her soft pink bodice.

The late autumn dusk sunlight stread through the green gauze windows, illuminating the woman like a peeled lychee—fair, translucent, supple, and delicate, without a trace of injury!

Lu Ying’s calloused fingertip traced along her spine, eliciting a tingle of cool sensation: "Where are the injuries?"

Shen Yinning’s voice softened: "Your Highness, though my body isn’t hurt, my heart is deeply wounded..."

What a cunning little vixen she was.

Lu Ying leisurely drew her into his arms, pressing gentle kisses on her ear and neck: "Bear a child."
