??Chapter 29: Chapter 28 Follow

Chapter 29: Chapter 28 Follow

“He has a sweet tooth, especially when he was younger. As he grew up, he ate less of it.”

Hearing Su Yang’s words, Shen Jingxiu unconsciously furrowed his brow slightly.

Wenyan, on the other hand, felt a bit smug, seemingly having chosen the right gift with the small cake the night before.

She then asked, “Besides desserts, what kind of at and vegetables does Second Brother like?”

“Beef, among ats, Jinghe likes beef the most. He also enjoys mushrooms, just like your Third Brother. But he’s not too picky with other foods and will eat most things, except for one he doesn’t like—”

“Scrambled eggs with tomatoes. (!)”

The last line was spoken by both Su Yang and Wenyan at the sa ti.

Su Yang was sowhat surprised, “Yanyan, how did you know about this?”

“Second Brother told ,” Wenyan said, smiling as she turned her head back, “He ntioned it a few days ago when I visited his apartnt.”

After speaking, she did not forget to glance at Shen Zhirou.

In that glance, Wenyan distinctly felt the hatred in Shen Zhirou’s eyes.

Although her own behavior just now seed quite scheming, it looked like the black-hearted Shen Zhirou was struggling to contain herself.

Hmph, a black-hearted lotus is no nobler than a scher.

Wenyan continued to strike while the iron was hot, “I’ll just send Second Brother another ssage to ask what kind of seafood he’d like.”

As she spoke, Wenyan pulled out her mobile phone from the bag she was carrying.

She flat-out sched to the end, even affecting a certain tone of voice.

“Second Brother, we’re on our way to the supermarket to buy ingredients. Do you have any seafood you’d like to eat?”

As this saccharine voice erged, Su Yang was startled for a mont. However, she just assud it was a display of the close relationship between the siblings. Otherwise, Yanyan would not have had the ability to bring Jinghe ho as a surprise for her.

What Su Yang didn’t expect, however, was that Yanyan would improve her relationship with the second brother during an interview trip.

Shen Zhirou, however, clenched her fists in secret, finding Wenyan utterly repugnant, never having seen soone so shaless.

Wenyan herself was fine with it, after all, playing different roles was her specialty.

But the deep wrinkles between Shen Jingxiu’s brows made her feel a twinge of defeat as well as profound sympathy for Shen Jingxiu himself.

[Sorry big brother, didn’t an to offend your ears. But actually, I’m using voice-to-text, and this sort of ostentatious tone—you just happened to overhear today, I won’t be sending it out.]

Shen Jingxiu was quite puzzled, so why didn’t she just type it out? Who was she putting on such an act for?

Shen Jinghe, however, replied to Wenyan quite quickly.

His reply was as succinct as always.

Just two words, ‘Anything’s fine’

Wenyan turned back with a smile, “Mom, Second Brother said to just go with whatever we think is good; he’s okay with anything.”

“Then that’s settled.”

Shen Jingxiu swiftly drove the car into the parking lot of a large comprehensive supermarket.

Today he was not only acting as the chauffeur but also as the porter.

The mont they entered the supermarket, they imdiately caught many overt and covert glances.

Because of their outstanding appearances and also the elegance that their clothes and deanour suggested.

Just as they were about to head for the fresh at section, a man speaking in dialect suddenly approached them.

To be precise, he hesitantly made his way directly towards Shen Zhirou.

“Young lady, you look so familiar. Are you the daughter of Boss Zhao?”

Wenyan did not recognize the accent at all, but as soon as the man ntioned Boss Zhao, she imdiately thought of Shen Zhirou’s adoptive mother, Zhao Jing, who happened to share the sa surna.

As for Shen Zhirou, the flawlessness of her expression cracked slightly upon the man’s arrival.

She quickly stepped back and said with a furrowed brow, “You must be mistaken, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before, and my father’s last na isn’t Zhao.”

This was indeed accurate as Wenyan clearly rembered that Shen Zhirou’s adoptive father didn’t share the surna Zhao.

However, Wenyan couldn’t shake the feeling that there was sothing fishy about the encounter.

Usually, if soone is stopped on the street by a stranger, they would either feel it’s inexplicable or be afraid.

But Shen Zhirou seed to look upon it with apparent disdain, as if she dreaded nothing more than to be associated with them and was eager to disassociate herself.

After pondering for a mont, Wenyan quickly found an excuse and separated from Shen Zhirou and the others.

After searching for quite a while, Wenyan finally found that man.

She hurried over with a jog, “Excuse , sir, hello.”

“Hello, you’re looking for ?” Seeing a young and beautiful woman approach him proactively, the middle-aged man imdiately grinned from ear to ear.

“Yes, we t just now. You said you saw Mr. Zhao’s daughter, near the at selling area up ahead, don’t you rember?”

“Oh oh oh, I rember, I rember, it just happened. What do you need

for?”

“There is a matter, but I don’t have ti to talk in detail today. Look, how about we do this, let’s add a contact thod first, and then I will look for you when I am free.”

“Sure thing, then save my phone number.” Saying this, the man recited a string of numbers, and added, “My surna is Wang, Wang with three water radicals, just call

Wang—”

Before he could finish, a middle-aged woman carrying a child ca over.

The middle-aged woman’s tone was harsh, “Who are you talking to? The child has been all over looking for grandpa, co on, carry the stuff.”

“Alright, alright, I’m coming. Co here, my dear grandson, grandpa will hold you.”

The man did not continue speaking with Wenyan; holding the child, he left with the woman.

However, after walking a few steps, he suddenly turned back and sneakily gestured to Wenyan to call him.

Wenyan stood petrified on the spot and smiled awkwardly yet politely.

What a guy, he seed to be just in his early forties, and to think he was already a grandfather. And yet, even as a grandfather, he was still grinning so lewdly.

He couldn’t possibly think she was asking for his phone number as a re pickup line, could he?

Turning around without a word, Wenyan unexpectedly barged right into a warm and solid ‘wall of flesh’.

“Ah, my nose.”

Wenyan, who stands at one ter seventy in her shoes, crashed into soone who had to be at least one ter ninety; otherwise, her nose wouldn’t have hit right into his sternum.

With a breath infused with a faint scent of cedar, Wenyan looked up and realized that Shen Jingxiu was the person she had bumped into.

“Big brother? Sorry, I didn’t see you just now. What brings you here?”

After speaking, Wenyan didn’t even wait to tend to her pain, her gaze darted past Shen Jingxiu’s shoulder as she began to look around.

“Looking for sothing?” Shen Jingxiu lowered his eyes to Wenyan.

“Oh, I saw mom and Zhirou, did they co here too?” It wouldn’t be great if Shen Zhirou saw her interacting with that man earlier.

“No, mom said this place is too vast and was worried about getting separated, so she sent

to find you.”

“Oh, it is pretty big here.”

“Did you find what you were here to buy?”

“Ah?”

“Didn’t you say you ca back to buy so chewing gum? Did you find it?”

“Not yet, it should be a bit further ahead, that way, shall we go together?”

“Mm.”

“I rember it’s just on the left side of the shelf ahead.”

Wenyan led Shen Jingxiu towards the left front, only to find that the area was for kitchen seasonings.

She laughed awkwardly, “I rembered wrong, it should be even further ahead, probably on the right-hand side.”

The two then moved toward the right front.

But that area turned out to be for family planning products.

Wenyan felt like a headless fly; the supermarket was just too damn big, and a first-ti visitor simply couldn’t find their way out.

Seeing her like this, Shen Jingxiu by her side silently sighed.

“Follow .”
