Chapter 31: 126 (2)
Pulling out her blade, the shadow of Incus kicked
to the ground.
"Scales, wrap around my abdon." Shortening in length, the scales tightened and stopped the bleeding. But it wasn’t going to last forever.
Picking myself up, Alleus was already battling against Shadow Incus.
Mouthing sothing, the shadow slashed down and a dark fla shot out.
Dodging out of the way, Alleus leapt back.
"Are you good, partner?"
Rubbing against the scales wrapped around , I nodded.
"...Yeah, I’m alright."
"I can pull up a water do, just pull back, you fools!" Vertere protested.
"No, you must save your mana. She can just quickly destroy it..."
Stabbing the steel blade into the ground, I pulled down Alleus’ eyepatch, covering her eye.
"I’m sorry for what I’m about to do."
Looking at my hand, I pushed Alleus toward Vertere and Lieur.
"On second thought, put up a barrier."
Looking at
with disbelief written all over her face, she tried grabbing my hand by extending an arm.
"Water do." A spherical barrier of water shrouded over the three of them.
"W-wait, Ring, what about you!" Alleus slamd her fist against the water.
Shaking my head, I pulled the steel sword from the ground.
"Let
handle this."
Being this selfless could get
killed, but everyone except Alleus was currently a liability. Even Alleus seed sapped of energy. She had used up all of her recovery potions.
Pulling out all of the recovery potions from my pouch, I drank them.
The pain in my abdon and lower back eased a little bit, but a small trickle of blood continued to escape.
"Scales... strengthen ." Spreading around my entire body, a surge of strength pulsed through .
"Co at , you bastards." Not only was the shadow of Incus in front of , but also mine, Alleus’, Lieur’s, and Vertere’s, along with the rest of the army’s.
Jumping forward, I took the initiative to strike first. I mustn’t let the hero’s shadow get closer to the do of water behind .
Deflecting my sword strike with imnse strength, I felt my bones shiver.
This shouldn’t be possible. I had a slight edge over her in physical capabilities with the strengthening of the Dragon Scales Armor.
Despite the fact that we both had advanced sword technique, my strength failed in comparison.
Gripping the sword firmly, I unleashed a barrage of sword slashes. And every ti, I was t with a rciless deflection.
Lowering my body into a running start, I ran in circles around Shadow Incus and slashed down at its head.
Turning its entire body to face , I was then hit in the chest with the poml of the copy of a hero sword.
Being sent flying back, I rolled on the ground and quickly stood up.
Sensing countless gazes behind , I swung my sword, pushing back a few shadows.
"You guys want a piece of this too?"
Glancing at the shadow of Incus, it was slowly approaching the others.
"Looks like our party will be cut short."
Squatting down, I leapt forward just above shadow Incus and quickly slashed at its face.
Shattering my sword, it then grabbed my ankle and slamd
downward.
"Argh!"
Lifting
into the air, it continued to slam
into the earth.
Blinking in and out of consciousness, I looked toward Alleus.
"...Don’t die!" she scread.
Finally letting go of , I limped toward the shadow, tucked my hand under its arm, and threw it back. Of course, it wasn’t sent back by a lot, just a few inches at most.
"You... shall... not... pass..!"
Pulling out the Fire Hero’s Sword, I stabbed it toward her.
"Excali... Burn!"
Instead of an arc of fla, a cloud of fire exploded in front of , the skin on my hand burning before lting.
Falling back to my knees, I watched as Shadow Incus followed up with an arc of fla.
Gritting my teeth, I swung my sword sideways.
"ExcaliBurn!"
A wave of black and normal fla clashed against each other, but the black fla quickly engulfed my fla before exploding.
Standing next to Shadow Incus was my shadow.
The two of them summoned an arc of fla in the shape of a cross.
"ExcaliBurn..! ExcaliBurn..!"
Stopping their attack, I felt my body grow heavier.
"Mana fatigue already...?"
But it was quickly washed away. It seed that the bracelet had filled up my mana pool.
[Jade bracelet (Mana: 20/35)]
Picking up the shattered steel blade, I ran forward and fought both shadow Incus and my shadow.
The scaled armor stopped
from receiving any wounds, but I still felt the blunt force of the attacks. My shadow copy jumped back as the scales’ armor around it wrapped around its body.
No way. It was using strength too? It was just a matter of ti, anyway. But this demon raid better end soon.
Getting pushed back, the Fire Hero’s blade shook with every clash.
Just hold on. We’ll get through this.
Glancing to my left, the shadow of Alleus had joined in, attempting to run around
to attack.
Jumping back, I drank the last remaining potions I had.
Stomping on the ground, I swung the sword with all my strength.
"ExcaliBurn!"
Pushing them back with fire, I slid across the ground and swept the feet of Shadow Incus, causing her to fall. Taking the opportunity, I thrust down at it.
"Damn."
Shadow Alleus and my shadow stopped the blade mid-strike.
Despite the fact that no physical attacks could kill them, they still chose to protect their own.
Stepping back, I wiped the sweat falling down my face.
Dispersing, the scales of the dragon armor went back to their cloaked form. The scales wrapped around my abdon still remained.
"Scales, stre—!"
Grabbing
by the mouth, Shadow Incus slamd
into the ground.
"Mrrgh!"
Standing over , the other shadows raised their blades.
Biting the shadow’s hand, I closed my eyes and looked away.
After a few monts, I felt nothing.
Opening my eyes, Steinen’s back faced . He had pushed back the shadows. It seed that he was written to aid the remaining soldiers.
"Stand tall, warrior. Your soul is strong."
With that, he dissipated into the void of shadows, pushing back the pitch-black army.
Breathing heavily, I smiled in gratitude.
"Thank you, author, for not forgetting about the rest of the army."
—SPLASH
Turning behind , the do of water had fallen.
"Shit!"
Running toward them, I bashed into the shadows.
"You guys, are you okay?"
"We’re fine, but Vertere seems to be having a hard ti breathing." Alleus held our mage in her hands.
—Weeee...
Kraken gently caressed his face with its soft tentacles.
Pulling off the jade bracelet, I forced it onto his wrist.
"Don’t fall on
yet, you bastard."
Softly punching my face, he grinned.
"Who are you calling a bastard, you rotten bastard?"
It seed the jade bracelet had restored his mana pool.
"Ha, you should keep that bracelet. A gift from ."
"Captain, we’re surrounded." Lieur pulled out a throwing dagger.
Looking around, there was nothing but shadows as far as the eye could see. All of a sudden, flakes fell down on the battlefield of darkness, followed by an icicle glacier.
"Just last as long as possible."
—Wee! Wee!
Kraken waved in excitent.
"Alleus, make sure you don’t trip."
"Just don’t get stabbed again, partner." She pulled up her white eyepatch, revealing a burning crimson-purple pupil.
The shadows then lunged at us.
Lifting the blade of the sword, I saw my face reflected on its flat face. I clashed with multiple shadows as Alleus made sure that the shadows from the other side wouldn’t get near the other two.
Kicking a shadow, I threw the shattered steel sword at a shadow’s hand that was reaching for Lieur.
Seeing that Vertere was about to cast a spell, I yelled at him:
"Not yet! Don’t waste your mana!"
Stepping to the side, I jumped in the air and did a front thrust kick to a shadow’s head, causing it to topple and a domino effect where the shadows behind it fell as well.
Getting grabbed by Alleus, her glove glowing with the embroidery of a lotus, she threw
at a group of shadows that had gotten just a little too close for comfort to the other two.
Landing low on the ground, I jumped up and clashed with shadows, eventually pushing them back.
"Alleus!" Vertere’s voice screeched.
She was skewered multiple tis.
Damn it!
Running toward her, I tripped on an uneven part of the ground.
"Argh!" A sharp pain then penetrated the back of my leg.
"Tidal wave and water jet!" Vertere pushed back the shadows looming over
with a jet of water and the shadows that had stabbed Alleus with a wave of water.
Crawling toward Alleus, I looked at her wounds.
"Scales, stop her bleeding." Wrapping around her, the scales tightened their grip around her entire torso. The Dragon Scales Armor’s size shortened considerably.
"Please..." Looking up at the draft being written, my heart thumped rapidly as I tried searching for anything that could save us.
Anything. Just a small weakness. It didn’t matter. Just please, author... Make Incus win already.
