“Is this Detective Zhang’s letter?” Mu Yuchen took the letter from her and asked.

Xi Xiaye nodded. “I went to visit his office a while back, but his door was closed and I couldn’t contact him at all. Then, yesterday morning, he suddenly ssaged and told to be careful. This letter and Detective Zhang’s secretive behavior made suspicious, but I couldn’t make a decision on my own, so I wanted you to return earlier.” Her tone sounded serious.

Mu Yuchen nodded and slowly opened the letter as Xi Xiaye went closer to take a look.

He took out the letter and glanced at it.

It was a printed letter, but there was a scrawled signature of “Zhang” at the bottom. Xi Xiaye recognized that it was Inspector Zhang’s signature. The letter was not very long. In fact, there was only one sentence:

‘There’s sothing else behind this. I’ll give you the answer in a month on the night before Christmas Eve in the field where we t previously. Part of the information is kept in the sa safe as before, and the password is the even numbers of my contact number.’

As the two of them traded glances, Xi Xiaye frowned. “A month? What is Detective Zhang doing now?”

“He should be abroad at the mont,” Mu Yuchen sounded confident as he said while looking at the letter.

“Abroad? How do you know?” Xi Xiaye was doubtful.

“When Li Si was investigating Doris’s immigration records, he noticed his na on it. he went to the UK,” he replied.

“The UK?” Se let her thoughts ran for a while. Then, she turned over and looked into Mu Yuchen’s eyes. “Doris?”

Mu Yuchen nodded. “Go and fetch the docunts tomorrow. You should know the password already, don’t you?”

Xi Xiaye grabbed his phone, opened his contacts, and saved Inspector Zhang’s number into it. “Yeap, this is his number. I’ve saved it on your phone.”

Mu Yuchen grabbed a lighter and flicked it before lighting the letter up. He then tossed the letter into a nearby dustbin, and the flas engulfed the piece of paper into ashes.

“It’s getting late now. Let’s go to sleep. I’m sure you’re tired. We...ah—”

He held her by her hips before she could finish her sentence. “Didn’t you say you were missing the excitent of a reunion? Let’s continue what we were doing before this.”

He walked out with her in his arms, and there was no way for Xi Xiaye to escape.

...

However, it seed like it was not a peaceful night.

It was past midnight when Su Chen returned ho. He took a quiet shower before returning to the bedroom where Ji Zitong was already asleep, but as usual, she had kept a light on for him.

Su Chen walked towards the bed quietly and snuck inside. He wrapped his arms around Ji Zitong and asked quietly, “Already asleep?”

Ji Zitong rubbed her eyes and yawned as she shared part of the blanket with him. “What took so long?”

“There were things to clarify. Are you feeling better already?” His hand started exploring underneath Ji Zitong’s garnts.

Su Chen did have a rough ti since he had to work abroad quite a while ago. Then, Ji Zitong returned to her parents’ ho when he ca back. After that, he had gone to New York, but Ji Zitong was on her period when he returned, so he lived like a Buddhist monk for so ti. Her cute, sleepy look was seductive enough to get him fired up.

Ji Zitong wondered for a mont what he ant, then she realized what he was trying to do when he climbed on top of her.

Su Chen was not the romantic type. His only approach in life was to be straightforward, Even during monts like this, he did not even try to say sothing romantic. Instead...

“Take your clothes off. Hurry!”

Ji Zitong rolled her eyes at him. Sotis, she could not fathom how he usually looked like a gentleman, but during their private monts...

Of course, Su Chen had no idea what his wife was thinking about. He actually started sharing so funny stories from his workplace as well as Ah Mo’s incident while they were doing the deed.

After several rounds, the sun was almost up, and the war finally stopped.

Just so ti after Ji Zitong fell asleep again, her phone started ringing and woke the both of them up. Her hand reached for her phone and tapped on the answer button. She sounded tired as she mumbled, “Hello?”

Su Chen went closer to her and gave her a gentle hug.

“Manager, bad news! The store suddenly caught fire, and it’s pretty bad. The firefighters are here. Please hurry over!”

Ji Zitong recognized her subordinate’s voice from her store. The store was on fire?

She woke up right away, unable to believe what she just heard. “What did you say? The store is on fire?”

“Yes, please hurry over right now. The two stores beside are catching fire too. Everyone is freaking out because we’re not sure if there’s anyone inside!” Her subordinate’s voice was shaking, and Ji Zitong could sense the unease within him.

She took a deep breath and comforted him, “Don’t worry. I’ll head over right away. Just wait for .”

She hung up on the call and quickly got out of bed, switching the lights on instantly.

“What’s the matter?” Su Chen sat up and noticed that she looked pale and uneasy.

“My store has caught on fire, and it sounds serious. I have to go and take a look.” Ji Zitong was worried as she went to the wardrobe and grabbed an outfit to change into.
