After Mu Yiliang took her seat, she realized that Yan Sijue was directly across from her.
The dishes were all exquisite, but she didn’t have much of an appetite. She forced herself to eat a few bites before putting down her chopsticks. To be honest, no one at the table seed interested in the food, which was a pity given the expensive ingredients.
Gu Benhong was still discussing market trends and various internet thoughts with Yan Sijue. Mu Yiliang caught snippets here and there but didn’t understand, so she gave up.
The other two executives chid in from ti to ti, while only Gu Qingqian played with his cup, looking a bit rebellious. Occasionally, when Gu Benhong asked for his opinion, he would smile and give a perfunctory response.
He seed just like a sulking child... Mu Yiliang sighed inwardly. Boss Gu probably felt a bit frustrated having to deal with such a rebellious youngster.
Yan Sijue rarely spoke, only occasionally offering supplents.
Whenever he did speak, Gu Benhong’s eyes lit up as though he had received so great enlightennt.
Mu Yiliang didn’t think Gu Benhong was deliberately exaggerating. Yan Sijue’s achievents were enough to prove that his vision and scope were unmatched. A few extra words with this man would certainly be beneficial.
But she was just soone in tech...
While Mu Yiliang was lost in thought, Gu Benhong suddenly called out to her.
"Lady Mu, could you pour a glass of wine for President Yan?"
Mu Yiliang raised her eyebrows slightly.
She felt a vague resistance to this request. Pouring wine wasn’t the issue; it was the implication behind Gu Benhong’s request, as if she was just a pretty face here to serve them.
Even though she held the lowest position among those present, why should she, soone who thrived on her technical skills, have to fawn over them?
While she hesitated, the man across from her softly chuckled.
"I wouldn’t dare trouble Lady Mu. I should be the one pouring wine for Lady Mu," he said as he stood up, walked over to her, and picked up the bottle of wine. "This vintage isn’t particularly rare here, but it’s worth a taste. Lady Mu, you should try it."
With that, he carefully poured a small half glass of red wine for Mu Yiliang.
The room fell silent, with only the sound of wine being poured breaking the quiet.
"Please enjoy," he said softly, his breath lingering near her ear.
Mu Yiliang instinctively looked up, eting his gaze. His eyes were intensely dark, as if they could draw her in at any mont.
Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated!
"...Thank you," she said, quickly averting her eyes.
"You’re welco," Yan Sijue replied with a smile, returning to his seat and pouring a bit more wine for the sowhat dumbfounded Gu Benhong.
Gu Benhong jumped up imdiately to stop him, a mix of shock and excitent on his face. "You shouldn’t! You are our esteed guest!"
"Mr. Gu, after all, you are my senior, and you deserve this glass," he replied with a faint smile, finally filling Gu Benhong’s glass.
Gu Benhong was imnsely thrilled!
Earlier, although Yan Sijue’s deanor was not exactly aloof, it was certainly not warm. Gu Benhong dared not have any complaints, but for Yan Sijue to lower himself like this granted him a considerable amount of face.
Thus, another round of toasts began.
Amidst the clinking of glasses, Mu Yiliang caught sight of the man’s smiling expression, and a strange thought suddenly arose in her mind.
Did the man know about her reluctance earlier, which prompted him to stand up and help her out?
It seed unbelievable, but she inexplicably felt certain.
