Chapter 235
"Um... is there anyone who could accompany the girls on their trip?"
After that, until winter break started... Clael went around asking the female teachers about their availability.
Although he had agreed to accompany Reina and the others on the trip, it still felt awkward being among only female students. If he could find soone else to go with them, that would be ideal.
"Ah, let check my schedule."
"Could you wait until tomorrow? I need to check with my husband."
"A trip sounds nice. It's been a while since I've gone skiing."
As he asked each female teacher one by one... a few of them seed interested and agreed to check their schedules.
It looked like he might be able to find a replacent. Clael sighed in relief.
(At this rate, I should be able to find soone soon...)
However... that sense of relief was soon overturned.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Byrne. Sothing ca up..."
One of the female teachers he had asked to accompany the group spoke apologetically.
"Actually, my boyfriend suddenly proposed to , so now I have to choose a venue and et both our parents."
"Ah, well, that can't be helped. Congratulations."
Clael offered his congratulations in response to the female teacher's words.
"I didn't know you were seeing soone. What kind of person is he?"
"He's a knight, but he's really shy and kind of awkward. I'd always felt a bit frustrated, but then he suddenly proposed."
"Well, well..."
"Apparently, an angel appeared in his dream and gave him a push. Funny, right? He said the angel had the face of a bear."
"............"
A bear-faced angel... Clael was at a loss for words at the all-too-familiar term.
"Well then, I'll be sure to invite everyone to the wedding. I'm really sorry."
"N-No..."
Oblivious to Clael's confusion, the female teacher left, radiating happiness.
(N-No, no, no... It's just a coincidence. A coincidence. Bear-faced angels could be anywhere... or maybe not?)
"Mr. Byrne, I'm sorry."
"About the other day... I'm sorry, but I have to decline!"
As Clael reeled, the other female teachers he had asked also ca to apologize.
"Actually, my sick grandfather suddenly got better and invited on a trip. He said an angel with a dog's head appeared at his bedside and healed him. Honestly, it made more worried about his ntal state."
"The other day, an angel with a shoebill's head appeared in my dream and gave a revelation. It said the 'Jade Ruins' I've been searching for all these years are in the southern mountains of the kingdom... I'll be busy with excavation work during winter break!"
"............"
As the female teachers continued to turn him down... Clael's suspicions only grew stronger.
"No way... could it be Reina...?"
When it ca to animal-headed angels, Reina naturally ca to mind... but she had no reason to do sothing like that.
Reina would never do anything to trouble Clael, so it must be just a coincidence.
"Y-Yeah... it's a coincidence. Bear plushies are everywhere, and the dog must've been a hallucination from the old man. The shoebill must've been a wild one..."
Clael told himself that, trying to force himself to accept it.
As he groaned at his desk in the staff room... his colleague Yurii Kanesta spoke to him.
"Ah, Mr. Clael."
"...Yes?"
"I heard you're going on a ski trip with the students. Sounds fun. I'm jealous."
"............"
Yurii was a man.
No matter how cute she looked, she was definitely a man.
"...If you'd like, would you join us, Mr. Yurii?"
"Eh? Really!?"
"Yes... if you're free, that is."
"Then let's go together! It's no problem if there's one more, right!"
As Yurii cheerfully raised her voice, Clael gave a bitter nod.
It would be much more comfortable than being the only man among four girls.
He hadn't found a replacent companion... but it seed he had at least found soone to go with.
Even after asking the female teachers and the office staff, he still couldn't find anyone else.
And so, Clael ended up joining the girls' ski trip together with Yurii.
