Although the number of people in the team didn’t change, because Ye Rong joined, he chatted with this one for a bit, joked with that one for a while, and the atmosphere along the way was no longer as silent as before.

Xu Jia tied her hair up into a high ponytail, put on the cold white uniform of the Yun Family, and followed at the back of the team.

To deliver the dicine to the Northern Border as quickly as possible, they set out at first light and sought accommodation at an inn at dusk. If they found themselves in a place with no village ahead and no shop behind, they could only set up a tent to shield themselves from the wind and rain.

More than twenty disciples were divided into two shifts, one guarding the first half of the night, and the other guarding the second half, ensuring the safety of the dicinal materials at all costs.

Xu Jia, being a girl, wasn’t suited for staying up late, so the Yun Family disciples had her guard the first half of the night, while Ye Rong and half of the Yun Family disciples were responsible for the second half.

After enduring several nights, Xu Jia saw him looking very haggard and offered to switch with him.

Ye Rong refused no matter what, saying that he was a big man, and it would be disgraceful to let a girl take his place for the night watch.

Xu Jia didn’t argue with him; when it was ti to switch shifts in the second half of the night, she seized the opportunity to knock Ye Rong out with a hand chop and had the disciples in his shift take him inside to sleep.

That night, they set up tents in the grove, and on a cold spring night, the disciples made a fire.

After a few days, Xu Jia had beco familiar with most of them, and she sat by the fire to warm herself, occasionally joking with them.

Xu Jia thought of two people and asked them, "I heard that Yun Shisan and Yun Shiliu usually wouldn’t leave the Family Head’s side. Why didn’t they co this ti?"

The other disciples looked at each other after hearing this, their eyes a bit evasive, and stamred that those two had other important tasks, and the Family Head had sent them away.

Seeing that they were unwilling to tell the truth, Xu Jia didn’t ask any further. She was just curious for a mont, after all, it was an internal secret of the Yun Family, and as an outsider, she should not ddle.

Just after 1 a.m., it started to drizzle from the sky. The grove was already cold and dark, and the wind seeped into one’s pores, freezing them to the bone.

A disciple suggested going into the tent to avoid the rain.

Xu Jia hesitated, glancing at the boxes on the nearby carriages, "If we all go inside, what if sothing happens to the dicine?"

"Just move the boxes inside," suggested one of the disciples.

The rain grew heavier, and a few of them donned raincoats and started to act. Just as they picked up the boxes to bring them into the tent, a wolf’s howl sounded from a distance.

Xu Jia’s expression changed, "How could there be wolves in this place?"

Before entering the forest, they had carefully checked; there were so animals in the forest, but no wolf lairs.

These wolves must have co from afar; what was it that attracted them?

Xu Jia instinctively glanced at Yun Huai’s tent, inside which there was no light, clearly indicating they had gone to sleep early.

Unlike the other disciples in the tents, who were awakened by the sound of wolves howling and rushed out as quickly as possible.

The leader was Yun Feng, the senior brother of the group; he wore a raincoat, held a treasured sword, and frowned, "What’s going on?"

"It’s a pack of wolves, senior brother, we need to leave this place quickly, or things could get bad."

Under normal circumstances, this many people fighting a pack of wolves would be more than sufficient.

But unfortunately, it was raining tonight and the light was dim; facing the pack under these circumstances, there was absolutely no chance of winning.

"Senior brother, don’t hesitate, quickly report to the Family Head, we need to set off overnight."

Yun Feng stood still, his right hand clenching the sword at his waist tightly, and after listening to the urging of the disciples, he said in a deep voice, "We checked this place during the day; there’s no way there are wolves. Soone must have deliberately attracted them."

"It’s Bei Yan’s Hidden Guard!" gasped a prior disciple. "No wonder I was wondering why things went so smoothly along the way, they were waiting for us here."

"Don’t talk!" Yun Feng suddenly commanded, "Soone’s coming, prepare to fight."

As soon as he spoke, a dozen shadowy figures cloaked in raincoats appeared swiftly around the tents, each exuding a murderous aura.

"Not small fry, what grade of samurai are they?"

Ye Rong stretched lazily as he ca out, yawning along the way.

Yun Feng disapproved of his leisurely manner, furrowing his brow even deeper, "Whatever grade they are, just fight!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the disciples who had been moving the boxes continued to do so, while the rest quickly drew their swords and leapt forward to confront them.

In this rainy night battle, the sound of clashing palms and cold steel intensified the chill.

The branches that were struck fell around with a swishing sound, and a bloody scent was soon washed away by the rain.

Their opposition’s goal was to destroy this batch of dicine, so they split into two groups.
