Chapter 33: 127
With a wide smile appearing on my face, my voice box didn’t let
speak because of the sheer pain I was under.
"Light... it’s light...!" My voice was raspy and scratchy.
Looking at
with disbelief, Vertere shook his head.
"I don’t know how to use light magic!" Vertere Shouted.
"You... must..."
Biting his lip, he sat down cross-legged.
"I’ll do what I can, but hold on until then. Magic is very complex and theory-based, so I mustn’t be disturbed."
Coughing out blood, I put my hand around my neck.
Standing up, I raised the Fire Hero’s Sword.
There was a wave of shadows circling around us.
Lieur was using the shepherd’s sling to wrap around the shadows’ limbs and weapons, redirecting their aim elsewhere.
Kraken was also helping her, using its tentacles to steal the weapons of the shadows.
Struggling, I swung the sword at the shadows, my strength almost diminished.
I should use the scales to strengthen myself, but what if sothing happened where I would truly need it?
Growing in size, a shadow raised its massive fist and slamd it downward.
"Glurgh." Blood poured from Vertere’s eyes, ears, and mouth as his veins grew visible in a shade of blue.
Despite her injuries, Alleus crawled toward him and pulled out a mana potion from inside her pouch. She must have had so extra on hand.
His veins then steadily went back to normal.
"Don’t... push... yourself..."
Pointing at sothing behind , I narrowly avoided a killing blow to my head.
Swinging my sword, I pushed them back.
A shadow then made the others stand back. It was yet again my shadow.
Seeing my pitiful state, it made an expression that soured
on it.
"Don’t... mock—"
Barely blocking a sudden punch, I stepped back.
Seeing that the shadow didn’t pull out its sword, it must have wanted to fight
hand to hand.
Raising my fists, I spat out a glob of blood.
"Grah!"
Desperately throwing an uppercut, the shadow dodged and threw a downward overhand punch straight into my face.
"Argh...!"
Gritting my teeth, I continued my barrage of punches, and each ti I was t with a swift counter.
I must not fall yet.
Lowering my center of gravity, gripping the ground with my toes, my back foot pivoted alongside my body as I twisted back to throw a punch forward.
Seeing a punch flying my way to intercept my attack, I pulled my head down to the side, dodging the attack, and gritted my teeth.
Sinking my fist into the shadow’s face, it was sent sliding back a few distances.
"Ha... ha... ha..." What did you think of that, you bastard? Now stay down.
"Captain, we just need to hold on a little longer. Vertere seems to be entering a breakthrough!"
Quickly glancing over at our mage, an orb in front of him began to take shape, slightly glowing with the shining light that Incus glead.
Alleus seed to be continuing to bleed despite the dragon scales being tightly wrapped around her, but she wasn’t the only one. I could feel my strength diminishing with every second. The wound from Shadow Incus was too severe to be closed off.
With hazy vision, I watched as the sea of shadows continued to approach. It looked like they weren’t listening to my copy anymore. These smart bastards must have caught a glimpse of what was happening.
Rising up on pillars made of darkness, multiple copies of Vertere pointed their wands.
Damn it. They were trying to stop him from conjuring light magic.
Raising the Fire Hero’s Sword, I instinctively knew that if I used ExcaliBurn, I wouldn’t have enough mana to sustain myself.
Instead, I opted for a different option. Transferring mana to reinforce the Fire Hero’s Sword, I forced my vision to go clear.
"Scales... make sure... I don’t lose grip... of the sword..." The dragon scales then wrapped themselves around my hand and the handle of the blade.
Blocking a downward slash from an axe, I was forced into a squatting position.
Deflecting the axe to the side, I pushed the shadow away with the poml of the sword.
But a spear then stabbed into my bicep.
"Urgh!"
Kicking the shadow away, I deflected another attack.
Every ti I redirected an attack, my body would wobble in that direction. I didn’t have the energy to make myself more grounded.
Widening my eyes, a great sword slashed upward, sending
into the air. It was a copy of Steinen.
Falling harshly onto the ground, the sound of cracking bones was loudly evident. Seeing the shadows walk past , I bit one of their legs.
[Pain tolerance has improved.]
Please, Vertere. Hurry up.
I didn’t want to die.
Using her body, Lieur took the blows of all the attacks.
"Nooo!" Alleus cried.
Just when Vertere was about to be decapitated, a blinding bright flash of luminescent light engulfed the darkness.
"Luminous!"
He’d done it.
Vertere had comprehended light.
Soon, the light disappeared.
Looking around, the shadows seed cautious of stepping closer.
However, Vertere then began coughing violently in the next mont. Rushing to him, I dug into the unconscious Alleus’ bag for any mana vials left, but there was nothing.
Pulling the bracelet off his wrist, I put it on Lieur, sapping her mana.
"What are you doing, Captain...?" She stumbled with her steps.
Putting it back onto Vertere’s wrist, he returned to normal.
Standing up, Vertere pointed his wand.
"No shadow shall step any closer. You rotten demons will et your end."
Pointing his wooden wand upward, multiple orbs of light appeared in the crimson sky.
"Falling Daybreak."
Flashing, the light then began shooting beams of rays.
Running away, the shadows tried to escape for their lives.
"Hahaha! Yes, run away!"
Swiping his wand like a conductor, the orbs of light disappeared, and the shadows had dwindled considerably.
Incus was also using the techniques from Radeius, wiping out shadows in bulk.
Falling to his knees, Vertere smiled manically.
"Looks like I’m spent."
Falling face flat on the ground, the mage passed out.
Picking up Alleus, Lieur carried Vertere. We moved closer to the walls since Incus had soon turned the crimson sky back to its original color.

[Chapter 127: Shining Brightly]
...
Combining both the Light and Lightning Hero’s Swords, Incus utilized Thousand Spear Sky to swiftly get rid of the shadows, and within a matter of seconds, the demon army of shadows had disappeared.
The sky went back to being blue.
Seeing this, Steinen marched and pushed the giant steel gate with nothing but his bare hands.
Upon opening, the saint and multiple field workers rushed to aid those in dire conditions and set up tents to put them in.

As I carried Alleus, my strength completely disappeared.
"Huh...?" Collapsing to the ground, I passed out and dropped Alleus in the process.
Blinking back into consciousness, Lieur was dragging both
and Alleus, and Vertere was on her shoulders.
Lifting my hand, I muttered:
"Scales... strengthen Lieur."
