S City, Fengye Group Headquarters Building.
As soon as it was quitting ti, the office that had been quiet all afternoon suddenly beca lively.
Mu Yiliang checked the code she had just written one last ti, confird there were no bugs, nodded with satisfaction, and shut down her computer.
Ti to clock out and go ho!
Xiao Chen, from the desk next to hers, spun his chair around to her and cleared his throat: "Yiliang, we’re going karaoke after work. Care to join us?"
Mu Yiliang smiled and shook her head: "No thanks, I have to go ho and cook for my son. You guys have fun!"
With that, she picked up her bag and left the office.
A bunch of programrs imdiately gathered around Xiao Chen, their eyes still fixed on Mu Yiliang’s departing figure.
"Rejected again?"
"She said she has to go ho and cook for her son..."
"That’s her excuse every ti!"
A few single programrs wailed in despair! It was hard enough for their departnt to get a beautiful woman, and it turns out she’s already a mother of a seven-year-old, which was one thing, but she doesn’t interact with them at all outside of work, not giving them any chance!
Every day, they could only sneak a glance at her as they passed by on their way to fill their water bottles or use the restroom.
"The kid is already seven? I just can’t believe it..." Xiao Chen, who sat next to Mu Yiliang, was the object of everyone’s envy and jealousy, but he didn’t feel lucky at all. His eyes would glance sideways thousands of tis a day, but Mu Yiliang never looked at him even once!
"Could it be she made this all up? Have any of you actually seen her son?" one person asked suddenly.
The others looked at each other, their eyes suddenly lighting up!
A married male colleague, unable to bear it any longer, poured cold water on their fantasies: "Stop daydreaming! Even if she made up the story about having a son, since she said it, it ans she has zero interest in any of you!"
"Not necessarily. Maybe she’ll be moved by my sincerity!" Xiao Chen retorted confidently.
"Give it a rest! Look at yourself!" the others imdiately taunted him rcilessly.
Xiao Chen blushed, cursing at them one by one in return!
The laughter and banter finally settled down after a while, and those who needed to work overti did, while those who finished their work packed up and went ho.
...
Fengye Group is one of the top internet companies in the country, with tens of thousands of employees registered. Mu Yiliang joined at the beginning of the year and has been there for over half a year now. With her qualifications and experience, handling this ordinary programr role was quite easy.
She wasn’t oblivious to the discussions the single male colleagues had about her in private, but she didn’t mind. So on her first day at the company, she found an opportunity to openly express that her son was already seven years old and in the second grade.
For their invitations, going ho to take care of her son was her best excuse to decline.
But she wasn’t lying; at this mont, she really had to go to the nearby elentary school to pick up Xiaoze. That kid was very frustrated about starting primary school with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, but Mu Yiliang, despite his objections, resolutely sent him to school.
Staying ho all day at such a young age playing gas and writing programs—what’s that supposed to be like? Besides, her inco was enough to support him!
Thinking of how every ti she picked him up from school, her son had a face full of resentnt, she couldn’t help but be amused and exasperated.
Her son being so difficult certainly wasn’t inherited from her!
He must have gotten it from that kid’s biological father!
Although she had completely forgotten who that kid’s biological father was.
