Hansen didn’t say much, if soone can handle the internal team issues better than him, then that person can only be Lue.
"By the way, Jason is different from Cowley, he just has a bit of a childish temper." Lue ntioned Tatum proactively.
Hansen couldn’t help but touch his chin and look at Lue.
The tone of Lue’s words just now was obviously different from before.
Hmm, it didn’t sound like a coach’s evaluation of a player, but more like an elder to a younger generation.
Seeing Hansen’s gaze, Lue imdiately explained: "Jason is my nephew, a distant one."
Hansen was directly stunned this ti.
Tyronn Lue is Tatum’s uncle?
This is really the first ti he heard about it!
Even though it’s distant, this blood relation is only slightly weaker than the father-son relationship between Rivers and Little Rivers.
"Tyronn, I don’t want to be any real King, whether it’s Cowley or Jason, as long as they can do what they should on the court, I won’t have any opinion of them. My only goal is to lead this team to win." Hansen said seriously after putting his hand down.
This is also the reason why Hansen only targeted Stan and not Tatum.
"I understand." Lue also nodded again.
Actually, what Hansen is doing looks sowhat similar to what Jas did with the Cavaliers back then, and it’s indeed easy to misunderstand, but in fact, Hansen’s goal is completely different from Jas’s.
Jas ensured his absolute status in the team, while Hansen is for winning.
If Stan really challenged him like he did back then, he would be very happy.
After all, that would show people that his ability to directly kick Stan out of the training facility is not rooted in any powers in the Kings, but in his strong court skills.
A few days later, Stan returned to the starting lineup.
Of course, it wasn’t through challenging Hansen, but by being persuaded by Lue.
Also before putting Stan back into the starting lineup, Lue talked to Hansen about Stan’s current mindset.
Stan has a high spirit, he always felt that his talent is no less than Cousins’s.
But after being picked by the Kings, he was completely raised in a free-range way, not to ntion the developnt direction, even his playing ti wasn’t guaranteed.
His average on-court ti in his rookie first two years was 21 minutes and 19 minutes respectively.
He was the 6th pick in the 2015 draft, a year with a great class!
Cousins back then was only a 5th pick.
And yet, the successive coaches of the Kings, including now, only hoped he would beco a defensive blue-collar player, but he wanted to be a Cousins.
Lue’s approach was very simple as well, he promised to give him consistent starter-level playing ti and also to design so plays for Stan.
Actually, you could tell from Stan’s posterizing of Sabonis that his athletic talent is still explosive, and so pick-and-roll cuts would work very well.
Of course, all this is based on the premise that Stan can do what the coaching staff requires of him, first doing well on the defensive end.
An easy overlooked point is that Stan is facing a renewal issue earlier than this group of rookies, and the contract a pure blue-collar player can get is worlds apart from a top-class insider.
So he will definitely pursue data achievents.
Lue’s handling thod is the best aside from trading.
Of course, what happens next depends on Stan’s performance specifically. If Stan still goes on his own way, then it will be Chris Wallace’s turn to show his capability.
