Before Cervic could respond, five more demons appeared out of nowhere, almost as though they had been teleported there, as they appeared out of the debris and dust raised.
"They arrived." Cauldrus said, looking at the demons.
Each one was just as powerful as the general Cervic had been fighting was.
The coalition forces stiffened before the show of might from the demons. They had expected a difficult battle, but now, they were outnumbered… though not literally, the number of those that could were of a similar strength to the generals were four in number, including Cervic. If they ganged up on the demons, then of course, that dynamic would vanish quickly.
The five demons spread out, each radiating a terrifying presence, signifying that The battle was no longer one against a single enemy.
Now, it was starting to resemble war.
Without needing to be told, Cauldrus stepped forward, followed by the most powerful dwarven king and a pair of dwarf and human kings.
The coalition's strongest warriors stood firm, their auras blazing against the oppressive darkness radiating from the demon generals' malicious energy. Each of them was just as strange as the first, their bodies and energy a strange grotesque mix depicting their monstrosities.
As they faced off against each other for a mont, it didn't take much longer before the battle erupted.
Cervic was the first to move, his giant black sword pulsing with an eerie light as he vanished from his position, reappearing high above the tentacle-necked demon, maintaining his focus. His blade cleaved downward in a blur of motion, a streak of black and white energy trailing behind. The demon reacted too slowly this ti. The sword cut through its raised arm with ease, severing it in a single stroke. Black blood sprayed into the air, evaporating from the sheer energy radiating from Cervic's weapon.
The demon grunted in pain, his eyes locking onto the sword, 'this sword…' he thought to himself.
Imdiately, his tentacles lashed out like whips, attempting to entangle Cervic mid-air, but he twisted his body, dodging with fluid motion. As he landed on the ground with a heavy thud, he swung his sword, releasing a crescent-shaped energy slash that carved a deep trench into the battlefield as it raced towards the demons, particularly targeting tentacled demon. The demon barely dodged in ti, its body trembling from the sheer force of the attack, clenching its arm that appeared to be writhing and regenerating.
At the sa ti, Cauldrus had also charged forward, raising a hand to the demons. In a rapid manner, frost spread through the air as crystalline ice spears ford above him, shimring with cold light. With the flick of his wrist, the spears launched toward the demons.
A massive, crimson-scaled demon wielding a curved black blade stepped forward, swinging its weapon, unleashing a wave of dark flas to counter. Even then, the ice spears tore through the fire like teors. They struck the demon's body with explosive force, sending shockwaves through the battlefield as they passed through him and struck the ground. Imdiately after, frost rapidly spread across its scales, forcing the beast to stagger backward, its movents sluggish as ice clung to its limbs, seeming to cause severe frostbite.
Cauldrus didn't appear to be pulling his punches at all, and was aiming to kill right off the bat without caring to test the opponents' strength first. Then again, since he already had an idea of how powerful they were, there was no need to go probing.
The dwarven kings didn't slack off either as they joined the fray next. The one taking the lead, a towering figure in dwarven terms, clad in gleaming silver armor, wielded a warhamr crackling with arcs of blue lightning as he charged towards the demons who at this point, were also charging forward.
One of the dwarves charging along with him jumped forward to block a great ball of fire spewed by the incoming demon, creating an opening for the armoured dwarve to attack. He leapt into the air from behind with a mighty swing, before he brought the hamr down onto the ground. The impact created a deafening boom as a surge of electricity erupted outward in a devastating wave.
Two other demon generals nearby were caught in the lightning's path, electrocuted violently as their bodies engulfed in streaks of blue lightning, halting their movents montarily. Unfortunately, the lightning did not select friend from foe, so it also t Cervic who was close by, but he appeared completely unaffected by the lightning.
The dwarf who had blocked the attack retracted his shield charging with his sword that was now afla, igniting the very air around him. With a powerful leap, he brought his weapon down in a devastating overhead strike, bearing it at a demon. The demon blocked with two of its arms, the force of the attack pushing him into the ground, flas spreading across its body. The demon didn't back down either, unleashing its attacks in retaliation.
Despite their monstrous strength, the demons struggled against their opponents. Cervic was a relentless force, his sword carving through demonic flesh that only kept regenerating. Cauldrus continued his barrage of ice magic, choosing to maintain his distance rather than engaging in close range combat.
The demon generals, once confident in their superiority, now faltered. Their movents beca sluggish under the relentless onslaught, their regenerative capability dwindling. One of them, a massive horned beast with dark flas licking across its body, attempted to retreat, or at least, he had turned his back to the fight, even though it could have been for a brief mont. Cervic saw the opening.
In an instant, Cervic closed the distance, appearing right in front of the demon. His sword pulsed with energy as he drove it forward, impaling the creature straight through the chest. The demon's glowing eyes widened in shock as its body convulsed, its eyes staring at CErvic and the sword.
'This again… how is a humanusing demonic energy?' The demon questioned in its head, but unable to speak more than grunts of pain.
With a powerful twist of his blade, Cervic ripped the demon in half, severing it in a nasty manner, the corpse falling to the ground, seemingly lifeless.
Following that, the demon generals saw themselves being ganged up on with one of them absent in the fight. Soon enough, they had been cut down one by one, their massive forms sprawled across the battlefield.
The battlefield fell silent for a brief mont, but just then when it all seed to be over, the corpses twitched.
A chilling aura filled the air as black mist seeped from the wounds of the fallen demons. It gathered like a thick fog, swirling around their bodies. The warriors instinctively stepped back, their expressions shifting from relief to alarm, intrigue.
One by one, the demon generals began to rise, their bodies contorting unnaturally, bones snapping back into place, wounds sealing as if they had never been injured.
The demon generals, whom they had cut down with overwhelming force, now stood once more. This ti even, sothing appeared different. A blatant telling tale was the abyssal glow in their eyes that burned fiercer than before, more visible, and an even heavier pressure seed to radiate from them.
Cervic tightened the grip on his sword as the ever present dark energy around him pulsed in response to the change in atmosphere. Cauldrus narrowed his eyes, a chilling realization setting in. The dwarven kings, who had just monts ago claid victory, now tensed as they prepared to fight once more, the course of battle against such opponents unknown.
Then, without warning, the demon generals moved.
The tentacle-necked demon who had first appeared let out a guttural roar, its body blurring as it shot toward Cervic like a black bolt of energy. The ground beneath it shattered and paved open from the force of its movent, tearing into it. Cervic barely had ti to react out of surprise before its clawed hand, now larger and covered in a grotesque exoskeleton that had grown from nowhere, slamd into him.
Cervic managed to still block the attack with his sword, but the sheer force sent him skidding back, his armored boots digging trenches into the ground as his body bent backwards montarily before he forced himself back. The demon wasted no ti, its tentacles lashing out in a flurry of strikes, each one strong enough to crush boulders and more. Cervic dodged and parried with precise movents, doing his best to avoid the strikes, he was only now adapting to the intensity from his enemy.
Leaping into the air, he spun his body mid-air, hurling several arcs of energy from his sword towards the enemy.
To his side, Cauldrus unleashed another barrage of ice magic, but this ti, the crimson-scaled demon he fought didn't flinch. It raised a hand, dark fire surging around its claws, and slashed through the ice spears as if they were nothing. The frozen magic shattered in mid-air, and through the mist that had ford, a wave of abyssal fire exploded toward Cauldrus. He imdiately erected a barrier of ice in ti, blocking the air, and adding more to prevent it from lting through. The sheer heat of the flas was lting through his defenses, forcing him back. It appeared as though, for the first ti in the battle, the Elven King had found himself struggling, but ice magic wasn't his only forte…
