Cervic noticed imdiately. His halberd that had just been drawing reasonable reaction from the demon lord now had began to lose its effectiveness.
Cervic however, didn't need to think it too deeply, as he expected this, after all, the demon lord was connected to the abyss, the source of the power he wielded. He stepped back, his grip tightening on his weapon.
The halberd trembled in his hands, as if reacting to his will, then, without warning, the abyssal energy vanished and the halberd's surface began to crack, in fact, it looked like the weapon itself was cracking.
The battlefield itself seed to exhale, the suffocating darkness disappearing in an instant. The halberd, once pulsing with abyssal power, now radiated a blinding, golden-white glow of light that burst forth.
Seeing it, the Demon Lord's expression changed, and the one thing that ca to the demon lord's mind was, 'Divine energy.'
Unlike the abyssal and dark energy, the divine energy was Pure, potent, and free of corruption.
The transformation of the weapon was instantaneous. The halberd, now radiating celestial might, humd with a presence that burned against the very air.
Cervic adjusted his stance, raising the halberd overhead. His voice, cold and unwavering, echoed across the battlefield.
"Let us continue."
The divine energy surged, growing brighter, hotter, overwhelming everything around it, and with it, Cervic prepared to strike the final blow.
…
Golden radiance flooded the battlefield, divine energy crackling through the air as the alliance warriors could barely process what they were witnessing.
Boom!
Cervic lunged., his halberd cutting through the air like a beam of light, slashing through the air with terrifying speed. The mont it connected, the Demon Lord raised his arm to block, but the sheer force of the attack sent him skidding back a couple tres.
For the first ti in this battle, the Demon Lord was truly defending, not just out of amusent, but because he had to. With each strike, his eyes glead with sothing unreadable as he studied Cervic.
"You truly are an anomaly," he murmured.
Cervic didn't respond. He didn't need to. His actions spoke louder.
With speeds incomprehensible for those watching, Cervic advanced again, closing the distance in a re instance. His halberd swung, an arc of divine destruction seeking to cleave through the abyssal entity before him.
CLANG!
The Demon Lord raised a blackened blade, conjured from his own abyssal energy, to parry the strike. Sparks erupted, accompanied by a shockwave that burst outward, sending debris flying in all directions.
Cervic did not relent, he twisted his weapon mid-air, redirecting the force into a downward strike. The Demon Lord shifted to evade, but…
BOOM!
The halberd crashed into the ground beside him, sending fissures tearing through the earth, the sheer impact creating a massive shockwave.
In that brief opening, with a burst of speed, Cervic closed the gap, his armored fist lashing out…
CRACK!
A direct hit on the demon lord's face, causing his head to snap to the side as the blow connected, sending him staggering.
The alliance forces watching from a distance felt a surge of hope. Even though most hadn't seen all that happened, that last part was clear, he was pushing back the Demon Lord.
A flurry of strikes followed. Each movent was precise, each swing of his halberd carrying the weight of both divine might and his own imnse strength, full of intent to kill.
This flurry of attacks forced the demon lord onto the defensive, his dark energy clashing with Cervic's every attack. Soon, a blast of abyssal energy erupted from his body, montarily forcing Cervic to pull back. His abyssal sword twisted into a spear, wreathed in black flas, and he struck back, forcing Cervic to block.
With a counter attack as a series of fighting, Cervic broke through with a powerful strike of his halberd, infused with divine might, that bypassed the Demon Lord's defenses, sending the Demon Lord crashing. His massive fra crashed into the ground, carving through rock and dirt, leaving a small pool sized crater in his wake.
Silence followed right after, no movent coming from the demon lord as dust clouded, blocking the demon lord's figure..
After a little bit without any response from the Demon lord, an imnse pressure erupted from within the crater, sending abyssal energy surging upward, a dark, oppressive force that swallowed the air itself.
The Demon Lord rose, his body unscathed. In fact, his magic energy that was supposed to have depleted a little was not depleting after such an intense battle. Instead, in that mont, it was rising.
His crimson eyes glead with newfound intensity as he smirked.
"Ah…" he exhaled, rolling his shoulders. "I see."
His voice carried across the battlefield, smooth yet brimming with sothing deeper.
"You are worth a bit of my ti after all."
…
Elsehwere, while Cervic and the demon lord battled it out, a chilling silence filled the air as Cauldrus and Ithil stood across from each other. The Elven King's icy blue eyes bore into Ithil's, searching for any sign of hesitation, but there was none. Ithil's golden-green irises glead with newfound power, an undeniable confidence brimming within him.
Cauldrus had hoped he was wrong, that perhaps Ithil was rely influenced by sothing beyond his understanding, but there was no denying it, not after hearing him again, and clearer.
"I will not repeat myself, Cauldrus," Ithil said, "step down, or be removed."
Cauldrus let out a slow breath, mist curling from his lips. "You do not understand what you're doing, Ithil. This path you've chosen—"
"This path is the only way forward," Ithil interrupted, his expression unyielding.
Cauldrus straightened, his hand tightening into a fist. "You think forcing your will upon our people is evolution?" His voice carried the weight of centuries of leadership. "If you truly believe that, then I have failed you."
Ithil's eyes narrowed. "No, you failed us all by keeping us shackled to the past… all of you."
With no words left to be said, a frozen gust burst outward as Cauldrus made the first move, a wave of icy magic surging toward Ithil with terrifying force. The surrounding houses crystallized instantly, the ground freezing over as Cauldrus sought to end this quickly.
Despite his own plans, Ithil rely raised his hand, halting the attack as rapidly growing vines twisted and slithered toward Cauldrus, breaking the ice.
Cauldrus leaped back, summoning massive spikes of ice from the earth to intercept the advancing vines. They collided, magic battling magic, but Ithil's plants devoured the ice, absorbing its energy as if feeding on it.
Cauldrus' eyes flickered with realization.
"You've… gotten more powerful."
Ithil smirked slightly looking at Cauldrus. "Now you see it."
Cauldrus summoned a blizzard around them, freezing the moisture in the air into razor-sharp ice shards, sending them toward Ithil in an unrelenting storm. At the sa ti, he prepared another spell, his hand glowing with an intricate blue sigil before slamming it into the ground.
A massive glacier erupted beneath Ithil's feet, surging upward with the force of an earthquake.
Instead of dodging or panic, Ithil didn't dodge, instead, he walked through it, as if the ice was nothing but mist, he advanced, his aura pulsating with erald and a bit of golden light. The glacier cracked, then crumbled, dissolving into the very energy that ford it.
Before Cauldrus could react, Ithil moved. In a blur of motion, he closed the distance between them, delivering a single palm strike into Cauldrus' chest, sending him flying backward. He crashed through the stone pillars of the royal courtyard, rolling before catching himself.
He barely had ti to recover before Ithil followed up. A wave of roots erupted from the ground, twisting around Cauldrus like hungry serpents. He acted fast to counter, releasing an explosion of ice, freezing them solid before shattering them with a flick of his wrist.
BOOM!
Cauldrus then lunged forward, ice forming around his arms like jagged gauntlets, reinforcing his physical strength. He t Ithil head-on in a brutal exchange of blows.
The shockwave sent debris flying. Ithil barely flinched in the face of the attacks, or at least it appeared so. Cauldrus twisted mid-air, retaliating with an ice-coated elbow strike to Ithil's jaw.
BOOM!
The impact cracked the ground beneath them, but Ithil barely staggered.
Cauldrus narrowed his eyes, realising the extent at which Ithil had grown in strength, which was unreal. It wasn't just magic empowernt, Ithil's physical strength had risen far beyond normal, in every aspect, speed, strength, endurance, magic.
Before Cauldrus could think of a new strategy,
THWACK!
A vine whip slamd into him from the side, wrapping around his waist and flinging him across the battlefield. Sending hm away into a forested area beyond.
A beat of silence followed, then Ithil appeared above him, descending like a teor.
Cauldrus barely rolled away in ti before Ithil's foot cratered the ground where he had landed. The shockwave sent shattered earth flying in all directions.
He then turned his gaze toward Cauldrus. "Stop holding back, you will need to go out with glory."
