Chapter 38: 128 (4)
Vanishing around , I swung my scabbard blade at Alleus but it was just an afterimage.
"Shit—!"
Seeing a blade in it’s scabbard slash towards my head, I bent my body back, barely dodging out of the way.
Appearing right behind , Alleus did a downwards axe kick.
Blocking the attack, I was harshly slamd into the ground.
"Urgh!"
Rolling back up, I focused my vision.
The impossible speed of Alleus was impossible to see, and she was using the eye of the Truthseeker, making her an even more formidable opponent.
"Co on partner, you can’t give up now..." Her voice echoed, as she circled around .
Sighing cold smoke, I lowered my stance.
Co on these damned eyes of mine, see the attacks... see them!
Deflecting an attack, I pierced through an afterimage and got struck on the back.
"I win."
Raising my hands, I let go of my anger.
’Get angry damn it! How are you able to suppress such rage when you’re clearly pissed off about the fact that you’re far inferior!’
Slamming my fist against the force armor I sighed.
Copying , Alleus also slamd her fist against the steel padded parts of her battle suit and chuckled.
A thump then slightly vibrated in my heart.
What is this feeling?
Putting the unnecessary thoughts to the side, I went to take a drink.
I made the dragon scales armor stay within a bracelet form so that I don’t beco overly reliant on it.
"We’ve gotten pretty strong, I’m sure master Index would be proud of us..!" Alleus said.
"Yeah, but he would also say that you should work on your leg muscles. Don’t think that I didn’t notice your legs shaking after the spar." I chuckled.
"I guess I didn’t hide it as well as I thought. Any updates on the novel?"
Staring up in the sky, I shook my head.
"No, it’s still saying that Incus is being healed and that’s it’s going to continue for a few days."
"Anyways, I wonder how the other two are doing."
Staring at Vertere and Lieur, they were diligently sparring, using their martial arts. Because of Vertere’s weak physicality, he was always losing but he did get better. If he keeps going at this rate, he’ll be strong enough to beat the old ... the
when I gained consciousness and learned the truth of this world.
Tossing beef jerky at the two, Lieur caught the at and gave the other to Vertere.
"You two have improved quite a lot, keep up the good work."
We’ve made a training regint where we would teach Lieur and Vertere martial arts in the morning then we’d focus on our individual training after, once it’s late afternoon we would then spar.
"Thanks captain, how about you check my status and see how much stronger I’ve gotten."
"W-what?" I stumble back.
"We know that you have an ability to see stuff about our physical state and our skills, because how else would you manage to give us stuff that we would need." Alleus pressed her finger on my chest, pushing
back.
"...I have no clue what you’re talking about..." I mumbled.
"Oh don’t play dumb captain, we’ve already caught wind of what you can do ever since we were the hallway of Incus’ chamber."
Nodding Vertere stepped towards Lieur who was drinking a warm cup of coffee and whispered sothing into her ear, in the next mont, Vertere’s expression gave an understanding look.
With a sigh, I pushed Alleus’ finger off of my chest.
"Looks like you’ve caught ... I’m not sure if you’d believe
if I told you how I was able to tell your conditions."
Giving
a condescending look, Alleus shook her head.
"You’ve already told us that we’re in a novel, did we believe you? Yes, we did. So just tell us already."
Looking at the other two, they nodded.
"Alright, well I have this thing called a system which shows your physical prowess into the form of numbers... for example, Vertere has a mana level of four. Ah right, you don’t know what it looks like."
Grabbing a stick, I began drawing down what it looked it.
"It shows what skills you have, with basic information such as your na, class, and yaddy yadda."
Staring daggers at , Alleus asked:
"What do you an by ’and yaddy yadda’."
I should’ve kept that to myself.
"You know, stuff like your equipnt and weapons."
Seemingly dissatisfied, she took off her eye patch and continued:
"Go on..."
Damn, she’s using the eye to gauge my future reactions.
"I can see the backstory that the author gave you."
Lieur then dropped her cup of coffee into the ground.
"So you exploit our pasts to recruit us, I’m shocked captain. I didn’t know how much of a scumbag you are, maybe if you gave
sothing, I would forget about it—"
"Kraken." Summoning the octopus blob, I threw it at Lieur.
"Weeeee!"
Catching Kraken, she said:
"Well then, I think we’ve resolved things."
"Well I’m not! This is an invasion of privacy and I demand to know what my backstory wrote!" Vertere stepped forward in fury.
"Basically everything you know already, but the author did note to kill you off to reduce the amount of characters in the novel."
"Oh." Vertere stepped back.
"So is there anything else that you’d like to know?" I asked.
"No, just make sure you don’t hide anything from us anymore."
Pulling my hair back, I replied:
"Alright."

Walking away separately, we went to do our pwn thing.
Vertere went to continue studying, Lieur honed her skills, and Alleus went to look for more potions.
As for , I had made a makeshift practice dummy, which I used to improve my skills.
My one ard swordsmanship improved but I had to completely change my approach on shifting my body weight.
I had to lean back my body to counter the weight of the blade, but when I use the dragon scales armor to strengthen my arm, I didn’t really need to. But I also learned that I can only strengthen a limb four tis a day, each ti lasting about five minutes.

After a few days of the sa routine, Lieur yelled:
"Incus is awake!"
Glancing up at the novel, it wrote:
┌─────═━┈┈━═─────┐
[Chapter 128: Scar that just won’t leave]
...
This continued on for countless days.
***
Waking up, Steinen had already prepared a al for her.
"You should eat sothing my lady, you haven’t satiated your hunger in days."
Raising an eyebrow, Incus took the bowl of soup.
"You couldn’t get
anything tastier."
"Eating sothing soft will be much easier to digest." Steinen shook his head.
After finishing the al, Incus dropped a few coins to the sleeping Saint and went outside.
_
└─────═━┈┈━═─────┘
Shooting an arrow on fire in the sky, Alleus and Vertere quickly ran back.
"I saw the signal, she’s awake?"
Pointing at a familiar sight of a hero with long black hair appearing out of a corner, everyone tilted their heads.
"Does everyone have what they need?" I asked.
"Yeah." The three of them said in unison, except for Lieur who added a "Captain."
