Chapter 44: 132

The next day, Incus was inside a room with a window behind her and a wide table was set up.

The four of us were hiding behind a fake wall which works like a one way glass, that Vertere made from his illusionary magic.

We had made sure to sneak into the room as Incus was making her way, because we didn’t want to risk getting caught and possibly killed... we could have waited outside the door but they might say valuable information which we can use for the future.

People then began entering the room, with an armband around their upper arm with an emblem and where they come from, the noble’s would just have their family name written on while the others had their merchant name.

As they sat down, I couldn’t help but notice Alleus shaking.

"Whats the matter..?" I asked quietly.

"It’s my father." He pointed at a man who had the same kind of hair as her, blond with the inside pink.

So it wasn’t just hair dye...

"I have to talk to him, this might be my last time that I get to meet him..!"

Grabbing her hand, I shook my head.

"You can do that later."

"What if there is no later? What if he leaves right away and I don’t get the chance to speak to him—?"

Incus then began to speak out of nowhere, looking at the table of important figures, I shifted my attention.

"You must be wondering why I called you all here today, I’ll keep it short. I need your help to fund a new army."

"Are you mad!" A noble slammed the table and continued:

"Your plan of invading the demon’s homeland is impossible, we’d just be wasting our resources! If you think that you can just order us to listen to you then you’re wrong!"

"Does anyone else have anything to say?" Incus asked, her tone calm.

Alleus’ father raised his hand.

"Will you be compensating us if we agree in helping your cause, if we simply funnel our resources then we won’t make a profit, leading for us to file for bankruptcy."

"Quite the intelligent man are you? You don’t have to worry, I will repay all of you who agree. So raise your hand and stay if you will and if not, leave. The servants will lead you out."

All of the merchants had agreed while most of the major nobles had left, as they did, Incus blankly stared as they went.

"If we are to aid your army, the least you can do is tell us what it’ll be allocated to and what you need... it would be like a demon’s cruelty if you don’t." Said a merchant.

"Indeed, an invasion in our wealth would be pointless if it’s simply going to be spent on thing’s which aren’t needed." Said a noble.

Standing up to look at the window behind her, Incus looked at the people who stayed, the sun making her look majestic.

"Soon, I’ll show you. But I need some time to prepare the list of thing’s to be requested, I’ll have servants send out the list."

Their conversations continued on for some time, but it eventually ended.

There were some odd things said which I believed were shadowing but it was only a hypothesis, I’ll only learn once they actually happen or things which leads towards it becomes evident.

As the people left, we followed when Incus turned her to look outside the window once more.

"I thought I was going to die, that was so suffocating..!" Vertere huffed.

Alleus was looking at her father with a somber look.

Pushing her forward, I gave her a thumbs up to go talk to her father.

Steadily, she slowly approached him.

After a beat of silence, her father then hugged Alleus and they talked with each other.

Pointing towards me, her father waved his hand at me. Waving my hand back, they continued their chat for short while before saying their goodbyes.

Patting Alleus by the head, I said:

"Don’t worry, I know that it must be tough to leave him." If we took her father with us then we might face consequences because he’s needed for the current direction of the story.

Waiting outside the door, Incus began walking through the halls.

Servants then appeared in front of her, using a maneuvering skill.

"Have you gotten their information?" Incus asked, her tone cold.

"Yes your majesty, all the nobles who have disagreed has been taken to a location that makes getting rid of them easy."

I couldn’t see it but I can just tell that a smile was on her face.

"Make sure that they don’t move from away from their location, also set up a meeting with the royal family... it seems that they’ve limited my access to their banks."

Hooded and cloaked, Incus watched one of the nobles.

A servant in disguised notice Incus and began leading the noble in an isolated area, the noble was going to be lead to a shop but they were going to take a so called shortcut.

Making her move, Incus summoned a sword.

Walking in the alleyway, the servant then jumped in front of the noble, blocking his way.

"What in the world do you think you’re doing—?"

Scraping her sword on the ground, Incus then said:

"Give me access to your family’s funds."

Turning around, the noble pulled out a blade.

"So, you really are going to use your strength to force us to your will."

In a swift motion, Incus completely eviscerated the noble’s blade.

"Don’t make me repeat myself, give me access to your family’s funds."

Visibly angry, the noble raised his fist.

Dodging a punch, Incus sliced his arm off clean.

"Urgh..! How dare you!" Falling to his knees, he gripped the large gaping wound.

Leaning closer, Incus demanded once more:

"If you don’t give me access to your funds, I will not only kill you but your entire family lineage, I don’t care if it’s your furthest cousin from another kingdom... they will die."

Biting his lips, the Noble then conceded:

"Fine... the account name is under my name ’Yelfor Artind’ and the encrypt is ’palm seed weed’, now please... let me go—"

Cutting off his head, Incus turned her head at the servant.

"Cover his death, don’t make it normal, say that he died from choking from a marshmallow while laughing at a commoner slipping."

Bowing his head, the servant quickly disappeared with the body.

Incus continued this rampage of silent killing, asking for the noble’s bank information before killing them.

Soon the sun then rose.
