Chapter 1266: Chapter 938, Are You My Aunt?_2

“I understand.” The man said directly.

He opened the door and saw the grilled fish and flatbread on the tray at the entrance.

After inspecting the empty hallway and confirming no one was around, he brought the breakfast back into the room.

The mont he turned, his pupils contracted.

Inside the room, a figure had mysteriously appeared wearing a hood, mage robe underneath, and Ink Scale Armor on the outside.

“You…”

Crack~!

The sound of a snapping neck echoed alongside a ghostly scream.

The man’s neck was instantly twisted like a pretzel; his breakfast scattered across the floor, while the ghostly ‘madam’ was suspended mid-air.

She struggled desperately but couldn’t break free.

“Who are you?” The madam tried to guess but still questioned skeptically.

“We t at the banquet. Did you forget so soon?” Wu Heng removed his hood.

“Wu Heng!”

It was indeed him. The ghost still looked shocked.

After speaking, she began to struggle violently once more.

Glenda’s figure erged, “Don’t bother. At Level 16, you can’t escape.”

The ghost’s eyes widened, looking at the second ghost who had suddenly appeared.

“Exactly, you can’t run away, wicked woman,” Xiao Xiao said, appearing next.

Bella asked, “How should we deal with her?”

The ghost looked at the triangle they ford as one appeared after another, her expression growing more astonished.

Souls can sense each other, but she felt absolutely nothing beforehand.

The youngest human hero, surrounded by three ghosts of terrifying levels—what kind of monster was this?

Wu Heng asked curiously, “Do we have a vendetta?”

The ghost said coldly, “A mortal vendetta.”

“Did I kill you?” Wu Heng gave her another look.

When ghosts retain intelligence after death, their original appearance and features often remain the sa.

Looking at this soul, he had no recollection whatsoever.

Unless she had been a pirate or was killed during chaotic combat where he hadn’t noticed her.

“But my friends and kin died at your hands. Tell , should I kill you or not?” The ghost asked solemnly.

“From your perspective, seeking revenge does seem reasonable. By the sa logic, killing you would also make sense, right?” Wu Heng retorted.

The ghost narrowed her eyes, her gaze flicking down to the corpse on the floor with a twisted neck. “I planned everything. Now that you’ve caught , I accept my fate. That man was just following orders. You’re a hero of the association; save him if you can.”

“You won’t live either, so don’t bother bargaining.” Wu Heng picked up the Demon Soul Pot next to him, drawing her soul directly into the pot with necromantic power.

He then grabbed the blanket nearby, wrapped up the corpse on the floor, and stored it in the Space Ring.

Wu Heng began searching the cabin further, while Xiao Xiao hovered nearby and asked, “Uncle, are you going to take her back and hand her over to the Holy Court?”

“Handing her over to the Holy Court might not be a good idea,” Wu Heng said.

Glenda added, “I think handing her to the association would be better. The association is more impartial; they’d prove your actions were justified.”

Bella nodded, “Exactly. What if the Holy Court refuses to admit the truth and blas us instead? That would be disastrous.”

“Fair point.” Wu Heng searched the room thoroughly and confird there were no special items before opening the door and leaving.

He boarded the Flying Carpet and left the passenger ship.

Finding the nearest reef, he summoned the Phantom Train and returned to Netalee City.

At noon, the bells of Netalee City reverberated throughout.

Shanaela accompanied the Fifth Princess in the eting room of the city hall, waiting in silence.

At this mont, her phone rang.

Shanaela picked up, “Hello.”

Wu Heng’s voice ca from the other end, “Where are you?”

Shanaela replied, “I’m with the Fifth Princess at city hall, waiting for intel from the north.”

Last night, Wu Heng returned from the tavern and recounted what he’d discovered to the two won.

Among the items retrieved—a pair of boots and a belt—when tested with the Tracing Locket, they pointed north.

However, the other Special Item, the Soul Chasing Lantern, burned a strand of hair and pointed towards the sea.

After thinking for a mont, he felt the possibility at sea was more plausible.

After all, the ghost who disguised herself as the female priest had learned about his abilities, including the Tracing Locket. She likely anticipated its effect.

On the other hand, the Soul Chasing Lantern hadn’t been used before retrieving it.

Following this lead, Wu Heng pursued the sea route while the Fifth Princess dispatched a team to chase northward.

Wu Heng said, “I’ve captured them—co back.”

Hearing that the culprits were captured, Shanaela’s face lit up with delight. “Really? Even the ghost is caught?”

The Fifth Princess, beside her, widened her eyes and looked over.

“All caught,” Wu Heng confird.

Shanaela said, “We’ll send people to recall the northern team and return shortly ourselves.”

“Alright.” Wu Heng answered.

They ended the call.

The Fifth Princess still had her eyes wide open, her face full of anticipation. “Lord Island Master, you caught the culprit?”

Shanaela smiled and nodded, “Yes, and the ghost too.”

“Wow! Lord Island Master is so efficient!” The Fifth Princess marveled.

Shanaela’s face carried a touch of pride. “He’s always been efficient with such matters. Now that it’s settled, let’s send people to recall the northern teams.”

“Got it!” The Fifth Princess nodded and dispatched soone outside the city.

City Lord’s Mansion.

Wu Heng sat in his study, pouring himself a cup of tea.

The Three Ghosts floated nearby.

After resting with his tea, he brought out the Demon Soul Pot and opened the lid in the middle of the study’s empty space.

The ghost erged again the next mont, imdiately restrained by Glenda.

The ghost glared hatefully at them, letting out a cold snort.

Wu Heng curiously asked, “Who exactly did I kill of yours? Now that we’ve t face-to-face, there shouldn’t be any need to hide the truth.”

The Three Ghosts, equally curious, looked over.

This female ghost’s way of acting clearly differed from pirates or their kin.

Pirates only knew how to charge headfirst without reckoning.

The ghost didn’t answer, turning her head away again.

Wu Heng said, “No matter. Soon, I’ll hand you over to the Holy Court. They won’t treat ghosts like I do—as kindly.”

The ghost whipped her head back fiercely, gritting her teeth. “You deliver to the Holy Court? Then I’ll bite you to death! You’re the one who killed her.”

Still quite defiant.

But soon, the ghost began speaking, “Cleft Island—have you forgotten already?”

Wu Heng and the ghost both furrowed their brows.

Xiao Xiao exclaid in shock, “You’re my aunt…?”

The ghost froze, and Wu Heng and Glenda glanced at Xiao Xiao, imdiately understanding her implication.

Previously, Xiao Xiao had thought the Three-eyed Man was like a character from the cartoon ‘Chen Xiang,’ seeking his aunt. Now, she brought it up again.

Wu Heng’s brow tightened instantly, sensing that things were growing more complicated.

He asked, “Are you referring to the association mber who perished en route—or the Three-eyed Man on that island?”

“So it really was you who killed him,” the ghost said.

Wu Heng fell silent.

The artifacts retrieved from Cleft Island clearly had a direct connection to his world’s ancient past.

Now this ghost was claiming ties to the sa site.

Wu Heng spoke hesitantly, “Was he your husband then?”

“Nonsense! He was the commander guarding the site—what does he have to do with my husband?” the ghost barked.

Wu Heng continued questioning, “Were you brought out from the ruins too?”

“Hmph! Does it even matter? I won’t help you, and you’d better prepare for the Pope’s revenge!” the ghost said maliciously.

Wu Heng chose not to bicker further and instead stared at her silently.

If that were true, he truly couldn’t hand her over.

Even if she exonerated him.

Once the Holy Court obtained this ghost, they might unravel connections to his world.

Not just them—even the association mustn’t know of her existence.

The situation was becoming increasingly troubleso.
