Lu Xun hasn’t taken the shuttle to work for a while now.

Lu Xun is a skilled driver, but ever since he saw the Lieutenant driver handle the military bus, he felt his driving skills weren’t quite up to par. Since then, the idea of driving to work had been dismissed.

It’s probably rare for soone to notice that the Lieutenant driver never hits traffic lights, and has perfect timing with every brake and throttle. For Lu Xun, if he could grasp the accuracy of firing a gun as well, his shooting skills would surely reach a new level.

After boarding the bus, Lu Xun didn’t sit in the last row as usual, but chose a seat near the front row instead. He didn’t cover his face with a newspaper, still exhilarated from the scenes in "Military Road" from last night.

For the first ti, he felt that "Military Road" was more enticing than his work in Rand Military District. Unlike many clerical soldiers seeking comfort, Lu Xun never considered "soldier" as just a job.

Those days of wandering the streets before he was sixteen taught him society was a place where the strong prey on the weak. To survive, one had to possess unassailable capabilities. That’s why he fought fiercely on the streets.

Until he t "Ding Ling". Eight-year-old "Ding Ling", despite her dirty face making it hard to discern her features on the streets, would still look at him with clear eyes, blow on his wounds, and reprimand him with the few sentences she learned from her soldier father.

After eting Xiao Ling again, he beca the Ding Family’s adopted son. Everything began to sail smoothly. A superior living environnt brought changes to both him and Xiao Ling. Xiao Ling’s face was no longer dirty, and she stopped scolding with her big eyes and furrowed brows. Except for so resistance while secretly climbing ranks in the military region, Lu Xun had not truly experienced the difficulties of being a soldier.

Unexpectedly, after so many years, the long-missed feeling of "blood boiling" was brought upon him again through a virtual ga.

"It’s ti to wake up. Reality is reality, a ga is a ga," Lu Xun pinched his brow, trying to relax the tension there.

The military bus stopped at a Bazhou City station. After not seeing the Lieutenant driver for a month, Xia You boarded the bus, went to scan her card, and dropped it "clatter" on the floor right beside Lu Xun’s feet when she caught sight of the driver’s Bald head.

Their gazes t. The hand that Lu Xun was using to massage his brow imdiately stopped.

Why would soone uninterested in Rand Military District be wearing a Rand uniform and taking a Rand bus?

"Good morning, Lieutenant Colonel Lu," Xia You’s striking short hair grabbed the attention of everyone on the bus. Even the Lieutenant driver glanced over through the rearview mirror.

"National Security Departnt, ID ****, Private Xia You greets the instructor," Xia You raised her hand sowhat awkwardly as the bus started moving. Her card was still lying next to Lu Xun’s foot.

If hearing National Security Departnt was shocking enough for Lu Xun, hearing "Private" left the whole bus startled. The Lieutenant driver’s hand on the wheel slid in surprise. This slip ant everyone was about to encounter a red light.

In Rand Military District, the number of Junior Sergeants was higher than anywhere else. Aside from clerical staff who never go out, most paperwork soldiers would be promoted from Private to Junior Sergeant in about three years. This was a very common promotion speed and pattern.

Judging by the wear of Xia You’s uniform, this Junior Sergeant had clearly not been in the military region long. Maybe one month, two at most, half a year tops. To be promoted from Private to Junior Sergeant in just half a year, Xia You’s promotion speed could only be described as "rocket-like".

And she was from the National Security Departnt. As an internal departnt, their promotions were slower than other departnts. This Xia You was no ordinary person.

"Absolutely not simple. Did you see the way Lieutenant Colonel Lu looked when he got off the bus?" Usually gossip-averse soldiers of the military region were formidable once they started. How to describe it? Full of grievances, yet also discontent. If Lu Xun heard these words, he probably would’ve spat blood on the spot.
