Her beauty montarily made everyone present forget why she had appeared in the Capital, leaving them helplessly captivated by her allure.

A few debauched young n were so astonished that they held their breath, staring at her with wide eyes, as though their gazes could affix themselves permanently to her figure.

Even the other young gentlen, though slightly more composed, couldn’t help but lose their deanor. Even after awkwardly averting their gazes, they stole glances at her out of the corners of their eyes.

Even Prince Shen, Lu Zhengliu, couldn’t resist casting a few more glances at Shen Yinning, silently remarking that while the Capital overflowed with beauties, a goddess of this caliber could only be Shen Yinning herself.

The married won present frowned deeply, recalling how Shen Yinning had stirred the waters of the Capital years ago with her face alone, inciting countless n to fight over her. They discreetly pinched their husbands nearby, fearful that their souls were being ensnared.

Lu Ying smirked faintly.

He had expected that at an occasion like this, Shen Yinning would inevitably make an appearance.

Moreover, knowing her nature, she would surely ensure she was the last to arrive, making a grand entrance after all were gathered.

Captivating the entire crowd—this had been her habitual tactic since childhood.

No one knew how much ti had passed before the guests finally snapped out of their daze, murmuring amongst themselves in astonishnt: "It’s Shen Yinning! Wasn’t she exiled to Gan State three years ago? Why is she appearing in the Capital now?"

Even Shen Yunxi found it hard to believe.

Three years had passed. She had thought Shen Yinning would perish in that war-torn town on the border, eliminating any threat to her position as Crown Princess Consort. Yet why now was Shen Yinning present in the Capital?!

And even more shockingly, her beauty surpassed that of three years ago!

She now resembled an unrivaled moon in radiant glory, treading loftily upon the clouds. Her re presence suppressed the charm of all the won present, making them seem dull and lifeless in comparison!

Shen Yunxi instinctively glanced towards Lu Ying.

He was observing Shen Yinning. Though his expression remained calm and indifferent, she could detect the faint ripple of emotion flickering in his eyes.

Shen Yunxi clenched her fists tightly.

The Crown Prince’s thoughts were as inscrutable as a deep well; no one could fathom what lay within. From childhood, she had been uncertain whether he truly harbored feelings for Shen Yinning.

But what man in power under the heavens could resist the allure of a beauty?

Shen Yinning possessed an extraordinary elegance. Once, she had even been Lu Ying’s childhood sweetheart and fiancée—how could Shen Yunxi believe Lu Ying remained entirely unaffected?

She couldn’t help but tug Mrs. Qin’s sleeve, whispering, "Mother..."

Mrs. Qin, eyes fixed warily on Shen Yinning, patted Shen Yunxi’s hand in a soothing gesture, saying, "Don’t panic, dear. Let’s first get a sense of her intentions."

Adopting the deanor of an elder, Mrs. Qin was just about to inquire into Shen Yinning’s return. However, a sudden loud shout interrupted her: "Shen Yinning, what nonsense are you spewing about familial ties?! Even though both of you are nad Shen, the one celebrating a birthday here is Lord Shen, the Duke. How dare a village woman from Gan State shalessly call him ’uncle’?! I’ve told you countless tis not to co here causing trouble—it would be disgraceful to offend esteed guests! Yet you insist on making a scene, throwing away your dignity just to gain the spotlight! What are you still standing around for? Go back now!"

The speaker was none other than Yin Shanshan.

She glared at Shen Yinning with a mix of irritation and smugness.

She had been right: this provincial woman was petty and pretentious. After all her claims of not coming, hadn’t she turned up anyway?

The guests exchanged bewildered expressions as they turned their gazes on Yin Shanshan.

Was this inexplicable Gao Family concubine dim-witted?

Shen Yinning was originally the genuine and unequivocal niece of Shen Yan. How could there be any talk of claiming false relations?

Even Gao Zheng couldn’t endure it any longer. He tugged Yin Shanshan’s sleeve discreetly. "This matter is beyond us—stop speaking nonsense!"

"Husband!" Yin Shanshan shook off his hand, full of righteous indignation. "Can’t you see Shen Yinning falsely claiming relations here? I know she’s envious of —jealous that my elder brother is a favorite of the Crown Prince, jealous that I’ve borne you two sons. That’s why she’s rushing to find a backer. But Lord Shen, the Duke, is the father of the Crown Princess Consort. How dare she fabricate connections? She can sche her trivial house tricks against all she likes, but she absolutely shouldn’t act so shalessly, using such self-deceiving thods to elevate her status!"

Gao Zheng’s scalp tingled with dread; he had no idea how to respond.

Lowering his voice, he muttered, "Please stop—it’s true, she really is Lord Shen’s legitimate niece!"

"Husband, have you lost your mind?!" Yin Shanshan burst out in disbelief. "She’s just an orphan girl from Gan State—the only thing she has to her na is her looks, which she used to marry you as your wife. How could she possibly be the direct niece of the reigning Duke Shen?!"

Gao Zheng was racked with anxiety, silently lanting that Shen Yinning wasn’t rely the Duke’s niece—her father was the previous reigning Duke Shen before him!
