Yan Sijue lifted his head, his expression unchanged, "Grandfather, why do you ask this?"
"Don’t take for a fool!" Old Sir Yan snorted, "You still resent , don’t you? Because back then, when Yaoting and the others did those things to you, I didn’t deal with them, you’ve harbored this resentnt all along. Last ti, when the driver betrayed you, you suspected it was your uncle’s doing, and so you’ve been thinking of revenge. Simply destroying FIS wouldn’t satisfy you, would it? That’s why you’re adamant about severing ties with the Yan Family, it’s part of your plan, isn’t it?"
Yan Sijue smiled faintly, "Couldn’t that very well be my aim?"
Old Sir Yan looked at him gloomily, saying nothing for a long ti.
Yan Sijue calmly averted his gaze, "I’m sorry to disappoint you, but that is indeed my aim, I simply don’t want to be a Yan Family mber, not even for a second. I have no plans for revenge, nor any hidden agendas."
Old Sir Yan snorted, "You’re just an ungrateful wretch!"
Yan Sijue rely smiled, "If that’s what you think, so be it. You know well enough the environnt I grew up in, do you really think I’m soone who repays kindness?"
Old Sir Yan held back his emotions, still unwilling to relent, "Why, in the end?"
If Yan Sijue hated him, hated the Yan Family, and sought revenge, he could understand. But to simply want to detach from the Yan Family, he couldn’t accept it!
Yan Sijue paused, then suddenly looked directly at Old Sir Yan, smiling, "Do you really want to know?"
"Don’t try to gloss over it!"
"I’m afraid you’ll regret knowing." Yan Sijue remained calm.
Old Sir Yan snorted, "Regret? The only regret I have in this life is taking you out of that Ghost Market place, if I’d known, I’d have let you rot in there!"
The accumulated authority of Old Sir Yan weighed down, and no one in the Yan Family could remain calm under such a tone. But only Yan Sijue, always excessively calm regardless of the situation.
Because it had been this way for so many years, Old Sir Yan had almost ignored this fact. Now he suddenly realized, from the very start, this grandson never regarded him highly, much less with respect, and this realization infuriated him!
Old Sir Yan looked at him with a sullen face.
In his life, he had never feared anyone’s moves, so he wanted to see just what contingency this boy had buried to make him regret!
"Grandfather." Yan Sijue smiled faintly, "At this point, I might as well be direct. The assassination attempt I encountered over a month ago, wasn’t it under your orders?"
Old Sir Yan’s expression didn’t change; instead, he sneered, "You’ve indeed found a good excuse for your selfishness and coldness."
"Even if I am truly selfish and cold, I inherited it from you." Yan Sijue’s lips curled slightly, "There’s no need for you to say those dignified words in front of , I know you’ve never regarded as part of the Yan Family. My brothers, no matter whether they pleased you or not, no matter how outrageous their actions, you would punish them but always consider them your descendants, never thinking of harming them. But when it cos to , you’ve always wished for my death."
"Oh?" Old Sir Yan sneered slightly, "So that’s the reason? Yan Sijue, aren’t you too conceited? You’re just an illegitimate child. If I really wanted to do sothing to you, would I have gone through the trouble of bringing you back and raising you? If I truly wanted to tornt you, I have countless ways to do it!"
"Indeed." Yan Sijue laughed softly, "I’ve always wondered, if that’s the case, why did you bother to bring back?"
