Chapter 113: The Assault
On the outskirts of the capital of the Karl Federation, three bulletproof business vans and two trucks ca to a halt outside a small town characterized by exotic architectural styles. Before them stood a factory complex consisting of three buildings, its gates tightly shut.
As the vehicle doors swung open, figures erged one after another. Yaoguang, Xie Yi'er, Kong Fang, Gu Wanquan, and a group of psychic-will martial paragons, including the unified martial paragon Xie Yushu, all made their appearance.
Every one of them was fully ard, wielding divine weapons and clad in combat armor. So had their armor mounted with heavy firepower designed for breaching fortifications and shattering defenses.
Yaoguang surveyed the surroundings.
"This area isn't particularly densely populated. Given the Snowdragon Empire's operational style, you could have easily mobilized the military to level this entire area," he remarked.
"The Rebirth Society is backed by the Lunar Fiend Empire, which specializes in the path of psyche cultivation. They are far more advanced than the psyche refinent legacy left by our Artifact Sect in areas like ntal control, hypnosis, and manipulation," Xie Yi'er explained. "To this day, we still don’t know exactly how many people have been controlled by the Rebirth Society. Under these circumstances, mobilizing the military would create a massive disturbance that would undoubtedly alert them, allowing them to flee in advance."
Yaoguang had a sudden realization upon hearing this. While the lethality of a modern army was staggering, the logistical movent was far too conspicuous. This wasn't a confrontation between two opposing armies. Using a military force to hunt down an individual or a handful of martial paragons was like trying to punch the wind.
"Lord Yaoguang, we'll leave the leader, Mo Guang, to you. We will handle the others," Xie Yushu said as he stepped forward, his voice heavy. "We have also turned our detection instrunts to maximum power. The mont the Blood-Weeping Fiend Lord, the powerhouse behind the Rebirth Society, appears, we will clear the area."
Yaoguang nodded and glanced at Kong Fang. Kong Fang offered a slight nod in return. He carried several instrunts on his person that were connected to various departnts in real-ti. Their primary function was to ensure that, during this cooperation with the Snowdragon Empire, the latter would not resort to using nuclear weapons to wipe out both sides while Yaoguang was entangled with the Rebirth Society.
"Then let’s go in and et the president of the Rebirth Society," Yaoguang said.
By now, his Perception secret technique had clearly identified dozens of red dots within the factory. Compared to the Baisheng Chemical Plant, this was the true fiendish lair. It was truly worthy of being the Rebirth Society's headquarters.
Xie Yushu nodded. The sight of Yaoguang’s group of over ten people, all fully ard, made it clear to anyone that they ca with ill intent. Shouts of alarm had already erupted from within the factory buildings.
Xie Yushu and his team did not waste a mont. At his command, two psychic-will martial paragons in combat armor rushed forward. The rocket launchers on their shoulders flashed, and with a burst of fire, the gates were blown wide open.
The martial paragons following closely behind stord inside. Whenever they sensed soone attempting to peek out from the factory, they aid their heavy machine guns directly at them.
Amidst the rhythmic roars, the muzzles spat out tongues of fire, raining lead down upon the Rebirth Society mbers who tried to show their faces. So mbers roared as they transford into their fiend forms, leaping forward to strike.
However, an ordinary fiend form lacked the strength to withstand heavy machine gun fire, especially since there were six martial paragons equipped with such combat armor.
Six heavy machine guns, supplented by the occasional rocket, established overwhelming fire suppression against the factory where dozens of fiends had gathered. While the armored martial paragons suppressed the fiends, the other ones wielded their swords, darting into the factory like streaks of light to slaughter the remaining fiends.
The entire process was executed with discipline and seamless coordination.
"They are retreating," Yaoguang suddenly said.
Using Perception, Yaoguang could see that four red dots were running away extrely fast. One of those dots possessed qi and blood that far surpassed the others.
"Chase them!" Xie Yushu decided instantly.
He, Yaoguang, and two other psychic-will martial paragons pursued the four red dots, while the remaining martial paragons continued purging the other daemons in the factory.
Following his senses and the commotion ahead, the four figures soon appeared before them. Even as they ran, their bodies began to swell and daemonify, shifting into their strongest forms. This sight caused Xie Yushu and the others to tense up. However, considering the various equipnt they carried, they suppressed their anxiety and pressed the pursuit.
Finally, in a wooded area about five kiloters from the factory, the four fiends completed their transformations and stopped. They knew that if they couldn't shake their pursuers, they would be in grave danger once the Snowdragon Empire called in fire support while they were stuck with experts of the sa level.
"How bold," the leading fiend said, standing over three ters tall and covered in pitch-black scales. He watched the four pursuers approach. "The Artifact Sect behind you was completely crushed under the assault of our Lunar Fiend Empire. You fringe figures, who at best could be considered outer disciples, actually dare to oppose us? Since you seek death, I shall grant it to you."
He waved his hand sharply. "Kill them all!"
"Roar!" The other three daemons roared and lunged at the three martial paragons led by Xie Yushu. Yaoguang, anwhile, stepped directly in front of the lead fiend.
"Mo Guang, president of the Rebirth Society?" Yaoguang said before adding, "That na sounds like a homophone for 'fiend emperor.' Seems like you're pretty ambitious."[1]
"And what about you? What exactly are you? A failed descender, or... a survivor of the Heavenly Fiend Empire?" Mo Guang asked, eyeing Yaoguang.
He quickly shook his head, however. "I suppose you wouldn't tell
even if I asked. In that case, I will capture you myself and hand you over to the Blood-Weeping Fiend Lord for interrogation. Last ti, the Blood-Weeping Fiend Lord only used a level 4 avatar when he descended, which allowed you to take advantage of the situation. But now, I have not only reached level 6, but I have also manifested my full form. I want to see how you intend to stand against ..."
As he uttered the last few words, the massive creature, standing three ters tall with a manifested fiendish body, lowered his voice into a growl and lunged forward to kill. The jin whipped up by his charge alone sent the surrounding fallen leaves swirling into the air.
His massive fra carried a suffocating pressure as he barrelled forward, projecting a constant wave of what appeared to be psychic-will intimidation. But it took Yaoguang only a mont to realize that it was no longer re psychic-will intimidation! It was the force of heaven and earth!
Mo Guang had fused his own force with the force of heaven and earth, forming a physical wave of power that crashed down. Any ordinary martial paragon, or even a psychic-will martial paragon, would have found their psychic mind overwheld and their fighting spirit withering in front of such a terrifying size and imnse pressure.
Based on this alone, one could judge that Mo Guang’s own realm was undoubtedly above the seventh realm. Unfortunately for him, he had encountered Yaoguang. Even the force of the Blood-Weeping Fiend Lord, a fiend suspected to be at the star lord realm, could not shake him in the slightest, let alone a fiend who was rely equivalent to a high-tier cultivator.
A thunderclap rumbled in the air!
The fiend was t by a strike from the Thunderclap Sword, which seed to cleave the very heavens and earth apart. The sword light carried a bolt of lightning that resembled a ribbon tearing through the void, instantly shattering the force of heaven and earth that Mo Guang had gathered.
Whether it was his own Great Earth Furnace or the Stars' Child trait he had acquired later, any attempt by others to use the force of heaven and earth against him felt like an amateur trying to show off before a master.
"You and Leng Tianfeng are not even on the sa level." Yaoguang’s voice echoed through the void.
His strike did more than just shatter Mo Guang’s force; he infused his own force into the sword, suppressing Mo Guang’s body along with the roar of the thunderclap. The mont before contact, Mo Guang felt as if he had entered a high-gravity environnt. The load on his body suddenly surged more than tenfold.
Mo Guang’s pupils constricted violently. "What's with this force!?"
Manifesting their true form was physically taxing for any fiend. This was why none of them would casually reveal their true forms unless they were in a life-or-death struggle. While this state granted them combat power far exceeding their current realm, it was like a patient riddled with hidden ailnts attempting a high-intensity flight; even if the surface might look fine, the minor, unnoticed internal injuries would explode under such a burden.
In an instant, Mo Guang’s massive body shuddered violently. Blood seeped from various parts of his body, and even his claws beca slightly deford.
Seizing the opportunity, the jin in Yaoguang's feet surged!
With the near-constant buffs from Star Ignition and the Heavenly Fiend Disintegration, his speed at this mont far exceeded the imagination of any ordinary unified martial paragon. The Thunderclap Sword transford into a literal thunderbolt, booming as it directly pierced through Mo Guang’s heart.
This was only because the height difference between the two made it inconvenient for him to decapitate the fiend in a single strike. Otherwise, the battle likely would have concluded the mont they touched. But this was not the end.
"Roar!" Struggling against the explosion of his hidden injuries caused by Yaoguang’s sword force, Mo Guang desperately grabbed the Thunderclap Sword that had entered his body, preventing it from penetrating any further.
However, almost the instant he gripped the divine sword, the power of lightning inherent in the blade erupted. Violent electrical currents surged from the blade, instantly flooding Mo Guang’s entire body and plunging him into a state of paralysis.
Imdiately after, Yaoguang slamd into Mo Guang’s three-ter-tall, 400-kilogram fra like a giant sledgehamr.
The mont they collided, a circular shockwave exploded outward, instantly shredding the leaves and vegetation beneath his feet into dust.
Mo Guang felt as if he had been struck head-on by a high-speed heavy truck. His massive form was sent flying back more than ten ters, slamming heavily into the ground and sliding another five or six ters before stopping.
Despite both being unified martial paragons, and Mo Guang having manifested his daemon form, possessing combat power far beyond that of a typical unified martial paragon, the fight had been a total rout.
Xie Yushu reckoned that even if he were fully ard, his chances of winning against Mo Guang would likely be less than thirty percent. Yet, even with all that power, the president of the Rebirth Society had been defeated by Yaoguang in an almost crushing fashion.
Such strength caused the eyes of Xie Yushu and the others to narrow; they all felt that they had placed the right bet. However, Yaoguang paid no mind to their joy. He did not even look at Mo Guang, whose heart had been crushed. Instead, he turned his gaze toward a spot not far off in the woods...
He seed to understand sothing. The Snowdragon Empire wanted to use him to draw out the Rebirth Society fiend that had possessed Xie Boen. And the enemy’s decision to expose Mo Guang’s whereabouts... was driven by the sa goal.
1. Mo Guang sounds like Mo Huang, which translates to fiend emperor. ??
